Really? Cause the Jack Charlton era Republic of Ireland teams were filled with players who could've played for England or Scotland but were coaxed into playing for Ireland. And not bad ones either - John Aldridge (England), Tony Cascarino (Scotland, England or Italy and as it turned out not Ireland at all ), Ray Houghton (Scotland) and Chris Hughton (England) for example. Of course now its a bit different seeing as we generally only take players who have no hope of ever getting into an England beyond maybe youth level. I'd say England will eventually be in a place where the young foreign academy players that Premier League clubs are bringing in now could be scouted as potential English internationals. It's worked elsewhere (and probably Hargreaves would've worked out a bit better if he hadn't been so injury prone in the last couple of years) but of course that does bring in nightmare visions of tabloid headlines. Especially The Daily Mail

We're getting down to the wire and a 2-2 draw with Derry allowed us to let Sligo gain 1st place and a single point advantage. We have a somewhat easier run in on paper. Bray and Cobh are relegation fighters and Bohemians are underperforming but are re-surging under a new manager. Sligo have to play the third team in the title race - Cork City. If they lost that one it would shift gears again and bring Cork into the hunt. I really only care about winning the league now, despite still being in the Setanta Cup. Edit: Did it

Got Parkvilla up to 2nd in the league, a point behind Sligo Rovers. Sold the whiny Alan Quinn back to Ipswich for €650,000 (50K less than what we paid for him from them but meh) and I also sold Willie McLaren to Notts County and that pretty much makes up for the loss of the 50K. Also I bought Rafeal Creataro from Sligo who is the leagues top scorer in dastardly tactical manoeuvrings. We're about 17 games in so far, a lot left to play for but there is a chance we might achieve the goal of winning both divisions in 2 years. I have never done that on FM.

Also Joseph Ndo is playing, I will always have a soft spot for him.

Tonight, Manchester United take on .... AN AIRTRICTY LEAGUE XI at the brand new Aviva Stadium (formerly Landsdowne Road) in Dublin! I suspect Man. Utd will get a royal caning!
