It's not depth, it's decline. If Aquilani, Kuyt, Mascherano, Benayoun, Insua etc. were still in/going to remain in the squad. Then the players signed would add depth. However these players are going out of the club and the players coming in are nowhere near the same calibre.

To be honest, I still think this is going to be Liverpool's worst season in the Premier League. All the signs are there and re-building means nothing when the owners want away and the manager is probably going to be gone within a season or two.
