  1. Savatage - Gutter Ballet - Ghost in the Ruins - The Hourglass - Can You Hear Me Now - Midas Knight On Savatage: Difficult to choose single songs from a band whose main body of work seems to consist of concept albums. But I know their discography so well, I managed to choose my personal favourites quite fast. May not be the concensus 'best' songs, but that wasn't the point, now, was it? Judas Priest - Rock Hard Ride Free - Cathedral Spires - Grinder - The Sentinel - Savage On Priest: A huge back catalogue: 30+ years of recording and 16 studio albums. But those are my picks. Iron Maiden - For the Greater Good of God - Hallowed Be Thy Name - Afraid to Shoot Strangers - Childhood's End - Aces High On Maiden: I think I went with a bit too many 'epic' songs I like a lot, instead of just a bit simpler songs that I love. I'm not too happy with that list, but I'm not going to start changing it anymore. Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side - Time Stands Still - Born in a Mourning Hall - Valhalla - Majesty On Blind Guardian: I haven't listened to any of their albums for something like a year now, so this wasn't all that easy. But basically, "Imaginations" has my favourite songs and I love the album from beginning to end. I rounded up the list with some other faves. I didn't think about it too much. Dio - Holy Diver - Sunset Superman - Fever Dreams - Last in Line - All the Fools Sailed Away By this time, making the list is getting a bit boring already. I didn't know it would get this difficult. Of all five artists, Dio was the hardest to choose five songs from. Again, a big back catalogue, and lots of awesome single songs. I didn't feel right leaving out some of my all-time favourite songs, like Egypt or Rainbow in the Dark, but I feel better now after I mentioned them here.
  2. I don't play music off my computer though. I have an mp3 player for travel and use a computer to rip albums for the player, but for home listening I have a separate sound system where I play my CD's. The player does recognise discs but doesn't count how many times you listen to everything. I am a heavy consumer, but I guess the only way to count anything is by hand.
  3. But it only works with an ipod, that's lame. No use for me.

    Catchy music

Pink Cream 69, check out their album Sonic Dynamite. Also, Axxis. Back to the Kingdom is full of awesome catchy tunes.
  5. Excellent band, one of my favourites. And along with Slayer and Annihilator, the best thrash metal band ever. I'm more into the Skolnick era of Testament, so I especially like the first five albums. And of course the new one.
  6. Since you like Van Halen, try Quiet Riot.
  7. Never heard. They look like they have lots of angst.
  8. Quiet Riot. For a brief moment they were the most awesome metal band in the world. "Metal Health" is still a classic album.
  9. Savatage performing the Chance live, which is quite a feat in itself with all the counterpoint vocals and all.
  10. I was just listening to A Tyranny of Souls this morning. Good shit.
  11. Never heard. Isn't Leon a town in Spain or something?

    New music

I didn't know it was a competition on who can name more bands. I say you only need to get into one band and that's SAVATAGE.
  13. From whole albums, I only ever heard Smash. It's catchy and fun. And from what I've heard on the radio / videos on telly, Offspring are fun. Again, not my type of music, but I'd easily pick them over the Deftones and Muse. By far the best of the MTV-type pop-punk bands.
  14. Playing full CD's. Right now it's Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King. Currently playing 'Legions'.
  15. Don't know much about this band, aside from a random video or two I've seen on telly I didn't especially like. They came out around the time nu-metal was getting big, so I was instantly turned off by them. Anyway, I think I'm neutral, slightly leaning on the negative side. Never really cared about this kind of music. EDIT: WTF. I was talking about the Deftones. I didn't know you're going to post another band right up. Muse, I don't mind at all. I had this one album from a friend of mine who likes them. It was quite good. Could possibly listen to them a bit more. But, honestly, it's not really my type of music, so in the end I wouldn't buy an album. I wouldn't want to listen to Muse THAT much to justify it - I don't know if an album of theirs could stand re-listens. At least not on my stereos. There's too much awesome stuff I keep lining up for my player, and never have enough time to play all.
  16. Suggest ear phones, then go search for porn on the entire rest of the internet. I don't know much about earphones, but you need to lighten up.
  17. Okay, maybe with the Savatage one I was going too much in the direction of 'epic' and not towards 'distinguishable riff'. (crap quality live footage, but there's no promo video for the song) But here's a good one - by Mustasch
  18. "Morphine Child" by Savatage
  19. If I had 721 votes, so would I.

    Album Wishlist

I don't have a wishlist. I just get what I want if I feel the urge to get it. There's a bunch of record stores nearby, and if I can't find what I want there, I can always order online. A few years ago when I was still in college I did make wishlists, but that was because I was always broke. When I did happen to get money I immediately got a CD or two before I spent it all on booze. Or food. Or books, can you imagine.

    Need something happy...

Upbeat power metal should do the trick. Try: "Future World" by Helloween "Young Souls" by Axxis "Hunting High and Low" by Stratovarius "Wanderlust" by Nightwish
  23. Classic, melodic, speed, thrash, power, glam, progressive, 70's hard rock and a bit of extreme when in the mood.
