As a die hard Nintendo fanboy, I will admit to never having owned any Sega system, EVER.

However, as a die hard Nintendo fanboy, I will admit to right now be watching my wife play the Sonic Mega Collection on my Gamecube, only because she stole the controller form me when I got up for a minute. Sega really had some great games come out around the time period of the Mega Drive.

Man, this thread is bringing back so many memories.

The first console I ever had was a Master System, with Sonic the Hedgehog built in, and...some other games. I remember playing some really crappy football game on (I think) the Master System, but it might've been the Mega Drive. I think it was for Euro '92 though, so I guess it was the Master System. That sucked hard, and I found it impossible to score.

On the Mega Drive, I remember a bunch of these games. Pete Samprass Tennis was all kinds of ace, Brian Lara Cricket was cool too. Plus, I got my first FIFA ('94) then and it seemed amazing. Comix Zone was cool (I got it on the PC later) but the scorpions scared me :(. Other random games I remember: The three-pack with Italia '90, Super Hang-on and Columns and the one with Shinobi, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage (STREETS OF RAGE!), Animaniacs (never completed it though), Aladdin, EA Hockey and WWF Wrestlemania.

Then I got a Sega Saturn :(...

Genesis/Megadrive didn't have games built it :P

Anyways:

1996 owned for EA Sports. I have NBA Live, Madden and NHL. Ownage....

As for the three packs, mind if I laugh at you fools? For I got a 6-Pack. It features...

*clears throat*

Shinobi

Sonic 1

Columns

Super Hang On

Streets of Rage II

Golden Axe

I could kick any of your asses in them games... Well except maybe Columns and Super Hang On only because I am still depressed that my dad kicked my ass. I remember playing SoR with friends and attacking them just to piss them off.

I was a big sports buff with the Sega. One of my favorite games: World Series Baseball 95.

Also another good game is called Headdy [spelling might be off] and Altered Beast is fuckin awesome. WWF Wrestlemania sounds like a gay porno. Royal Rumble > Wrestlemania.

Monopoly ruled for the Sega also. Took less time to set up the board :P

EDIT: My Genesis is sitting right next to my N64, above my Atari 5600, below my NES in my living room. :D

Two good sports games:

Mutant League Hockey

Mutant League Football.

They're both pretty fun to play with a friend.

The game that was built in with the Master System varied. There was Alex Kidd, Sonic 1, and (according my my, uh *cough*emulator*cough*) also Hang On (presumably the original version of Super Hang).

Of course, I had a Master System Converter for my Mega Drive, so I didn't get any of these myself. I owned Sonic 1 naturally, and Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos... :shifty:

What'd people think of the comparison between the alternative MD/MS versions of the Sonic games? They made them completely different for some reason...

The Master System Sonic 2 was a classic. The only problem of course being that the Mega Drive one was ALSO a classic.

And i hated both under-water labyrinth scenarios  :angry:

Labyrinth Zone is teh roxorz.

But with that said, notice the trend:

Favourite Level (Mega Drive)

* Sonic 1 = Scrap Brain Zone

* Sonic 2 = Chemical Plant Zone

* Sonic 3 = Launch Base Zone

* S&K = Flying Battery Zone

* Sonic 3D = Panic Puppet Zone

I love my metallic levels. -_-

I just realised by reading your post that i don't remember most level names  :blush:

I do remember which is the Chemical Plant Zone though, and while not remembering which it is the Scrap Brain Zone, the name sounds familiar to me.

The reason i didn't like the labyrinth zone was because you needed to keep in mind the time you had left before you had to breath, all the time. I believe what really bugged me in that situation was the hyper-super-mega annoying sound of the countdown. I hated that so much.

In sonic 1 there was a level i liked cause it allowed me to rest and eat something while increasing my score. The one that had a pinball game there.

When playing sonic 2, i liked the one which was a jungle or something. I particularly liked that level when playing the 1vs1 race mode for some reason. I didn't play it much that way, though.

Scrap Brain Zone is the final level of Sonic 1 (besides the final boss...in the aptly named 'Final Zone'). It has little flamthrowers, spinning buzzsaws, and a whole load of Caterkillers, if that helps.

You see, if you were any good at the game you'd never reach the hyper-super-mega annoying sound of the drowning countdown. :shifty:

While Sonic 1 didn't have a true pinball level (like Sonic 2's 'Casino Night Zone'), the closest one that you're probably thinking of is Spring Yard Zone. It was the 3rd level, and had those purple badniks with spikes on their top (whose name I forget) - plus those blue and red armadillo-esque badniks called Rollers. The bastards would always roll right into you from behind when you didn't expect them. Fuckers.

Well there are only four 2-player levels for Sonic 2...(well, 3 plus Special Stage), so as I doubt that you're talking about Emerald Hill Zone, I presume you mean Mystic Cave Zone. It does indeed rule, and is a close second for my favourite Sonic 2 level.

Ah, I am reminded of the cool music...*puts on old Sonic midis*.
