  1. I'm hoping to get some picks for 24 in any trade down scenario, obviously picks for this draft as well. Yeah my preference is defense as well, and would probably be defensive line but Witherspoon has been mocked to us a lot. Could be nothing though, but that dudes film is pretty fucking nice. I'd be cool with him as the pick, let him work with Kerby Joseph again.
  2. Yep I've seen that as well. I watched highlights of him and yeah, he's got good WRs but dude was throwing nice passes. Threading the needle, dropping the ball right in the WRs bread basket on deep throws, and like you said he can avoid pressure better than Goff due to his athleticism.
  3. Yay, Lions Super Bowl day! Anyway, this seems like a weird draft man. Sitting at 6 seems like Iike the Lions could just be outside of one of the elite dlineman unless Carter falls. I don't think he will though. Dream is that Will Anderson falls but I don't see him getting past Seattle, Arizona, and even Houston. I could see Houston going that route potentially unless Bryce Young was there at 2. I'm actually very intrigued by CJ Stroud. I get that he scored low on the S2 (whatever that is) and that Ohio State QBs typically kind of suck in the NFL but I like his skillset. He's got good size, seems to be a good athlete, highly productive in college, won a lot of games, and well their Lions should be adding a young arm. Plus, Stroud isn't under any pressure to start here, he could literally learn under Goff for two years. That said, I feel like he's going before 6 and a lot of this stuff coming out this week is probably nonsense. I guess my thing is, if the stud dlineman are gone at 6 I'd rather take a swing at a QB then settle for a CB or Olineman. At 18 there's a lot of players I'd like here. Bijan Robinson, Calijah Kancey, the OT from Tennessee, the CB from Maryland,Joey Porter Jr are probably top of my wishlist. Oh or Trenton Simpson but his projection seems to have him going possibly round 2. Simpson seems like a Holmes/Campbell guy. High character, very athletic, good motor.
  4. I was going to say Chumbawamba also. They were really good up to Tubthumping, and after actually. I've honestly not really even checked that entire album out and now feel like I should just to see. I really liked their early output that was more along the anarcho punk lines, but think an album like Anarchy would be a good starting point for people as it still maintains their spirit but is probably more accessible musically. It's a brilliant album. I'd also note that I think the vocalists are brilliant and are really the selling point for me in a lot of their work.
  5. Yea, they ended up cutting Moore and Cephus. Cephus was probably on the bubble anyway. Moore is a very good special teamer. Williams though, everybody has high hopes for. But this is obviously a terrible way to start year 2 after being injured his 1st season. Probably should draft another WR now in case dude is going to be a knuckle head. Actually....reading more they said Jameson didn't bet on NFL games. He placed a mobile bet while at the Lions practice facility. So I feel better in a way, it sounds like a silly fucking rule.
  6. So Jameson Williams is suspended 6 games for gambling. Dude barely played last year because of injury. Not good, looks like WR can be added to our list of needs.
  7. The Matt Patricia hiring is funny because Darius Slay really doesn't like him and I think was ready to leave Philly when they mentioned the initial Patricia rumor. Anyway, Philly brings Slay back after all with him probably thinking he dodged Patricia. lol.
  8. So I have tickets for Cherubs. And GBH/MDC. And now Circle Jerks with the Descendents. Mr. Bungle is coming in September which seemed like a cool idea but tickets are over 100 and they're basically just a thrash metal band. Easy pass. Edit - just kidding I am going to Bungle. Whatever I searched for first didn't give me the lower priced stuff.
  9. Exactly. It was perfectly fun fan service with some cool Easter eggs. It didn't need some complex story, especially since I assume this is the first of a few now.
  10. Took the family to see the Mario movie today. It was fun, my oldest son is a huge Mario fan and loved it so mission accomplished.
