    Fozzy

The first two Fozzy albums are fantastic. I don't think they ever would have got anywhere without Chris Jericho and, to a lesser extent, Rich Ward in the band, though, as they started out as almost entirely a covers band. The third album, though, sounds a little lacklustre in comparison, I feel, as does Rich's solo project. I think the great man's losing his touch, sadly.
  2. It's already been said that the indie day will be the first day.
  3. I saw a Batman vs. Predator comic once. True story.
  4. So....wait, hang on here... You're complaining that instead of two days of one genre, you get three days spanning different genres? And the bad part of this is where? No one's forcing you to watch all of the bands on the first day and, who knows, maybe you'll *gasp* like some of the bands playing? At least wait until the line-up's been announced before you start complaining to anyone who'll listen.
  5. Even here in Jersey, detatched from the rest of the world, we have a thriving music scene with countless punk, garage rock and metal bands, not to mention unique genre-defying wonderfullness, so to say that "rock is dead" because there's a few less rock bands in the charts than there was a few years ago is ridiculous. And as for the article saying that bands had to crossover and do more "pop" style songs or whatever, and then saying that the likes of Creed, Blink 182 and Coldplay never did is just ridiculous. The media latches on to bands that they think will appeal to the general public, and that's what gets into the charts and therefore is, by definition, "Pop". And even if they hadn't, oh noes, God forbid a band varies their style...
  6. That's the funniest thing I've read all week
  7. From what I understand, owning an emulator itself is perfectly legal. It is legal to keep a ROM file if you already own a physical hard-copy of that game, or if you only keep the ROM on your computer for less than 24 hours. Whether that's true or just urban myth, I don't know, but it's the most common answer I've heard.

    Fozzy

I'm fairly sure you can only get them off the interweb, to be honest, I've never heard of one anywhere.
  9. Hmmm....although I'm not really a massive fan of any of the bands, besides The Cure, that's an insanely packed soundtrack, and I should think all of the bands, except possibly Foo Fighters, should be able to get something dark enough to suit the Batman thang...if it's true, then it's great news for the film, methinks.
  10. Yesssss, how did I forget Streets Of Rage 2?! Utterly fantastic! Almost light lounge jazz as you knocked several shades of crap out of Galsia/Garcia over and over again. God, I loved that game.
  11. I bought the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack and love it like a mother, I'm also rather fond of the original Sonic The Hedgehog soundtrack, and the cheery acid trip eternal loop of the Alex Kidd In Miracle World soundtrack. I demand each and every one of you heads over to http://www.ocremix.org NOW.

  13. The Wisdom Of Crocodiles. It's a bizarre thriller/horror/crime film with Jude Law, who I normally hate, but I loved him in this role. It also had the guy who played Barry on Auf Weidersen, Pet! I can't really say much about it without giving it away, but it's incredibly enthralling, brilliantly written and amazingly quotable.

  15. Foo Fighters - Not a huge fan, but could be good to see live Iron Maiden - Awesome live band, should pull in a good audience, as well as a large amount of teeny metallers QOTSA - Meh...could go and see them if nothing else is on Pixies - Sheer awesomeness, of course Kasabian - Pretty good, wouldn't mind seeing Bloc Party - Not bad at all, again wouldn't mind seeing Velvet Revolver - I'm a G'n'R mark at heart, so I would probably go and see them Muse - I'm pretty indifferent towards them, they're my brother's favourite band, though. Judging on what I've seen so far they put on a great live show, but I dunno if I'd enjoy them that much Hot Hot Heat - Great fun band, I imagine they'd be awesome to see live The Bravery - Can't say I know anything about them... Killing Joke - Were my favourite band a couple of years back, so I'd love to see them live Kaiser Chiefs - I've never heard their stuff, but I've heard good things about them so another possibility to watch if nothing else was on Mars Volta - Awesomeosity. Definitely one of the main selling points of this list for me Babyshambles - Definitely THE selling point for me, even above The Mars Volta, The Pixies and Killing Joke, Babyshambles are probably one of my favourite bands right now Elbow - Meh. Unless they threw in their cover of Independent Woman or Teardrop, then nah.
  16. As always, it depends on the nature of the song. If it's overly pretentious prog rock that's just long for the sake of it, then no. If it's experimental and allows for differentiation, then I love it. For example, Tim Buckley used to perform freeform jazz versions of his songs, so whilst on the album, and at some live shows, Song To The Siren clocks in at around 4 minutes, at live shows he'd stretch it out to up to half an hour. Also, I just bought a Sunn O))) album that has three tracks. The first is 14 minutes, the second 23, the third 25. I love it.
  17. I bought Wayne's World 1 & 2 a while back in a "3 for £17" offer at HMV along with Dr. Strangelove...I was intending to buy Dr. Strangelove anyway, and it would have cost me £16.01 by itself, so not a bad deal methinks
  18. During Film Studies this morning I starting to tear up a couple of times during East Is East. I tend to during most moderately emotional films now, to be honest.
  19. Either the end of the "Luck Of The Fryrish" episode of Futurama (the combination of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" and the subject matter is perfect) or the scene in Edward Scissorhands when Kim says "Hold me" and Edward replies "I can't..."...that gets me every time.
  20. http://www.live365.com/stations/msladyjewel is a fantastic "goth rock" radio station, which plays a whole range of music, mostly metal and techno, with a fair bit of 80s "goth" thrown in. http://www.circleofsouls.net is a good Pagan radio station, which has a decent late night metal show, and some really chilled out stuff during the day.
  21. Is it just me or do these sub-genres seem to only apply to punk and metal? It might be just because the majority of music lovers I know only really listen to those two genres, but there seem to far more categories of metal than any other genre, it's all too confusing. I remember the first time someone told me they were into "War Metal" and then later "Doom Metal" or something and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, it's just too much. On a mostly unrelated, but still genre-related note, I despise the term "Easy Listening".

    Busted Broke Up.

In the long run, I'm happy, in the short term, I'm annoyed. Busted were supposed to be playing a charity concert I'm involved with.
  23. None as really "lazy summer day" as that one, but you may want to give "Say It Ain't So" a shot. Anybody who starts spouting that "they ripped off so-and-so" b.s. gets banned for 24 hours. ← Who did they rip off then, apparently? ← The Pixies and Sonic Youth seem to be the general consensus from what I've heard, but I can't say I really agree with either.
  24. Thank you! Within Temptation kick large amounts of ass, seriously. Ice Queen is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Too bad I can't find their Mother Earth album here. ← To be fair, I'd suggest you stay away from Mother Earth if at all possible, it's easily their worst album, and I'd recommend their earlier stuff much more.
