In the... um. Three hours or so we have left until Not the Oscars or the Emmys kicks off, I thought those of us who care at all could do some predictions of who will win/who we want to win and/or react to things that happen.

The Golden Globes! Ricky Gervais will say mean things about people and then grin like a huge jerkass! Exciting. Nominees behind the spoiler cut, with who I want to win (or who I think will win if I don't care) under the cut. I did the full one just so all the categories are there, but god that took forever so feel free to cut it down as you see fit.

Best Motion Picture, Drama

* Black Swan

* The Fighter

* Inception

* The King's Speech

* The Social Network

(Very, very tough field but I think Social Network is going to be the awards show favorite.)

Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy

* Alice in Wonderland

* Burlesque

* The Kids Are All Right

* Red

* The Tourist

(Seriously, what the fuck is this list of nominees? The Tourist? Kids Are All Right wins by virtue of being the only movie that CAN win.)

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama)

* Jesse Eisenberg - The Social Network as Mark Zuckerberg

* Colin Firth - The King’s Speech as King George VI

* James Franco - 127 Hours as Aron Ralston

* Ryan Gosling - Blue Valentine as Dean

* Mark Wahlberg - The Fighter as Micky Ward

(Eisenberg, Firth, and Gosling are all deserving. Franco and Wahlberg I haven't seen. Very tough field. I went with Gosling partially because Blue Valentine is very fresh in my mind and also because I think he did an amazing job of showing all the different sides of his character in a way that Firth, for me, didn't and Eisenberg, because of the character he was playing, couldn't.)

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama)

* Halle Berry - Frankie and Alice as Frankie/Alice

* Nicole Kidman - Rabbit Hole as Becca Corbett

* Jennifer Lawrence - Winter's Bone as Ree Dolly

* Natalie Portman - Black Swan as Nina Sayers

* Michelle Williams - Blue Valentine as Cindy

(This is Portman's to lose. Haven't seen Kidman, Lawrence, or Berry's performances and Williams is absolutely deserving too, but this is the role of a lifetime for Portman.)

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy)

* Johnny Depp - Alice in Wonderland as Mad Hatter

* Johnny Depp - The Tourist as Frank Tupelo

* Paul Giamatti - Barney's Version as Barney Panofsky

* Jake Gyllenhaal - Love and Other Drugs as Jamie Randall

* Kevin Spacey - Casino Jack as Jack Abramoff

(Jesus. Just... wow. Certainly won't be Depp for The Tourist, I don't think anyone cared enough about Love and Other Drugs and who's even seen Barney's Version? Depp could win it for Alice in Wonderland, but I think Spacey will win even if nobody seems to have actually liked Casino Jack.)

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy)

* Annette Bening - The Kids Are All Right as Nic

* Anne Hathaway - Love and Other Drugs as Maggie Murdock

* Angelina Jolie - The Tourist as Elise Ward

* Julianne Moore - The Kids Are All Right as Jules

* Emma Stone - Easy A as Olive Penderghast

(Benning vs. Moore, basically.)

Best Supporting Actor

* Christian Bale - The Fighter as Dicky Eklund

* Michael Douglas - Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps as Gordon Gekko

* Andrew Garfield - The Social Network as Eduardo Saverin

* Jeremy Renner - The Town as James "Jem" Coughlin

* Geoffrey Rush - The King's Speech as Lionel Logue

(I want Rush to win this. I think Bale will (The Fighter is one of the two 2010 movies I've yet to see that I really want to before my top ten for the year is solid), and Garfield isn't impossible.)

Best Supporting Actress

* Amy Adams - The Fighter as Charlene Fleming

* Helena Bonham Carter - The King's Speech as Queen Elizabeth

* Mila Kunis - Black Swan as Lily

* Melissa Leo - The Fighter as Alice Eklund

* Jacki Weaver - Animal Kingdom as Janine 'Smurf' Cody

(Best performance in The King's Speech to me was HBC's and I think it's winning something tonight.)

Best Director

* Darren Aronofsky - Black Swan

* David Fincher - The Social Network

* Tom Hooper - The King's Speech

* Christopher Nolan - Inception

* David O. Russell - The Fighter

(Aronofsky vs. Fincher. Neither choice is wrong, but I think Social Network's taking Best Picture so Best Director to Aronofsky.)

Best Screenplay

* Simon Beaufoy, Danny Boyle - 127 Hours

* Stuart Blumberg, Lisa Cholodenko - The Kids Are All Right

* Christopher Nolan - Inception

* David Seidler - The King's Speech

* Aaron Sorkin - The Social Network

(I think Sorkin vs. Nolan here, and I think Sorkin's taking it.)

Best Original Score

* Alexandre Desplat - The King's Speech

* Danny Elfman - Alice in Wonderland

* A.R. Rahman - 127 Hours

* Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross - The Social Network

* Hans Zimmer - Inception

(I liked the music in The King's Speech too, though. Can't even remember Inception's anymore.)

