Bob Holness has died

Felt the need to watch an episode....

Couldn't find the episodes that the lad I knew (he went to my school and we got the same bus so talked a bit despite him being 4 or 5 years older than me) was on. He played white and got through all the three Gold-runs.

Bob Holness fact (that may be shot down on further research), he was the first James Bond, playing him on radio before Connery on film.

Not quite - though it has more substance than the "Bob Holness played Sax on Baker Street" story.

Holness was the 2nd person to portray Bond, doing Moonraker on the Radio in 1956. However Barry Nelson portrayed Bond in a TV version of Casino Royale in 1954.

Though Holness was the first Brit to play Bond.

It was an iconic show for students so as it went on it the audience (who were usually the classmates of the contestants) came up with a little seated Macarena dance to add to their experience I guess. Also because like all the best shows beloved by students, it was a little bit "naff" (for want of a better word) which, teamed with a truly brilliant host just made the show even greater.
