2013 Summer Transfer Thread

See no reason in us signing Hitzlsperger. Our midfield is bloated enough with the likes of Drenthe, Guthrie, Karacan, Robson-Kanu, Kebe, McAnuff, Williams, Akpan, Mcleary and Leigherwood all vying for spots.

I just find the whole Suarez interview funny in the fact that he went to the papers not the other way around to bitch about not getting a move. The same media he wanted to get away from not to long ago only for Madrid not to come in with an offer and his only other option being a side that hasn't technically qualified for the Champions League yet and could possibly not get Champions League football next year.

If this clause isn't in his contract then end of the day we don't have to sell him. It makes no sense for us to sell him to rival who'll be fighting for a top 4 spot as well next season. If Arsenal are that desperate for him, put in an offer that the club are likely to accept. If he's that desperate to go he could easily put in a transfer request but that would mean losing out on money.

I just want the whole thing to be over and done with but there's another 26 days left in the transfer window so I know its just going to drag.

According to the BBC, Barca have made an offer for David Luiz.

Yep, saw that. Some of the flakier individuals on the Chelsea forum are resorting to the panicked "NOT UNLESS FOR A TONNE MORE MONEY" reflex ala Suarez (although no one has breached the Gareth Bale £100m mark yet :shifty:).

Doesn't bother me at all simply because I have zero belief that Luiz would want to leave, even if the offer is genuine. Every sign from him and the club is that he's happy, has a tonne of friends both at the club and in London, and there are also a number of quotes about how he's been looking forward to starting the new season under Mourinho. In summary, he ain't going anywhere.

But can any of them demolish a brick wall with just a football?

The president of Ligue 1 club Toulouse believes in-demand midfielder Etienne Capoue is poised to join Tottenham.

The 24-year-old France international has already been linked with Barclays Premier League club Cardiff and Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid but, in an interview with French radio station RMC, Olivier Sadran appeared to suggest Spurs have stolen a march on their rivals.
When asked about Capoue's departure to White Hart Lane, Sadran is quoted in L'Equipe as telling RMC: "He will go there."
Capoue, who plays as a defensive midfielder but can slot in at centre-back, scored seven goals in 34 league appearances for Toulouse last season.
Reports in France suggest Spurs will have to pay 11million euros plus two million in add-ons to land the Frenchman, who could sign a four-year contract after passing a medical in north London.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas has already signed Brazilian playmaker Paulinho, Belgian winger Nacer Chadli and Spain striker Roberto Soldado while Spurs look to fend off Real Madrid's advances for Wales midfielder Gareth Bale.

@TonyBarretTimes Looks like the PFA believe Liverpool's interpretation of Suarez's clause is correct. Interesting.

That's not even remotely interesting, the PFA always back the player. You'd have to stab a fellow player 14 times on the pitch to have Gordon Taylor turn on you.