  11. The The would go in the T section. I guess. Good thing I don't have any The The.
  12. Ok so it's been two months, hi everybody. Sorry, consider this topic to be a long long on going updated whenever sort of thread. Though I do want to remain active, probably right now is a good time before I start school next week. So I've debated on if I want to review certain bands/albums all in one post or do their albums separately. Right now I'm going to go for the separate option though it could vary depending on the artist and their catalogue (like you can bet when I get to Motorhead we're going individually, Led Zeppelin on the other hand...). Today we discuss The Adicts - Songs of Praise The Adicts are a lot of fun, they sorta fall between that first wave of punk in the UK but right before the Oi and D-Beat type stuff became more prominent. The sound is pretty straight forward punk rock but it's pretty fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. The band adopted the Clockwork Orange droog look but the lead singer also paints his face like a court jester of sorts. A lot of punk bands have been known to adopt aspects of a Clockwork Orange and implement the thuggish aspects of the characters, where as this isn't the case here. Songs of Praise is the bands first effort released in 1981. I really like this album and this band a lot, they're stuff follows the anthemic aspects of punk and is extremely update and danceable. This is definitely pogoing punk and removes itself from the violent aspects of crowd interaction. The album opens up with a peppie number in "England" where Monkey (the singer) tells us he doesn't want to die for England. Neither do I bud. It's a great opener though, like I said, upbeat. I really appreciate the simplicity of the rhythm but just how damn catchy this is. For some reason this album is not on Spotify which is lame. Anyway, the second song is actually a bit different in some ways as it's got this sorta slowed down moody sound going on. It's called Hurt, it's a bit more subdued and less peppy but man it draws you in. There's parts of the song where the guitar stops and you have just the drums and bass working together, it really sounds great together. It's not even like they're doing anything complex here, just putting together a beautiful rhythm. As a musician (a shitty musician), it speaks to me with how it's can be so simple but effective (to my ears anyway). Ok I probably don't have the steam to write about every single song. I think this album would actually be a great introduction to punk for somebody uninitiated with punk. Why? Because I think it's accessible to the non-punk fan, it's an upbeat bit of rock and roll, it's not too heavy, it's melodic, the lyrics aren't gross, but it's still definitely balls to the wall punk rock. I hear the live shows are a lot of fun, unfortunately I've not seen them live. I do hear that they are pretty raucous affairs with confetti and playing cards tossed from the stage. Another great track is Viva La Revolution. Actually, not just great but probably the groups best known song. This is probably them at their best when it comes to fun, upbeat, sing along, etc. etc. I mean you can definitely see where a crowd of people could get going with this one during a show. Top Three England, Tango, Hurt Next time is The Adicts second album. The Sound of Music.
  13. Andy Reid is a God damn national treasure.
  14. I think it's been bad luck. He was part of our trying to replace Calvin Johnson and we had some pretty lean years following that (which we usually have lean years). Then his other teams were the Bengals before Burrow and the Jags. All cat teams. I'm really glad to have him back. He was rock solid for us, is a great teammate, and just a good guy. He's a nice veteran to have on the offense. He won't put up huge numbers but should be a reliable pass catcher for Goff.
  15. @Justin Buschlander Lions and Giants are having joint practices this year.
  16. Can take the Lions off the list for Jackson. Campbell basically said Goff is our guy and we're rolling with him. Which is the right move. Jackson has such a tantalizing skillset and it'd be fun to see him in Detroit. But, Goff's contract isn't too crazy at this point in time. Plus, I think he's going to continue to play well and got kind of a bum rap coming out of LA. Just wish the fucker was mobile but can't have it all I guess.
  17. This would be ideal, we don't have 4th or 5th rounders, so wouldn't mind the opportunity to add more there. Or better yet, get extras for next year.
  18. And the nice thing is that none of those players were given ridiculous contracts. 3 of those 5 are on 1 year deals. Sutton and Montgomery are on palatable 3 year deals with easy outs in year 3. Very curious what we do in the draft now. Seems that CB isn't a huge need now. I'd guess we will take dline early at 6, but also we're in a good position to maybe take one of the QBs. Unfortunately I'm not real geeked on this years group.
  19. I dig George Thorogood. I mean, his music isn't real deep since it's just basically blues guitar and singing about booze. But he has a really cool voice and good guitar tone. One of his best is a cover of the old blues/folk tune John Hardy.
  20. Well fuck, all the interesting back up QBs are about to be gone.
  21. That makes the Saints an interesting Hard Knocks choice now.
  22. Lions have signed their running back. David Montgomery, 3 years 18 mil. Did not see that coming. Very curious what the situation is with Williams. I saw a tweet we were far apart on a deal, so I'm curious of the financials.
  23. Well shit, there goes a potential backup to Goff. I'm hoping we sign a free agent backup. In fact, my choice is to go with Gardner Minshew, but I don't know if the plan is to sign a QB. We only have one on the roster so we obviously need to....just kinda hoping we get somebody competent and draft a dude in the mid rounds.
  24. Nice signing. Looks like the type of guy we needed, now we should draft a CB early in the draft. The bummed Steelers fans tell me we did alright.
  25. Wouldn't mind having him I'm Detroit if Chark signs elsewhere.
