The Guitar Hero Thread

It's been mentioned in the Rock Band thread, but I'm pretty sure any USB microphone will work, since I was able to use my Karaoke Revolution microphone with both Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band. Not sure about headsets, but if you have any lying around it's worth a shot.

That's not a bad setlist. I've been wanting Brand Ned in a music game for a long time, but I'm not sure Sowing Season is the right choice. The obvious ones would be Sic Transit Gloria or The Quiet Things, or Archer's Bows, which would have been hella interesting on drums with basically a three minute snare roll.

Deadbolt however, is genius.

The funny thing though is that a decent chunk of those are either DLC for Rock Band or will be DLC for Rock Band. I don't know if I'd be willing to shell out $60 for stuff that I've already downloaded for Rock Band, so I may pass up on 5 and wait and see what Band Hero and Rock Band 3 offer.

Edit: Upon looking it over once again, assuming this setlist is correct and unless Rock Band gets Sweating Bullets I may just have to get this for that one song.

To go along with World Tour being exportable (I am going to assume that the Metallica song, like in Rock Band, won't be exportable), Smash Hits will be as well.

And you can play as your 360 Avatar.

This is the same as Rock Band? I buy GH5, export Smash Hits, and can play all those songs too?

Activision is doing a deal where if you pre order GH5 you get GH Van Halen free. I looked on Gamestop and Amazon and they both list this, though Gamestop also lists two free DLC songs, so if that is in addition to the Van Halen, that's the better pre-order deal.

Q:How do I redeem this promotion?

A:You can redeem online or mail in your unique id on manual, sticker on package, and your receipt.

Q:How long do I have to wait to get the Van Halen?

A:6-8 weeks

We are getting something after all, Biggles.

Activision's making it awfully hard for folks across this big blue world of ours to not purchase their upcoming rhythm title, Guitar Hero 5 -- here in the States, folks who purchase the game are eligible to receive Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free. However, in the United Kingdom, the offer is incredibly sweeter -- those who pre-order Guitar Hero the Fifth through Amazon can also grab Guitar Hero: World Tour for the low, low price of nothing.

OXM received instructions from Amazon.UK on how to utilize the offer -- simply add Guitar Hero 5 (on any platform) to your basket, then add the special promotional version of World Tour for the appropriate console. Go to checkout, and the price of the latter will magically change to zilch. If only this kind economic wizardry applied to every purchase in our life.
