done rvd. :P

I understand you tried to cover a lot of styles picking about 3 of each, but still you missed a lot of stuff, maybe because you didn't know much about those? or just because it was allready too big?

I could have put more, but the list is pretty big as it is, so I left it.

Honestly, some people need to check out the stuff that they haven't heard on my list. Granted, I don't like all of it myself, but still, stuff like Jeff Buckley is a must listen. Anyone who likes heavier stuff, check out In Flames and Opeth, whilst for a bit of throwback 80's music, check out Depeche Mode and New Order.

AC/DC - Great band. Love "Thunderstruck" the most.

Slayer - Decent; haven't really listented to a lot of them to say that they're good or bad.

Metallica - Great up until after the Black Album, then they fell off. Nothing much of their recent stuff I have liked.

Megadeth - Decent; see Slayer

Pantera - Great band and defined the metal that followed them.

Iron Maiden - Decent; see Slayer

Def Leppard - Something I never really could get into.

Led Zeppelin - Simply put: Awesome

The Beatles - They're okay. I don't really listen to a lot of the old, old classic rock for me to give a fair opinion.

The Who - Awesome

Elvis Presley - Pretty good, his Christmas stuff is surprisingly good. Not many can pull off good Christmas stuff

Papa Roach - Used to be good when they first came out. Now just another overhyped, stale rock band.

Limp Bizkit - They used to be good and might get back to that judging by their newest song, but still nothing that I would call good. Average at best

Linkin Park - Besides the fact that they get overplayed way too god damn much, they're good.

Korn - A band I feel gets a raw deal from a lot of people. They did define Nu-Metal for many bands to follow.

Deftones - Great band and I too, don't feel they get enough recognition.

Meat Loaf - See Def Leppard

Arch Enemy - They're pretty good, but nothing I would cream myself over.

In Flames - Unlike Arch Enemy, a band I cream myself over. Simply awesome band

Soilwork - Haven't really heard much of them.

Opeth - See Soilwork, but from what I have, they're pretty good.

Distillers - See Def Leppard

Meshuggah - Awesome band.

Dillinger Escape Plan - See Soilwork, though I want to.

Fear Factory - Awesome band who not enough people know of.

Tool - AMAZING

A Perfect Circle - See Tool

Massive Attack - Never heard anything from them

Chemichal Brothers - See Def Leppard

Van Halen - Good, not great, not bad either.

REM - See Def Leppard

Nirvana - People shit on the band way too much because of Cobain and their lack of talent, but I like 'em.

RHCP - Decent; haven't really listented to their stuff extensively

Soundgarden - See Arch Enemy

Alice In Chains - Good, influenced one of my favorite bands in Godsmack

Manowar - See Dillinger Escape Plan

Pearl Jam - See Def Leppard

Smashing Pumpkins - Awesome band that I never really liked up until recently.

Mastodon - See Dillinger Esc. Plan

Audioslave - See Van Halen

Guns And Roses - Besides a couple of songs that I like, can't say I'm too fond of them.

Velvet Revolver - Overrated because they're a "Super Band"

Muse - Haven't really heard anything to judge them by.

Ash - Actually never heard of them.

The Killers - See Muse

Machine Head - Great band

Marilyn Manson - Gets a bad name because of his antics, but he's good.

Emperor - See Muse

Sepultura - See Slayer

Faith No More - See Slayer

U2 - Never really took a liking to them, and don't plan on it soon either. Not my type of thing.

Libertines - See Muse

System Of A Down - Awesome band that I love and hope their new cd rocks.

Joy Division - See Muse

The Smiths - See Muse

The Streets - See Muse

Morrissey - Decent

Foo Fighters - Grohl's a better vocalist than drummer, but a good band.

Mars Volta - See D.E.P.

Snoop Dogg - Decent, nothing I would say is great about him, though he's funny as hell.

Eminem - One of my fav. rappers

Ja Rule - Nothing that great has come out from him for me to even remotely like him.

