In bubble news, Northwestern just shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and got bounced by Minnesota in the first round of the Big 10 tournament. That first berth might have to wait yet another year.

Has there ever been a Duke-UNC national championship game? I can't remember them ever even meeting in the tournament at all. I did a couple google searches but couldn't find anything.

No. Can't guarantee they've never met in the tournament (though they haven't in my life), but they've never faced off in a National Championship.

I'm pretty sure only 1 team got in from the ACC for so long, and Duke wasn't that good for a long time (N.C. State was the "other" Carolina school for a long while) that they have never met in the tournament.

Wow. Got me thinking too and only thing I found was this wiki page. It says they've never faced each other in the NCAA tournament (but both were in Final Four in 1991) but did meet in the NIT once. It is somewhat surprising.
