  1. Oh, I'm not trying to say the Lions are any good, because that's not even remotely true. But a lot of the things people have said in defense of the Texans can be said about the Lions, too. They have a fairly good defense and (especially last year) tend to lose a lot of ther games by only 7-8 points. And I think they make fairly good moves in the draft and free agency, but it's just that those players don't pan out the way that the Lions (or anyone else) predict that they will. I guess when I made my last post, I was thinking more of "worst team" (on the field) and not "worst franchise" (on & off). Because as everyone has already said, the apathy of Ford and Millen has to put the Lions on top.
  2. It seems like everyone has horror stories about idiots ruining their multiplayer games, but I've never really had a problem with any of that. Maybe I've just been really lucky...but there are definitely a lot of cool people online, if you can find 'em, and playing online with them definitely adds a lot to certain games. But if you don't have much time for gaming, as you've said, maybe you'd be better off buying a long single-player game and spending your time with that. If you can't be online very often, it doesn't make a lot of sense to be paying for it every month.
  3. They've only been in the league for a few years, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Houston Texans. With absolutely no winning seasons and allowing their quarterback to be the most-sacked QB in the league seemingly every year (setting a record with 76 in 2002), I'd say they even beat out the Lions. Now, I know the Lions are awful, but if you watch their games (as I'm forced to every week, living in Michigan - Thanks, Fox) they're not that terrible. They usually make a lot of solid plays and generally look like they know what's going on. But every time I watch the Texans (which isn't a lot, I'll admit), I'm just shocked at how terrible they are. They're so uncoordinated that sometimes it seems like they grabbed eleven random guys off the street and marched 'em out onto the field.
  4. Ghost Rider: 5/10 Just as bad as everyone always says. Eva Mendes is nice to look at, and I always mark out for Peter Fonda, but the action and story are both pretty subpar. Shooter: 7/10 Pretty good movie, but the ending really, really dragged. I wish they had ended it with an alternate version of the scene in the mountains. The Fountain: 2/10 Absolutely hated it. Rachel Weisz looked great as the Queen of Spain, but that was about all I enjoyed. Of course, it didn't help that the movie was completely different from what I had been expecting. Oh well.
  5. I saw it tonight, too, and just had a blast. Like Pepsi said, great action, great comedy...it was just a lot of fun. That said, I thought one of the subplots (possibly the one Zero was referring to) was really pointless and lame...and for some reason, that blonde girl's accent absolutely drove me nuts. I kept waiting for someone to slap that bitch and tell her to speak some normal English.
  6. Hulk: 6/10 I was pretty surprised by Hulk, as it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is. The only real problem I had with it was that Nick Nolte's character was really weird and I didn't understand his motivations at all...especially his big speech at the end of the movie. Other than that, I liked the action and thought Connelly and Bana both did a good job. Fairly good movie, but not great. Unbreakable: 9.5/10 One of my absolute favorites. I love the way it's shot, with the long, long takes and how so many of the shots could pass for comic book covers on their own. The surprises obviously don't have much impact on repeat viewings, but it's a great movie overall. I don't see why so many people hate it. Reno 911: Miami: 4/10 A few funny bits here and there, but not nearly enough to carry an entire movie. A quick cameo by The Rock and a few nice tits bump it up to a four.
  7. Good lord, that looks awesome. And I'm glad to see the goofy GTA Jump alive and well at the halfway point. (Y)
  8. Live Free or Die Hard: 10/10 Loved it. Great action, great supporting cast, and the return of McClane. The only thing I didn't like about it was that, initially, it didn't feel like a Die Hard movie. Instead of being focused in a building, airport, or even a city, it feels weird when McClane has to go across state lines more than once to get the job done (though it's centered around D.C., so he's not really going that far...but hey). I know a lot of people are complaining about the PG-13 rating, but you don't need McClane to actually say fuck every other sentence to make a good movie. He's still the smart-ass that he always was, but doesn't go over the top like he used to...as is to be expected from an older McClane. That being said, I could tell there were more than a few places where they dubbed over some of the dialogue, so I'm sure the DVD release will satisfy everyone's craving for bad language. As a huge fan of the Die Hard series, this one didn't disappoint at all.
  9. I can't make anything fancy, so I kept mine small and simple. I know it's not much, but...I wanted to at least make something.
  10. 1408: 8/10 I've never read the story it was based on, but thought the movie was great. Very creepy throughout, with good performances by Cusack and Jackson. Loved the ending, too. And "Let's Encyclopedia Brown this bitch" has to be one of my favorite movie lines ever.
