I've been playing some old games with my mates recently (Rampage World Tour, Smash TV, Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc) and it occured to me that these old skool games are just so much more fun than most of the stuff that is released nowadays. At first I thought it was just my nostalgia blurring everything, but I really don't think it is.
The last game I played on a current platform that has amused me in the same way is probably either Super Monkey Ball 2, Mario Kart or Warioware. It's not to say that I don't like the new games, but they just seem to lack something. It's great fun playing PES4, Tekken or anything else like that, but there just seems to be less enjoyment. I am pretty sure that it isn't because I am 21 now and I am outgrowing them because I still play often.
This is just a bit of a ramble, but does anyone else feel the same?
PS, Oh I know Old Skool means pre-NES, but I am not THAT old skool. Old Skool for me is NES, SNES, Master System, MegaDrive etc
