  1. Love that outside of Ant-Man this is shaping up to be the year of Big Two superhero movies that look fun but also you have good cause to not want anything to do with the lead actor. Remarkable that Chris Pratt is maybe the least objectionable one of the lot.
  2. Squid Game-ass halftime show aesthetic I appreciate "All of the Lights" just being repurposed as just a Rihanna song, though.
  3. Rooting for the Eagles, which means they're losing.
  4. When they announced the returning cast it was everyone but Toby Huss so I assume Kahn will either be recast or written out. I do hope they find something for Toby to do, though, given that if it's an actual revival and not a reboot Cotton would be out of the picture as well.
  5. I find it's best that I don't. Just kind of faces real misfortune as being yet more dull culture war fodder while at the same time being the postershow for the trend of grafting established IP onto a premise in order to get the show made in the first place. Bit like if Venture Brothers were forced to be an actual Johnny Quest remake.
  6. Yeah, I'm really disappointed. Wonder if the cast was too relatively stacked for it to be worth it for other services. Not that it's like huge stars but pretty much anyone out of the top five billed actors on it are recognizable enough to be sitcom leads, so it was pretty much only boom or bust for it. Shame it didn't land on Apple, that's probably the one streaming service that I could have seen it fitting in well on and they're still in the "let's renew anything halfway good/popular" honeymoon phase.
  7. Yeah think I'm bumping up to the $50 Switch online expansion.
  8. Yeah, it's worth keeping in mind that a lot of major games publications have scoring systems that are designed so the worst you could do with a triple-A game that is functionally made but completely unimaginative is like a 6.5/10, and that's before putting fandom goggles on. Also going to go out on a limb and say that the whole Rowling of it all means that a lot of the more savvy reviewers/publications won't be touching it with a ten-foot pole regardless.
  9. Nah, the only reason there was a thread is because spoiler tags were broken at the time, no reason to not have a megathread again now.
  10. I think it would have been neat if there were little easter eggs in prior phases hinting at the inevitability of Atlantis/Talokan, though I can't remember if Namor was always in play for the MCU or if he was part the overall Fantastic Four package. Not to repeat myself too much from the Black Panther thread (which is unnecessary now!) but I do think all the JLD stuff makes sense in the sense that one of the real throughlines in the MCU stuff this phase is the US government shaping up to be a big problem. Feel like by and large much of the US-based or partially-set Marvel stuff in the last couple years has had either Val present or a government agency serving as antagonists (S.W.O.R.D. in the back end of Wandavision, Damage Control basically turning into ICE in Ms. Marvel, the CIA in Falcon and the Winter Soldier). But I do hope that all of that stuff becomes relevant in a way that impacts the Black Panther corner of the MCU rather than just being more table-setting for Thunderbolts and maybe the next Cap movie.
  11. Other than Romero taking that stupid early yellow to put us in danger later on, phenomenal performance from Spurs. Emerson Royal was absolutely massive.
  12. Glad I was awake to see Kane break the record.
  13. I was supposed to see it for the first time at the Alamo Drafthouse in LA last month and when I got there the building was closed due to a plumbing issue and it was the low point of the whole weekend. Feel very deadset on seeing that one in a theater setting.
  14. Matt Doherty's contract with Tottenham has been terminated so he can join Atletico Madrid on a free transfer, because Spurs are already at the max number of players on international loan. One last chance for Tanguy Ndombele's existence to bum me out.
  15. Yeah, I'm bummed out about this one. First season already felt like it ended abruptly, too. Was an incredibly strong cast, maybe so strong that not getting "big hit" numbers did it in.
  16. Allegedly Pedro Porro to Spurs is once again back on and he's flying in for his medical so I'm looking forward to waking up tomorrow and finding out that that is not in fact what happened.
  17. In the grand pantheon of "most Tottenham Hotspur thing to ever happen," being depicted losing to a lower-division team in the FA Cup in a popular fictional series about soccer only to, a couple years later, lose to a real team from an even lower division on a popular docuseries would have to be way up there.
  18. That's Peter Lorre. He's one of those guys you'd probably never seen an actual movie of until now (give or take Casablanca, maybe?) but you've seen him in pop culture a ton without realizing it. Cartoons from like the '30s to the '90s loved working in either a depiction of him or someone doing an impression of his voice. Ren from Ren and Stimpy, for example, is basically Billy West doing a slightly modified Lorre impression. EDIT: Another great "here's a guy you've seen without ever seeing" guy in that movie is Sydney Greenstreet, who plays Kaspar Gutman. He's basically the visual reference/inspiration for the Kingpin.
  19. They should be able to cast voice actors who can do those voices if they want to. From what I've seen Rick and Morty fans say Roiland has had very little to do with the writing lately so it might not actually change that much.
  20. It should be Paget Brewster and Keith David again. Let Harmon create a pattern here.
  21. I think the last time I watched Network was with my dad what feels like a few years ago but given that time is an awful trickster was probably a decade ago. It's very good and you should check it out at some point but on a night where you're ready to watch a real bummer.
  22. Well that was sudden. Guess it frees up Bryan Gil to go out on loan?
  23. The next time Square Enix decides that the story/dialogue/aesthetic choices they've made are corny and/or bad and they need to readjust them would be the first time, to be fair.
  24. hahaha, wow, much of that was in that trailer they put out last year that the internet made fun of relentlessly, I did not realize that that was dialogue already recorded for the game.
  25. I watched 12 Angry Men in high school and absolutely loved it. It's definitely a lot like watching a play. I haven't watched it start to finish since then but I tend to go back each year and rewatch the scene where Love Sidney Lumet. 12 Angry Men, Network, and Dog Day Afternoon is as good a lineup of three films as nearly any director could boast.
