Lets hype some shit......

So yeah. This is ideally a thread where people can hype up any 'new' bands. As long as they're good. I've got 4 bands to toss out here. I've decided to rank them in current order of awesomeness.

4. Hellogoodbye

I saw them open for Taking Back Sunday the other week. I wasn't into them live, they sound a lot better on record. I feel the problem live was the fact their quirkiness and synth style totally got abandoned when live...well you could hardly hear the electronic aspect. They're indie-emo with a twist. Some catchy stuff. They have their first full length coming out soon. I'll probably pick it up. The new song they played live was probably the best of the lot (Besides the Bonnie Taylor Breakdown (All heil the Blink 182 chord progression!!!)...which actually had a bit of a mosh pit going...then they got coins thrown at them...got to love Newcastle)

3. The Fratellis

Going to be a big thing in the UK. "Creepin' Up The Backstairs" is fucking immense and the next single, "Henrietta" is really good as well. Also much like the Arctic Monkeys have the whole "We Don't take ourselves too seriously" vibe. The songs are all really fun. Some amazing riffs, some awesome sing along tracks (The Guteratti is an example). I can't wait for them to put out a full length. It should be good stuff. Their material released thus far is all amazing. Hopefully going to see them live (If I can convince someone I actually like to go with me :shifty:)

2. The Headlights

these are one of the bands that self confessed emo-haters have to listen to. They're a new emo band with a hell of a lot of potential. I've been hyping them up a lot recently but I've just learnt that their first album, "Kill Them With Kindness" will be released on August 22nd. I find the name to be perfectly fitting as the songs are so sweet. They're definately not the whole angry/screaming/slit your wrists side of emo (:shifty:), instead they just seem to be writing some nice pop songs.

Progressive rock...from Leeds. What else can you ask for? They write really beautiful tunes. Really soft stuff for the most part (Not progressive as in solo's and shit...much more like the softer Mew songs or Sigur Ros etc.). I can't really describe just how good I think this is. I understand it may not be for everyone, but it's the seemingly beautifulness of the songs that gets me hooked. Again no full length is released as of yet. But I am sitting in wait of one. It's only been a week tops that I've known about these and I'm already addicted to the few songs I have. Plus the fact someone is credited for "trumpet and visuals" makes you know they're going to be great.

So feel free to toss out bands of your own...

The Fratelli's. Hmm, theres an anime called Gunslinger Girl where one of them is called Henrietta and she has a 'fratello' which is Italian for sibling. I will have to invesitgate. Later.

EDIT: On closer inspection, it looks to be a coincidence. Disregard all comments above this. ¬_¬

I have to see if theres a connection - gonna check all these bands out soon YI (see: when QI finishes) so i'll have to see. Will they most likely become available on the collection list, if you catch my drift - nudge nudge?

The Howling Bells.

It's soft indie stuff, so the metalheads might want to steer clear, but anyone who wants to have their heart melted by an Australian woman with a voice that could lure Odysseus onto the rocks a thousand times over needs to get the song Low Happening, followed by their self titled album.

They were also the baddies in the Goonies. Aside from the silly name however there's little to distance them from the other Arctic wannabe's like Milburn or Little Man Tate. They're the Bandits to the Monkeys' Coral.

Edit: The Fratelli's that is, not the Howling Bells. Who are ace, and not at all the baddies in the Goonies.

Wormed

This is death metal taken to new heights. Seriously, their 2003 disc "Planisphaerium" is probably one of the top 3 heaviest fucking albums I've ever heard, and I think that's saying a lot. Insane speed, insane brutality, insane skill, and on top of it THE sickest fucking vocals I've heard done without a pitch shifter/some other gadget. If you fancy yourself a fan of extreme music, give Wormed a listen. Seriously.

MySpace page, with four tracks off of "Planisphaerium"

Leng Tch'e

This band hails from Belgium, and they refer to themselves as "razorgrind". What they are, in fact, is the future of grindcore. Leng Tch'e stand toe-to-toe with Pig Destroyer in brutality and coat it all with a scathing sense of satire and humor. They are skilled and technically sound, but don't sacrifice any of the essence of grindcore for this. Just sublime stuff, any of their three albums should be a treat for a grind fan.Homepage

Leng Tch'e on MySpace - two tracks, including one of my favorites "Glamourgirl Concubine"

Not a new band, but having listened to both "The Mute Print" and "Ruiner" straight through I've decied that A Wilhelm Scream are quite possibly the greatest band ever to walk the planet. They bust out some slick technical stuff, but it's not just technical stuff for the sake of it, it really adds to the songs. Plus the songs are constantly 'changing', great rock the fuck out music as well...didn't check their site for a while and have just realised they they came to the UK at the start of the year. :(

First and foremost, I give you Crank Sanatra. Band out of Tennessee that is arguably my favorite local band. Peep their MySpace and their official site. This band actually gives me hope that not all bands in this region are country fuckers or Baptist pricks.

A band more suited for us Tool/Rush/Yes/Police/Dream Theater fanatics would be Axiom (official site -- MySpace.) I'm friends with all the bandmembers (hell, even sit in on drums from time to time) but don't let me skew ya, just check it out and form your own opinion (although I do advise you listen to "The Finale"...as soon as I get a decent copy of the album, I'm wearing the song out.)

So, yeah, more as I come across it.

These are some local bands. Most of the guys are from school I go...

The Desire

Everyone says they're going big this year when their album comes out. Seen them live. Were great...

Ablaze

Couple of my friends plays in this band. Songs on the site are not the best quality but these guys are pure gold when on the stage...