Best Original Song

* "Bound to You" - Burlesque

* "Coming Home" - Country Strong

b]* "I See the Light" - Tangled

* "There's a Place For Us" - The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

* "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" - Burlesque

(Yeah okay I don't give a fuck. Went for Tangled because "Mother Knows Best" should have been nominated, dammit.)

Best Animated Feature Film

* Despicable Me

* How to Train Your Dragon

* The Illusionist

* Tangled

* Toy Story 3

(It's a pity that any of these movies didn't come out this year where there isn't a strong Pixar film to win yet again.)

Best Foreign Language Film

* Biutiful • Mexico

* The Concert • France

* The Edge • Russia

* I Am Love • Italy

* In a Better World • Denmark

(Don't really care about this one, but I Am Love is the one I've heard of.)

Best television series (Drama)

Musical or Comedy

* Boardwalk Empire

* Dexter

* The Good Wife

* Mad Men

* The Walking Dead

(Boardwalk isn't dynamic enough, Dexter and Walking Dead weren't well-written enough. Mad Men for the win.)

Best television series (Musical or Comedy)

* 30 Rock

* The Big Bang Theory

* The Big C

* Glee

* Modern Family

* Nurse Jackie

(30 Rock and Modern Family are the two-best written shows here, and of the two only one has broad audience appeal. Glee is a pop culture force right now but it's just been so badly written in season two that I can't see it getting the win if people vote sensibly.)

Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama)

Actress

* Steve Buscemi - Boardwalk Empire as Nucky Thompson

* Bryan Cranston - Breaking Bad as Walter White

* Michael C. Hall - Dexter as Dexter Morgan

* Jon Hamm - Mad Men as Don Draper

* Hugh Laurie - House as Dr. Gregory House

(Two words; "The Suitcase." Jon Hamm wins.)

Best Actress in a Television Series (Drama)

* Julianna Margulies - The Good Wife as Alicia Florrick

* Elisabeth Moss - Mad Men as Peggy Olson

* Piper Perabo - Covert Affairs as Annie Walker

* Katey Sagal - Sons of Anarchy as Gemma Teller Morrow

* Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer as Brenda Leigh Johnson

(See above, except I'll be shocked if Moss actually wins going against a more popular show in The Good Wife and bigger-name actresses in Sedgwick and Sagal.)

Best Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy)

Actress

* Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock as Jack Donaghy

* Steve Carell - The Office as Michael Scott

* Thomas Jane - Hung as Ray Drecker

* Matthew Morrison - Glee as Will Schuester

* Jim Parsons – The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon Cooper

(The "We'll Miss You, Michael Scott" award. Parsons could take it as BBT is the bigger comedy and he has the Emmy win, Alec Baldwin is Alec Baldwin, and Glee is big so Morrison can't be counted out but Will is easily the worst main character on it. Jane has no hope in hell.)

Best Actress in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy)

* Toni Collette - United States of Tara as Tara Gregson

* Edie Falco - Nurse Jackie as Jackie Peyton

* Tina Fey - 30 Rock as Liz Lemon

* Laura Linney - The Big C as Cathy Jamison

* Lea Michele - Glee as Rachel Berry

(I want Fey to win. I think Collette and Falco are going to be the ones who actually do battle for it.)

Best Actor in a mini-series or TV film

Actress

* Idris Elba - Luther as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther

* Ian McShane - The Pillars of the Earth as Waleran Bigod

* Al Pacino - You Don't Know Jack as Jack Kevorkian

* Dennis Quaid - The Special Relationship as President Bill Clinton

* Édgar Ramírez - Carlos as Carlos the Jackal

(Hey, it's Al Pacino!)

Best Actress in a mini-series or TV film

* Hayley Atwell - The Pillars of the Earth as Aliena

* Claire Danes - Temple Grandin as Temple Grandin

* Judi Dench - Return to Cranford as Matty Jenkyns

* Romola Garai - Emma as Emma Woodhouse

* Jennifer Love Hewitt - The Client List as Samantha Horton

(Okay, I don't care at all here.)

Best Supporting Actor

* Scott Caan - Hawaii Five-0 as Danny Williams

* Chris Colfer - Glee as Kurt Hummel

* Chris Noth - The Good Wife as Peter Florrick

* Eric Stonestreet - Modern Family as Cameron Tucker

* David Strathairn - Temple Grandin as Professor Carlock

(No chance for Noth or Caan, probably no chance for Strathairn. Stonestreet deserves it more but Colfer might sneak it out, especially since it's not necessarily an award for comedic acting (where Colfer was nominated in the Emmys even though his nomination was surely on the strength of dramatic scenes).)

Best Supporting Actor

* Hope Davis - The Special Relationship as Hillary Clinton

* Jane Lynch - Glee as Sue Sylvester

* Kelly Macdonald - Boardwalk Empire as Margaret Schroeder

* Julia Stiles - Dexter as Lumen Pierce

* Sofía Vergara - Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett

(This one is easy. Stiles has a chance, as does maybe Vergara. But Jane Lynch's loss last year was an upset and you might as well give her the award before Glee really implodes.)

