The 2010 Summer transfer thread

How is that bad news? The Yankees are known to spend insane amounts of money to succeed and have crafted out one of the most famous sporting teams in the World. I've never seen a baseball game, but even I know who the Yankees. I'd want that type of success at my club.

Wow. I cannot believe Cole is going to Pool. He REALLY must not like Tottenham :P.

Still, this is a huge lift for Liverpool, and not even in terms of on the pitch, but morale too. Yes, it is a free transfer, but at the same time, it's at least proof that quality players still want to play at Anfield.

I'm a Newcastle fan (point being we were NEVER going to sign Cole, so I consider my a neutral in this matter), I am gutted to see Joe Cole turn down Tottenham. Don't mind him going to Liverpool, I just think there would have been something something special about him going to Spurs.

Someone on another forum posted a twitter post from a journalist who said Arsenal were offering Joe Cole 80k and two-year deal, Spurs £65k for a three year deal and a big signing on fee, Liverpool offer was 90k for four years. There was talk from Ancelotti earlier saying that Chelsea wouldn't meet his wage demands either. I'm not sure what Liverpool's wage structure is at the moment but 90k sounds a lot although once you subtract the wages from Benayoun and whoever else may leave then it may not even be an overall rise for the club. On the pitch, it should prove a good signing for them though providing he stay fits. Gives a decent option from the wings and he seems the type of player who could really benefit from Hodgson's management.
