Phenomenal list! Needs more Oasis over Beatles, though.

Considering The Beatles are horrid, I'd agree with this statement minus the sarcasm....

:lmao: Says the fan of Mork and Mindy.

I've actually never seen the show. It just went with my name. :P

You chose your name to part of Mork and Mindy. You sicken me.

To be fair you have to consider the circumstnces that went into that list.

XFM is a radio station that caters to indie/alt-rock for people betwen the ages of 16 and 30, it is entirely understandable then that a list voted for by their listeners would include many of the favourites of that market. The Beatles are most certanily pop.

When Smash Hits run similar polls it is filled with teen-pop/RnB, when Kerrang do it you find metal, with NME it would be dominated by The Beatles. I'm surprised that anyone would expect anything other as a result to be honest.

...you know, for as much as I've heard British people wank about how much AWESOME music comes out of the UK, there's definitely a hell of a lot of Oasis on that list.

There is a lot of very good stuff coming out of the UK, far more variety of stuff than most other countries too.

However Oasis were huge, probably not so much outside the UK but in it there have only been a handful of bands who made a bigger impact in any era, it wasn't all about music, they were jut a very good band who's style came at exactly the right time as the whole country was going through a process of change and ended up being the poster-children for the whole thing.

There have been some extremely good bands since then who are just as good as them in my eyes (Muse being one), none of them had the same kind of impact in terms of shaking up the music industry or being held up by society as a whole. That is why Oasis are still revered so much (and garnish so much press) despite doing very little of note since the late 90's. Also remember that is this poll was recent then the breakup would have pushed their songs up the list as well.
