Your Team's Academy XI

So I was thinking about the players that have come through our academy in recent years and was wondering how it compares to others. So here's what I reckon ours would be:

GK: Scott Carson

LB: Luke Garbutt

CB: Matt Kilgallon

CB: Jonathan Woodgate

RB: Sam Byram

LM: Danny Rose

CM: Fabian Delph

CM: Lewis Cook

CM: Jonny Howson

RM: Aaron Lennon

ST: James Milner

Subs: Paul Robinson, Charlie Taylor, Tom Lees, Frazer Richardson, Alex Mowatt, Chris Dawson, Andy Keogh.

There's obviously a lack of strikers there and the centre half pairing and goalkeeping options looked better 5 years ago but there's a fair bit of premier league experience in there plus the likes of Cook, Byram and Mowatt who will end up playing in the top flight at some point, you'd think.

So what about other teams?

GK: Jake Kean

LB: Martin Olsson
CB: Grant Hanley
CB: Jay McEveley
RB: Adam Henley

LW: Damien Duff
DCM: Phil Jones
CM: David Dunn
RW: Jason Wilcox

ST: James Beattie
ST: Junior Hoilett

SUB: Frank Fielding (GK)
SUB: Jason Lowe
SUB: Josh Morris
SUB: Alan Judge
SUB: Keith Treacy
SUB: Paul Gallagher
SUB: Matt Derbyshire

Not an awful team. Opposite of Leeds though, more forward options than defence. The midfield would be pretty tasty.

How strict are we being about this? E.G. Ryan Bertrand joined Chelsea from Gillingham at the age of 16. Does he qualify? Does it have to be their very first club?

As something of an opposing example, Andy King was at Chelsea from age 10 and moved to Leicester at age 15...

GK Oh fuck knows. Jamal Blackman? Rhys Evans? Srsly.

DR Sam Hutchinson or Todd Kane. One of those.

DC Michael Mancienne

DC John Terry :shifty: Jeffrey Bruma, ugh.

DL Ryan Bertrand.

MR Gokhan Tore

MC Jack Cork

MC Nathaniel Chalobah

ML Scott Sinclair

ST Fabio Borini

ST Carlton Cole - so lacking in strikers that I have to venture back into the 1990s, obviously.

Erm...other names lurking around include Patrick van Aanholt, Liam Bridcutt, Miroslav Stoch, Josh McEachran, and so on.

Some positions we've done well through the Rafa (pinch all the spanish kids) and Dalglish years when we started to revamp the academy but certain positions have been really lacking such as striker and goalkeepers. Other notables would be the likes of Tom Ince, Gary Mackay-Steven, Kasami, Guthrie etc.

"Notable players to come through the Tottenham Hotspur Academy include Ledley King, Glenn Hoddle, Peter Crouch, Stephen Carr, Nick Barmby, Ian Walker , David Beckham and Sol Campbell all of whom have gone on to represent their country at international level."

I'll work out a current team in a second.
