  1. Nice assumption after 4 games.
  2. Sigh, perfect chance to give some new blood a chance rather than sticking with the old, washed up, tried and trusted (although you're mad if you trust Heskey to do well). Give the likes of Dave Nugent, Gabby Agbanlahor, and so on a chance, if they fuck up, it shouldn't be too bigger deal as it's not like they'd play 90 minutes if they actually played.
  3. You played alright, never really looked like you were going to do us any damage though, maybe in the last 5 minutes of normal time, but that's probably just due to me being used to goals going in for other teams around then, so everything looked dangerous. We probably should've put a couple more past you but your keeper was on form and Kandol had a tendency to put it into the side netting or just over. Blackwell and Wise? Not sure, something went off after the match, but we were too busy singing "3 more points to go, until we get to zero" and "we're goin'a win the league" to notice, it looked like Poyet and Carver to me, could've been Wisey, but it was definitely Carver. Unless you're talking about something else. It'll be in the Yorkshire Post tomorrow morning. Something happened between our south stand fans and your fans though, around the hour mark, things were being thrown and fists flying, every cop in the stadium rushed over, not sure what it was all about though, I was watching the pitch, and all of a sudden caught a glimpse of loads of police charging towards the away end. Chant of the day was: "Blackwell, what's the score? Blackwell, Blackwell what's the score? Blackwell your mum's a whore. Blackwell, Blackwell your mum's a whore."
  4. Top four if you're talking about the real league table Up next Hartlepool at home and then Bristol away, after that we've finally got some easier games. 3 more points to go-o, 'til we get to 0.
  5. Just to confirm for the rest of EWB (as if they care ), yes he has. Anyone know if he's any good, never seen him play, but he seems pretty bloody highly rated, surprised you let him go. Still could do with another defender, preferably left or right, I'm not keen on a defence consisting of: Ben Parker (who is decent, but plays better on left wing), Jamie Clapham (who's on loan), Matt Heath, Rui Marques, the lad Huntington and Frazer bloody Richardson
  6. Ah, we got another name in, 19 (almost 20) year old centre half Paul Huntington from Newcastle. I'd have prefered Rob Jones, but apparently he wants to come (it's only Hearts not wanting him to leave) so maybe he can come too, because we could probably still do with another defender or 2. An injury or 2 and we're fucked at the moment.
  7. The apocolypse is coming. Le Sulk showing commitment?
  8. Apparently there was a lot of backstage conflict between Penney and the chairman, the reason he gave for quitting was poor too, with Rovers now being such an ambitious club, 'Ive taken them as far as i can' didnt wash. And i agree that O'Driscoll is a shocking manager too, last season a lot of popular names were thrown up as possible replacements for Penney (including Kevin Keegan), and then O'Driscoll was named, everybody was like 'who!?'. He's only got a job now because we scraped past the Gas for the JP Trophy. My mates dad used to play with Penny and is good friends with him - he was over one time when I went for my mate (didn't recognise him until my mate said when we were outside ), real reason was he was tired of the chairman being too controlling over the team coupled with him wanting a bigger challenge (he applied for our job shortly, i.e. days, before Wise got it). Also, Man Utd won't win the league this year, that's not really for the CCL thread though, and Man City's form (sadly) won't hold up long enough for a top four finish either. I hate how assistants and managers can be sidelined for having a go at referees, seriously it's not like Poyet said "Andy D'Urso is shit, he needs the sack" he said that he still holds grudges from Dennis' and his Chelsea days and he wants someone else to referee in the future. What's wrong with that? I'm not just saying it because it's my teams' assistant either, I feel the same everytime this happens. If a ref is mucking up you should be able to complain.
  9. Michael Bridges is awesome... against you. Sign him and he's the biggest crock of shit since Stephen Crainey. That being said, if he'd have stayed fit throughout his career he'd have been an England international, I remember the year he first was at Leeds and set the premier league on fire. Good times, good times.
  10. We're still trying for the Hearts captain Rob Jones, someone from Blackpool and a few others. If not we might have to settle for Thomas Brolin.
