There's some albums on there I've not had a chance to listen to yet like Dido (which I probably won't listen to to be honest) and R.E.M (which I've just not got round to yet). Although having Coldplay, Duffy and Vampire Weekend in the top 10 I don't like. Viva la Vida was okay, Vampire Weekend catchy but not the best. Duffy I detest.

So yeah, discuss.

Damn, I was gunna come in bitching about this stupid list, but then I saw this:

42. Liam Finn - I'll Be Lightning

...and all is forgiven.

Liam Finn is a New Zealand Multi-Instrumentalist (and I mean that, he plays something like 250 instruments). He's the son of Neil Finn who you might know from Split Enz or Crowded House. He's brilliant, but pretty unheard of.

Here's a clip, check him out.

Here

Anyways, Kings of Leon, Coldplay and AC/DC seem to have been ranked on sales figures, because they are definitely not top 50 albums.

Of the ones I've heard, the only decent ones are Duffy, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Portishead, Black Mountain, Hercules & Love Affair, Bon Iver and Lykke Li.

Not sure if they'd be in my top 5, though...Portishead, maybe, and Nick Cave and Lykke Li at a push. Most of that list is gash or there because it was a "big" release rather than a good one, but Q hasn't been relevant for a great many years - certainly not since they labelled The White Stripes as a "hot new act" about six months after White Blood Cells had come out, and probably for a fair while before that. Does anyone still read it? It's worse than fucking Uncut and Mojo.

What are the Kaiser Chiefs doing to get such high places on all these lists and all the air time their singles receive? They're absolute crap and the fact that they finished above half these albums is absurd.

The mind boggles. It really does.

Easy, cause successful British acts that get produced by other successful British producers clearly are record of the year contenders. <_<

And I like Ronson's stuff.

1. Kings of Leon – Only By The Night

25. Metallica - Death Magnetic

Wroooooooooooooong. Kings of Leon might be fantastic, but Metallica is Metallica.

And Death Magnetic, while good on the first few listens, becomes increasingly more average and dull with each other listen. I've never listened to Kings of Leon, but "Metallica is Metallica" is bad reasoning. Bad!

.. I don't really know who the fuck 3/4th of these bands are, but Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds breaking top ten (though barely)? I approve.
