  1. ASJ may be a good pickup because of the catch rules being changed. He had a few actual catches overturned because of nitpicking, so he may well be a solid TE1 next season.
  2. Nick Markakis hit the first walk-off home run of his career yesterday to finish a five-run comeback for Atlanta. Braves win 8-5 after being down 5-0 as late as the 6th. I reallllly want the Braves to be that plucky young team that does just enough to get hopes up. That'd be considered a good season for me.
  3. From what I've read, respawn timers are rough but they don't outright die. And just to go ahead and throw it out there: Boomer never dies. It's like a damn Marc Maron podcast with that animal.
  4. 15-yard penalties for initiating with your helmet. Possible ejections, too.
  5. Just how close to Meat Boy is that one on the frustration scale? I am quite intrigued, but I really don't need a game beating me over the head with difficulty right now.
  6. ...how do you feel about turkeys?
  7. +1 to this. Breath of the Wild is a spectacular game, but it just never got to me. The sense of joy and wonderment people describe from this game is exactly what I'm getting from Stardew Valley, so hopefully I can hop back into Hyrule at some point and really get into it. Completed the first 'dungeon' in Blossom Tales a couple of nights back. The game can get a little too close to Diablo territory with the number of enemies it will throw at you simultaneously, but it's still nothing completely overwhelming. Throwing bombs is a bit of a pain, as the game seems to be inconsistent in what constitutes a long enough button press to throw a bomb versus just setting it down. These are minor gripes, though. Especially for $15 - let alone if/when it goes back on sale - this is a perfect replication of Link to the Past. Anyone spend some time with the Switch version of Night In The Woods? Been hearing many a good thing about it.
  8. If they can manage everyone's health (looking at you, Process), this team could be just as good as the Rockets in terms of depth in just a year or two. They remind me of the '01-'02 Kings; that plucky team that I fall in love with only to see them bounced by the obvious favorites.
  9. I'd say Blossom Tales is well worth the $15. It is a blatant ripoff of Link to the Past, but that is not a bad thing in the slightest. Cute, some chuckle-worthy inside jokes ("She's a knight! With a shovel!") and mechanics that feel akin to a comfortable shoe you just slip on.
  10. It did evoke a similar feeling as FTL prior, but the worst parts of that. I never felt like I ever accomplished anything, even as I was doing so, just because I expected the game to completely hose me the next time out.
  11. Bought Vermintide 2, played a couple of rounds and refunded that. Stage layout can be downright annoying and I've never been a fan of the Director AI's love of kicking you when you're confused. I.E., you get lost or turned around and immediately hear a horde horn every time you stop. Nab it if you have friends or really like L4D mixed with "look pretty" Diablo/Monster Hunter style loot mechanics.
  12. I could see that happening with Boss Monster, as the expansion only adds a couple of tweaks to heroes initially ('starred' heroes have to be included regardless of player size and allow players to sacrifice certain types of rooms to give them extra power), so the rule variations may be where this game earns its long-term legs for now.
  13. Quick shout out to Boss Monster. Incorporates some elements on Munchkin without necessarily allowing players to keep the game carrying on forever. Pretty simple setup and process, but I'm intrigued to try some of the variants that are introduced in the expansion. Plus, dat box art doe. Finally made the call and ordered my own copy of Secret Hitler. I'm ready for about six thousand more rounds of that one.
  14. Agreed on Odyssey. There's something about that game that is similar to Breath of the Wild, but while Breath hasn't hooked me yet, Odyssey was just one I could not put down. Hoping for more Undertale info in the Nindies event. Even if it's the same as the PC version, that is a hell of an experience.
  15. Oh, I know what it is. I just don't want to spoil for you what happens. I want you to feel the same burning hatred I did.
  16. Willians Austudillo just made a base runner look like a damned fool.
  17. @The Chiksrara Special, I hope you like stupidly fast receivers. Gabriel's the kind of guy that will catch the vast majority of his passes off of screens or 40+ yards from the line.
  18. Mayfield really strikes me similarly to Manziel and Leaf. Dude seems one rough stretch away from completely falling apart mentally.
  19. That contract still makes me feel some kinda way, because hopefully it does lead to more fully guaranteed deals. At least Kirk's injury history isn't as lengthy as someone like Bradford's. Though I do think about what the Eagles pulled off with Wentz/Foles and what it could do to the league's thinking. Probably nothing, but maybe teams will want to have that luxury, though it could only be done when one QB has a rookie-type deal because of the amount QBs usually count against the cap. Cousins counting for $26 million is the classic trope of NFL teams having to put all of their eggs in one position, whereas the Eagles just turned that notion on its ear.
  20. If the Vikings don't nab Bridgewater, I will be very interested in their QB situation next year.
  21. This makes me really intrigued in what happens with Matt Ryan's contract extension. If this is going to be the new standard for QB contracts, then a.) I hope everyone in the NFL can start nabbing fully guaranteed deals and b.) every QB who has a single decent season (let alone any MVP awards) is going to account for a quite a bit against the cap.
  22. Played a few rounds of Into the Breach and I think that roguelike/strategy mashup has passed me by. I was super-jazzed about it initially, but quickly felt less like I was playing chess and more like I was playing checkers with a kid that wanted to change the rules constantly.
  23. I am an older and jaded human, but damned if that Smash trailer didn't get me ready to play some Smash.
