EWB's Top 99 Stand-Up Comics OF ALL TIME!

This list is shaping up nicely.

Kevin Bridges is good. Interested in seeing if he'll get better over the next few years or if he'll get "too famous" al a McIntyre.

Rob Newman is a genius. A lot of people to complain about his turn from the double act with David Baddiel to political comedy; his shows aren't as good, no, but he is still hilarious.

I've seen very little of Bill Maher, but of what I've seen I liked.

Dara O'Briain is one of the cleverest and funniest comedians of recent times. I love that man.

Fuck Peter Kay.

Russell Peters I am fine with. He has his moments.

I tend to overrate Reginald D. Hunter to myself and my friends, but there is something about the guy that is just so charming.

Rodney Dangerfield is a legend.

Love Phill Jupitus. I heavily recommend his podcast, Phil & Phill's Perfect Ten, to everyone.

Lenny Bruce is great.

Martin Lawrence is ... well, I don't know. I remember laughing at him before, but I don't really remember liking him.

I may get crucified here, but Russell Brand is so underrated as a stand-up comedian. Like or dislike him, he has so a unique way of telling stories.

Aziz Ansari is great. One to watch for the future.

Dane Cook. :bang:

Bang on. His "Ponderland" show was very hit or miss (but those shows tend to be, it's all really the quality of the clips he finds, which is the downfall of Russell Howard's show too), but his stand-up which was shown on Channel 4 earlier in the year, about the fallout of the Andrew Sachs thing, and his talk about the VMA's, it was so fucking funny. I always thought of him as a funny bloke, only his stand-up just wasn't up to scratch, but that really made me re-evaluate him. He excels when he doesn't try to be a bit 'weird' and debonair and instead just tells a fucking funny story from his life.

Dane Cook gets way, way too much shit - especially considering that his recent stuff is a lot better than his old stuff which I agree could be more than a little bit annoying. He flat out realized the shit that he was doing before and around the time of his most recent album, straightened up and now his stuff I can listen to multiple times without a few groans.

Aziz Ansari is going to, one day, be higher on this list I hope - but with only one special out there and his work on a rather successful television show for only two seasons - I can understand him being where he is at the moment.

Wish I'd voted now, Stewart Lee would've been easy top ten, or at the very least would be above Frankie 'Don't you think (insert famous person) looks like a (insert 'funny' sounding animal)s vagina' Boyle. Finally saw him in standup earlier this year and was burnt out within 10 minutes, panel shows are very good for him.
