Cover Songs

Okay, so my radio station is planning on doing a weekly show of all cover tunes. And I'm in charge of finding music for it... so I need your help. I need a HUGE list of covers, and I've already got a ton of stuff, but I'm sure there's a lot that I'm missing. So help a brother out and reply with cover tunes that you know, couple guidelines first: try to reply with at least more than one song, and try not to repeat anything that has been posted already. Also, a lot of places mis-label cover tunes, so make sure you're 100% on who is doing the cover. Thanks a bunch.

If you want some metal on the show, then get your hands on Slayer's "Undisputed Attitude" album which is all punk covers. A few songs they cover are Memories of Tomorrow by Suicidal Tendencies, Sick Boy by G.B.H., and Mr. Freeze by Dr. Know to name a few.

Sid Vicious's cover of Frank Sinatra's My Way would add a nice punk rock element to the show, on top of it being a decently known tune.

The Melvins cover of the Germs Lexicon Devil is another good one to add.

Nomeansno did some fairly eclectic covers of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew, and The Ramones Beat on the Brat.

Honestly, I don't know if these songs are ideal for the radio, but I figured they were the best I could come up with for a radio environment.

Audioslave did a cover of Seven Nation Army that is on the internet. I'd also reccomend Ramones cover of CCR's Have You Ever Seen The Rain. Maybe Blitzkrieg Bop cover by Greenday. Greenday also did a pretty decent "We Are The Champions". There is a site with lots of cover songs, I'll try and find it again.

The Lemonheads have done loads of great covers, most famously Mrs. Robinson, but also Luka (Suzanne Vega), Skulls (Misfits) and Live Forever (Oasis), which are all worth hearing.

Voltaire's cover of Tori Amos' Caught A Lite Sneeze is very good.

The Wedding Present - Come Up And See Me (Steve Harley)

Ani DiFranco - Hurricane (Bob Dylan)

Primus - Have A Cigar (Pink Floyd)

Motörhead - Louie Louie (The Kingsmen)

The Dead Kennedys - Viva Las Vegas (Elvis Presley)

Siobhan Fahey - White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)

King Curtis - A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Procol Harum)

There's plenty more but off the top of my head, they're all fantastic cover versions.

Yeah, I forgot to note, this is for an Alt Rock station. So try to keep it for stuff that you could actually imagine hearing on the radio. Thanks though to anyone who helps.

"Halloween" and "Last Caress" done by AFI kick multitudes of ass.

Cake's version of "I Will Survive" is good. Better than the original if you hate disco like me.

Our Lady Peace's version of "The Needle and the Damage Done" took me aback. Also, Pearl Jam's "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" (Neil Young...mmm.)

Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt"

and finally, who can forget Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' version of "I Believe I Can Fly" ?

Edit: Yeah...I copied this from another thread.

'Baker Street' by the Foo Fighters is actually one of my favourite songs, cover or not.

Biffy Clyro did a cover of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out, which shouldn't be too hard to find.

And get Trust Company - Rock the Casbah. Not many people have heard it, but it's a good tune.