  11. Can't stand United but Ole was a good 'un, be nice to see him back in a coaching role.
  12. I'm 50/50, we don't have a good track record against Warnock, who's a good boss, but then again it might be worth seeing us drop a few points just to hear his interviews about referees. That being said, I'm expecting him to take the job of whoever gets sacked at premiership level or at least a top championship side. You shouldn't have ever let Dave Penny quit.
  13. Tranmere have rejected another offer from Leeds for Steve Davis. Seems we really can't sign anyone despite the fact we're doing well - minus the points deduction.
  14. Yeah, apparently it was a rare heart condition that's hard to spot. It's sad, but if he was having problems (I can't see them testing him unless he was complaining about something), they should've stopped him playing until they'd thoroughly tested him. RIP Puerta.
  15. Alan Thompson, Johnny Douglas, Dave Prutton, Curtis Weston, Seb Carole, Ian Westlake, Shaun Derry and Andy Hughes all beg to differ, and a few youths (plus Gylfi Einarsson) too. That being said, it is a strong midfield you have under the OAP specialist, you're likely to make the play-off's minimum if that midfield stay fit and in form.
  16. Smells Like Teen Spirit has far too many votes when Nirvana, themselves, wrote so many better songs, Angels by Robbie is a good bet, ditto for Bohemian Rhapsody. I'd be tempted to go for November Rain by Guns and Roses, not many people will agre with me, but something about the song screams brilliance to me, it's better than Sweet Child O' Mine, which also got more votes than it deserves. That being said, someone will suggest something else and I'l change my mind.
  17. Matt

    Bad Covers...

Lily Allen (I think) covering "Oh my God (I can't believe it)", makes me want to blow my brains out. I don't mind Green Day's version of WCH, yuck to any Avril Lavigne cover particularly Fuel and Basket case.
  18. Because Middlesborough had an average UEFA cup run and went out to the first half decent opposition they met.
  19. Jamie Clapham's been brought in on loan to replace Lewis who was covering the left back position. Seriously, did it not occur once to Wisey that Stephen Crainey was shit, and we got rid of him, and we only had Micky Gray on loan, thus we have no left backs. So instead of signing 10 midfielders and 8 strikers, we should have gotten a decent left defender?
  20. Wasn't Riise set to leave, though? Also, Man Utd fans moaning about players moaning about people not honouring contracts is great when you think of all the clubs that moan about Man Utd buying players instead of letting them do the same thing - well mainly us about Rio, but yannow.... That being said, Heinze should shut the fuck up and focus on his football before he ends up being Winston Bogarde 2007, in that he's stuck with the youth team - not that he refused to leave
  21. The referee indicates an indirect free kick by raising his arm above his head. He maintains his arm in that position until the kick has been taken and the ball has touched another player or goes out of play. - The FA.com He certainly did not keep his arm raised until the kick was taken. And you can't shoot from an indirect (which thinking about it only makes sense), therefore he didn't give one.
  22. Wow, Sheff Utd are shockingly bad on this game. They're worse than some Championship teams.
  23. So it's an indirect free kick then. The hand signal from Rob Styles was to indicate an indirect free kick. He just still had the card in his hand! Have you seen it yet? There was no way he was just holding up a hand to indicate it's an indirect free kick. He said something to Essien because he wasn't moving away from the ball, told him to go away then held up the card. Essien's reaction also said everything, he thought he'd gone. He also claimed he was just clarifying he'd booked Terry. If it was because it was for an indirect freekick then why not just say that? The Match of the Day edit backed up my story. If it was your way, then he never gave the indirect signal, and they never do that. You can tell if you don't watch it in slow motion. He still should've came out and said it though, I bet he didn't even realise until after the game. Watching Hanson talk about it now.... and he made no sense at all. Gerrard or whoever shot from the freekick though, which you can't do from an indirect, unless I'm confusing the two up.
  24. Descent from Chelsea players, there was no foul but they were moaning Torres should've been booked for diving, which he didn't, he just ran into Ben Haim (I think it was).
