Great experimental music

I'm looking for some good experimental (preferably, but not limited to, electronica music). I'm open to all sorts, but really looking for some crazy ass electronica stuff.

I'm a big fan of Matmos & The Soft Pink Truth, Battles, Aphex Twin and Gang Gang Dance (who all are close to the pop side of things) and am looking to similar type bands or bands doing the same kind of thing.

^ Listen to this man. Go and see Errors live too, stunning.

If you don't know any Boards of Canada then I'd recommend Music Has The Right To Children.

The Knife's 'Silent Shout' album would be another good one.

Oh and Pyramids, which is some sort of fucked up mix of ambience and drone metal. It's stunning.

Holy Fuck, Raccoo-oo-oon, Lykke Li, Grizzly Bear, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone.

All wonderful. All weird.

Can't say I've heard of Raccoo-oo-oon or heard Casiotone but the other three are great bands.

Oh and I'd also recommend Porn Sword Tobacco, Reverbaphon (both electronica), Why?, Wooden Shjips and HEALTH

There's a thread on experimental electronica? Why did no one page me :@

Here's some;

Silver Apples - even if you don't like them (a concept I cannot begin to get my head around), Silver Apples are interesting as a curio. They were doing mindblowing electronic rock music...in 1967. They were pretty much the first band to incorporate electronic instruments in a pop/rock setting, and certainly amongst the first to use electronics as an instrument in their own right, rather than as an attempt to replicate something else. The most amazing thing about them is the homemade nature of the "Simeon", their primary instrument, which is a truly ridiculous piece of engineering; case in point:

World's End Girlfriend and Boredoms are both good for glitchy, sprawling atmospheric Japanese electro soundscapes.

Beyond that, assuming you've explored Aphex Twin's side-projects, a lot of what I would have suggested has been said.

On the Gang Gang Dance poppier front, though...Glass Candy and Chromatics would probably be right up their street. Maybe Micachu And The Shapes too.

Already had heard of Boredoms (very cool and interesting), Holy Fuck (saw them open for M.I.A - definitely a band you need to see live), The Knife (I'm a fan), Mogwai (meh), Grizzly Bear (I'm starting to like them).

Checked out Fuck Buttons (I like), Glass Candy (amazing, love it), Chromatics (great stuff so far), and gonna check out some more of the recommendations... I have some questions on some of the band listed.

I'm too lazy to find anything about HEALTH but I feel like I might like them. Can someone give me a brief description of their sound, best songs and any other stuff that's important...

I heard one song by Boards of Canada and was bored. What's their best album? I know someone recommended Music Has The Right To Children, is that the consensus on their best album?
