  1. 28 Weeks Later has the perfect ending for a film that is leading into another. When you see the infected go sprinting into Paris you want to see the next installment (28 Months Later?) instantly. Clerks 2 had a pretty nice ending in terms of wrapping everything up and completing the full circle in the journey of Dante and Randal.
  2. I notice her everytime too. Boyzone needed a couple of minders in the group, Hope have got theirs I suppose.
  3. I agree on that, I think when Simon put SD into his final 3 he was thinking more about progress and selling records as opposed to who he may have genuinely liked. As I recall he wasn't keen at all on SD in the opening stage or two. Everyone I speak to seems convinced Hope are groomed to be the next big girl band. While they can be marketed to the hilt and put in the public eye, the public just don't seem to like them all that much. I think that younger one in the group (aka the singer) would do better alone.
  4. And Butcher is gone at long last. Take one manager with a proven track record to fail, put him in a job where his resources are even more limited and the job further beyond his grip, and watch the team fall. Martin Allen returning would certainly do the trick, he went to three home games but still I can't see it happening. Brentford also just got permission to move to a new 20,000 stadium. That'll look good in the Blue Square.
  5. I can't see anyone who voted for Nikki going over to Same Difference, it's just too far removed. So I'd assume they will go Rhydian as you've said. Leon's vote could go either way - some might stick with the cheesey crap and SD or the single male singer route to Rhydian. I'm by no means a Rhydian fan, but would take absolutely anyone over Same Difference. Nothing more than H from Steps and a rather bland, nothing-special female singer who never would have made it in the girls category.
  6. Outside of Capello has anybody actually expressed any interest in being England manager? Looks like the job is his by default if nothing else.
  7. Has Shaun Wright-Phillips ever had a ball under control? Even when he's dribbing with nobody around him he still ends up stumbling or running ahead of the ball and needing to go back for it. For a winger it's alarming, he wouldn't get anywhere near me England squad, I think Sven had the right idea at the World Cup to be honest (although his point was somewhat lost when he picked Walcott). After much Hleb defending to fellow Arsenal fans it's great to see him finally come good. I think he proved yesterday that he's every bit as vital to the team as Fabregas is.
  8. Brentford were on a slippery slope last year when relegation was from League One was possible but certainly avoidable. The club is now nearly at the bottom of said slope. Blue Square here we come! I think the theory is they'll keep dropping divisions until they can win a game, then Terry Butcher can finally claim to know what he's doing. For a supposed defensive expert, he sure doesn't know how to organise a back four. Glad we could help Luton. Incidentally Luton are probably the 10th team to beat us at home this year.
  9. Apparently Gary McAllister is now a front runner for the job. Perhaps that would be best, last time Scotland "aimed high" for a big coach with some kind of track record all they got was Berti Vogts.
  10. Moyes is a good call, though I think it's almost certain he wouldn't leave Everton at this point. I think the situation is made worse by there not appearing to be a ready made available replacement as McLeish was for Smith. Moyes has got the mix of passion and generally knowing what he's doing, I could see him taking the role further down the line.
  11. Doesn't it undermine the Scotland job somewhat when their managers are walking out to take other jobs, particular with Birmingham? Walter Smith's was perhaps understandable (even if it came at an awkward time), this one just looks bad. Even as an Englishman I'd like to see Scotland keep progressing as they are, but to do that they need to get someone in now who is committed to the job and will stay over the next couple of tournaments.
  12. I'm pretty sure it happened on grass too, I think in a World Cup.
  13. Did anyone see his interview on Inside Sport last night? He tends to always come across very well. A genius he's not, but you can tell he still has a passion for what he's doing - in particular when it comes to England, which has certainly been lacking in the squad from what I can tell. In terms of his overall game he was never the best all rounder. But people who say he could "just take a free-kick" underestimate him and those who say he could just "cross a ball" underestimate just what a gift that is. There are players who spent their whole careers working down the wings just to try and get a chance to put the ball in. Beckham could, and still can, cross past and around people and find his man from anywhere on the pitch. A lot of people who I spoke to post-Croatia claimed he had "only come on and gave the ball the Crouch to score". Which to me is exactly why he will be remembered and why he's still got a future. Even he only plays one ball, he can play it right and make the difference. This has been true of Beckham his whole career. Maybe not legendary, time will tell. Certainly a great.
  14. Living in Brentford, I used to be able to direct people to my house based on it's position in relation to Griffin Park. Now the club's an utter joke looks like I'll be reverting back to the only other landmark this fine town boasts: McDonalds. Terry Butcher's fondness for popping up in every single publication on the planet as "an England expert" is even more of a joke than it was before. I remain positive however.
  15. Was it Iran who played USA when the captain embarked on some sort of overblown goodwill mission and showered the USA captain with gifts before kick-off?
  16. I was under the impression that when Jewell comes back it will be with a bigger club and not a Wigan or a Derby. Looks like Newcastle might finally get him before too long.

    Rocky

Childhood nostalgia plays a big part, but my favourite has always been 4. More Drago.

    Mighty Boosh

I believe they reference it somewhere on the DVD extras of the first series. Isn't Bollo eventually taken to monkey hell at the end of that episode when Howard and Vince return? His 'death' doesn't prevent him returning shortly after.
  19. I will give a nod to my namesake. Since I first saw and bought the album, I've always found it difficult to put my finger on what it is I like about it. But it's always been quite striking and held my gaze for some time.
  20. I don't think there was a great deal that was ever going to make Andy interesting. And Same Difference, I've no idea what the guy's name is but really, do we need another H from Steps already?

Snap on The Verve, I prefer the track of theirs you got to mine, just about. 7/10 The Good Old Days – The Libertines Girls Like Mystery - The Cribs Sleeping In – The Postal Service Kung Fu – Ash St. Petersburg – Supergrass Stockholm Syndrome – Muse Talk Tonight - Oasis Freakin' Out - Graham Coxon You Don’t Know What Love Is… - The White Stripes Lucky Man – The Verve
  22. While I was slightly too young for the UK Britpop scene, my brother was at the 17/18 mark when it took full effect with Oasis and was into them in a huge way. That rubbed off on me a little at the time, and when he moved out I took his Oasis cds and found a huge love for pretty much everything about them. Britpop was still trudging along ok at that point, which made it easy for me to find a path to the surrounding or not-too-distant bands; Blur, Suede, Pulp, Supergrass, The Verve etc. From then, with my Oasis affinity still intact, I would start to take a greater interest in the bands that had influenced them - getting quite into The Beatles, T-Rex (My Mum was a huge Bolan fan and has many T-Rex vinyls, so she nurtured my interest in them), Stones, Stone Roses, The Las. Until eventually a newer wave of music came along. The Libertines were, I suppose, the first time I actually sort out a band myself. In as much as nobody told me about them, I heard them, liked them, got into them. And it continued along that path to this very day.
  23. An acquaintence of a semi-acquaintence has pulled of going to see Maximo Park on Friday so I have picked up the tickets. Normal I wouldn't really want to see them but the combination of a free evening and the novelty of cheap tickets won me over.
  24. As someone who harbours quite a nice little underlying hatred for Sting, it is ridiculous to label him the worst lyricist of all time. A bitter school teacher does not a valid 'rock'-critic make. But for what it was, a nobody attempting to grab a headline: thoroughly good show.