  11. Evan Almighty: 10/10 Wow. I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie, based solely on the few previews and clips I'd seen, but it really impressed me. It was consistently hilarious throughout, but with more than a few touching family scenes and even a good bit of drama near the end. Much better (and different, really) than Bruce Almighty, which I really liked. And the movie gets a bonus point [to push it to 10 for me] for reminding me of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, with Joan being "Noah"'s wife. (Y) I'll be looking forward to the DVD, 'cause I'm sure it'll have a "Wanda Sykes Reel", with alternate one-liners (like on the Talladega Nights DVD).
  12. I've never been a big fan of Jackass, but this looks like it could be fun. If there's a "create your own stunt" mode, or something, where you can put together some horrible deathtrap and get graded on how much pain/damage you've caused (like in Porrasturvat and Rekkaturvat), I'll definitely pick this up.
  13. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure The Future: I couldn't find a clip of their report, but that definitely goes on the list, too. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Ending: http://youtube.com/watch?v=966yJ1of18I I get chills every time I watch this. Easily my favorite movie ending ever. Die Hard: With a Vengeance Raiding the Federal Reserve: http://youtube.com/watch?v=B1X59j_Ll_E Remember the Titans Coach Yoast fires up the defense: ...and two that I couldn't find on Youtube: The ending to Escape from L.A. The scene in the final game in Angels in the Outfield, where Danny Glover goes out to the mound to talk to Tony Danza. It makes me cry every time I watch it. Hell, even thinking about it too much makes me start tearing up.
  14. Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer: 6.5/10 I'm one of the few people who liked the first movie, and this was more of the same. I thought the "real life" storylines [Johnny is a fuckup, Sue wants to live a normal life] were weaker than the first one, the Sue/Surfer story was pretty predictable, and I was kind of disappointed not to see the whole team taking part in the final battle, though...so it ranks a bit lower than the original. It's not the best movie in the world, but there are worse ways to spend your time. I didn't mind The Galactus Cloud, because having some big giant dude floating in space in a "realistic" superhero movie like this would look a little weird [and yes, I get that superheroes themselves are unrealistic, but you get the idea]. There are things that work well in comic books that wouldn't work as well in a live-action movie.
  15. GTA IV Two Worlds The Darkness Sim City DS And maybe Brothers in Arms DS.
  16. Mr. Brooks: 5/10 I only enjoyed about half the scenes in this movie, so it gets a 50%. I thought Costner and Hurt were great, but every scene that didn't have them together was incredibly boring. Of particular note were all the scenes with Demi Moore and her (ultimately pointless) backstory. I wasn't a fan of the ending, either, and would have liked it better if it had ended after the scene with the cell phone. Ocean's Thirteen: 8/10 I liked it a lot more than the second movie, which I hated, and maybe a little more than the first one. The comedy was good, and I loved the whole heist setup and execution. The visual style (and the colors, especially), fit really well with the whole "good old days" theme that ran through the movie.
  17. Pirates of The Carribean: At Worlds End: 9/10 I thought it dragged a bit in the middle, but the last hour or so more than made up for it. I'd only heard bad things about it going in (much like with Dead Man's Chest, which I loved), but didn't see any of the "problems" that everyone else had with it. What a great ending to the trilogy.
  18. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay has some great music. Though a lot of it sounds like it could have come from a Metal Gear Solid game.
  19. 1] Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War 2] Katamari Damacy 3] Romance of the Three Kingdoms X 4] Deus Ex 5] Def Jam: Fight for New York 6] GTA: San Andreas 7] Shadow Hearts 8] True Crime: New York City 9] WWE Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain 10] Namco X Capcom There are a ton more I'd like to add to the end of the list, too...like Okami, the Hitman games, and the Dynasty Warriors series.
  20. I've never played Halo multiplayer before, but after playing Gears and Crackdown for the past few days, it seems really, really slow. I keep wishing for a Run button, 'cause it feels like my Spartan is just plodding around waiting to get sniped.
  21. Back before they patched Gears of War, you couldn't hear people with mics who joined a game in progress...so when I joined a game and my mic wouldn't work, my team spent the next four or five matches interrogating me (and the other guy who had no mic) in our spawn area. "Okay, Doc Funky. Are you on the East Coast? Shoot me for yes, melee me for no. *thud* Okay, you're not." There are two awesome things that came from this: 1] We never lost a round, despite the fact that the other team got just about all the weapons while we played charades for the first two/three minutes of each round. 2] "Okay, AEROPOO. How old are you? One chainsaw rev for 10 years, one shot for one year. Okay?" "*rev, rev...*" And out of nowhere, AEROPOO just explodes. One of the guys on the other team had grabbed a grenade and tossed it into our area while we were dicking around. We were laughing for like fifteen minutes.