Best mini-series or TV film

* Carlos

* The Pacific

* The Pillars of the Earth

* Temple Grandin

* You Don't Know Jack

(Probably.)

I'd say if anything, Black Swan is going to be the one that's the award show darling. They loved it in Venice and the Globes were very kind to The Wrestler, if I recall, so Aronofsky has history on his side. The Kids Are All Right *has* to win, although I think I'd prefer Moore to win it over Benning. Somehow, unfortunately, I could see Hathaway managing to win the award too which would be a travesty, and I love Anne Hathaway.

I'd also reckon that Glee might just sneak the best Comedy/Musical based on Season One: even though a portion of Season Two has been fairly bleh, would I be right in saying that they're technically voting on the second half of Season One? Jane Lynch should win it, especially since Sofia Vergara is pretty much on the Glee train herself now thanks to Funny or Die. I'm just hoping that they give the win to Chris Colfer, to be honest, but Cameron is amazing so it'd hurt not to see him win.

Don't want to try and guess who will win, but The Social Network will likely end up the all-round winners.

What I'd like to win in the film section:

Best Motion Picture, Drama: The Social Network

Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy: The Kids Are All Right

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama): James Franco - 127 Hours as Aron Ralston

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama): Natalie Portman - Black Swan as Nina Sayers

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy): Jake Gyllenhaal - Love and Other Drugs as Jamie Randall

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy): Julianne Moore - The Kids Are All Right as Jules

Best Supporting Actor: Andrew Garfield - The Social Network as Eduardo Saverin

Best Supporting Actress: Mila Kunis - Black Swan as Lily

Best Director: Christopher Nolan - Inception

Best Screenplay: Christopher Nolan - Inception

Best Animated Feature Film: How to Train Your Dragon

I am shocked that DiCaprio isn't in the Best Actor category, as well as Gordon-Levitt in Best Supporting Actor.

I'm not surprised on Gordon-Levitt at all. DiCaprio is only mildly surprising; I would take any of the performances nominated that I've actually seen over his and I imagine Franco was better too.

Everyone seems to think DiCaprio is suddenly a good actor just because he's taken a few good roles. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here, the guy has gotten BETTER, but by no means is he particularly that good yet.

I hope Inception doesn't win. I love Nolan, but man, it never managed to be more than entertaining for me. I hope Modern Family can pick up an award somewhere, the show isn't quite as good as Community, but it always manages to be at least entertaining, if not great.

Wait, what? He's a fairly good actor (probably better than Wahlberg, who beat him out this year). It's just that neither of his roles last year were really Oscar or Golden Globe caliber, especially not when the field is as strong as it is this year.

Certainly not for Inception or Shutter Island. Of course, with J. Edgar on the horizon for 2012 he's got his next big shot at an Oscar on the way. (Seriously. A biopic directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Dustin Lance Black? Jesus.)

DiCaprio is a fucking incredible actor these days. He used to be insufferable, but he's matured into one of the best actors going. His character in Inception was just a bit too similar to the one from Shutter Island, but I enjoyed both movies. I don't mind if he doesn't win, but to sa he sucks is sillyness.

Two minutes in and Ricky Gervais has already made the room deeply uncomfortable and completely buried The Tourist being nominated. Fantastic.

Seriously, he's not even very funny, it's just such a fascinating thing to watch.

EDIT: Christian Bale has won Best Supporting Actor. Nothing shocking there.

EDIT II: Oh my god, he is going forever. They actually cut his mic.

EDIT III: Katey Sagal for Best Actress in a TV Drama. As much as I wanted Elisabeth Moss to win, I just watched the first episode of Sons of Anarchy today and she was amazing in it.

EDIT IV: Ahahahaha, they're showcasing all the movies that are up for Best Picture in either category. This is going to get very sad for Comedy and Musical.

EDIT V: Chris Colfer wins Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series. His stunned reaction is kind of wonderful.

That it was a terrible movie that nobody liked or saw and yet it somehow got nominated for shit, basically.

Steve Buscemi for Best TV Actor. Really not a deserving win but he's a movie star and he was still pretty good in Boardwalk.

EDIT: Boardwalk Empire for Best TV Series (Drama) just sort of offhandedly. Bullshit.

EDIT II: Ricky Gervais is just getting painfully lazy now. Let's not have him threepeat, Golden Globes.

EDIT III: Tina Fey and Steve Carell, god bless you.

EDIT IV: Jane Lynch for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series! Rock.

Robert De Niro gets his Cecil B. DeMille award. They do the traditional montage of great films he was in... and they include a clip from The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle. Brilliant.

Hahahaha, he's doing a better comedy monologue than Gervais at the top of the show.

They did that for Shutter Island too when Scorsese received it last year.

Yeah, Social Network is getting everything tonight with probably the exception of Best Actor. Best Actor and Actress are pretty much just going to be The King's Speech and Black Swan's consolation prizes.

EDIT: Glee wins Best Comedy. This awards show is stupid.
