Wasn't a red card, the ref got that wrong, but it was definately a penalty. Hopefullynwe can use the man advantage in the second half. Still have Stevie and Bellamy to bring on as well.

Definite pen, foul in the box. The red card is embarassing though, both of Rodwells feet are on the ground after making a perfectly clean tackle and Suarez has ran into his knee. For a quick example of Mr Atkinsons consistency, he is the man who waved play on to Hatem Ben Arfas double leg break.

I'll be interested to see if it gets revoked on appeal. Obviously it should but you never know these days with the 'referees are infallible' viewpoint of the FA.

It was a clear penalty, Jagielka comes right through the back of him. Suarez's reaction is OTT, but the majority of players would have gone down in a fairly similar way.

Fears about Adam being confirmed here, though. A pastiche of Alonso.

I think Adam's doing alright, he knocks the ball around quite well. Yes he's no Alonso, but hardly anyone is. He does a job, and will probably be on the bwnch when Gerrard is fit again anyway

What was Carroll's goal like? How's he looked, back to the kind of form he was showing at Newcastle?

Liverpool goal: Out of nothing, the Reds take the lead. Jose Enrique does well to get to the by-line down the left and Dirk Kuyt cleverly ducks to get out of the way of his pull-back, which finds Andy Carroll to turn his first-time shot into the bottom corner. A quality finish.

And that was not Leighton Baines' finest moment, for sure.