Jay-Z - Overrated, but still pretty decent

Tupac - Great and paved the way for a lot of rappers today.

Eric Clapton - See Van Halen

Norah Jones - Nothing I'm too into.

Bob Dylan - See Van Halen

Nine Inch Nails - See RHCP

David Gray - See Muse

Jeff Buckley - See Muse

Tom Waits - See Muse

Depche Mode - See Def Leppard

Nightwish - See D.E.P.

Lacuna Coil - Great band

New Order - See Muse

My Dying Bride - See D.E.P.

Coldplay - Find them overrated as hell, but nothing really jumps out at me from them.

Keane - Heard a couple songs and didn't impress me much.

Stone Temple Pilots - Overrated, but still decent

Bush - Good band, but haven't heard a whole lot by them

HIM - Good from what I've heard, would like to hear more though.

Slipknot - Great band, who I'm going to see live in late April with Lamb of God.

The Clash - See Muse

The Sex Pistols - See Muse

Green Day - Good band that have their moments with me, but other than that, not really.

NOFX - See Def Leppard

Rancid - See Def Leppard

Beastie Boys - Hate them, annoying as hell

Notorious B.I.G - Pretty good from what I've hard

RATM - Great band

36 Crazyfists - Great band that I like a lot

Killswitch Engage - Awesome band that I love. Howard Jones is better than the old guy at vocals and is more defining as a vocalist.

That's my list and most of the British bands or bands that sound similar to them are the ones I dimiss mostly because that music doesn't interest me at all.

AC/DC: Awesome, made some absolutely classic songs

Slayer: Too much hype from fanboys

Metallica: As Slayer, with the difference being they used to be an amazing band

Megadeth: Not too keen

Pantera: Amazing, I have the live 101 Proof album and it makes me wish I could have seen them live

Iron Maiden: Over-fucking-rated, I despise Maiden, I respect the reputatuin but I personally can't stand them

Def Leppard: Not heard enough to pass real judgement

Led Zeppelin: See Def Leppard

The Beatles: The songs they gave to other people were better than their own, but amazing and legendary despite this fact

The Who: The What? The Awesome.

Elvis Presley: Tool, but set the standard for being an entertainer

Papa Roach: Consistent and above average, they have shining songs and some utter shite too

Limp Bizkit: See Papa Roach

Linkin Park: Good songs, shame all of them have the same damn feeling

Korn: At one point I hated them, but they grew on me

Deftones: Meh, simple eh?

Meat Loaf: Bat out of hell fucking rocks, I love the guy, but I can see why people wouldn't

Arch Enemy: Who?

In Flames: Again, who?

Soilwork: What's up with these bands I never heard of?

Opeth: Worth a listen.

Distillers: Anyone who dislikes the music and doesn't think Brody is hot, that person becomes a hate figure

Meshuggah: STOP IT! STOP IT! KUPEH! KUPEH!

Dillinger Escape Plan: Good for short bursts

Fear Factory: Too average for their reputation

Tool: Damn fine.

A Perfect Circle: Tool and Perfect Circle are sexeh and on the same level.

Massive Attack: Geh.

Chemichal Brothers: Not as good as they used to be.

Van Halen: Jump fucking owns your soul, but that's the only song I like.

REM: Tremendous, an amazing band who deserve utmost respect.

Nirvana: Too many fanboys, but they did change music, and aren't too bad either.

RHCP: I don't think I need to say how great they are, and each of their members could be top of his musical field.

Soundgarden: Cornell is better alone or in AudioSlave, but they had some good songs.

Alice In Chains: Okay if you like that sort of thing?

Manowar: Men Without Hats > Bands I never heard of

Pearl Jam: Better than Nirvana but not good enough to still be going

Smashing Pumpkins: "The World Is a Vampire" that intro sends chills down my spine for no real reason, Pumpkins are considered a great afterthought by too many rock fans

Mastodon: I like elephants if that helps.

Audioslave: If you don't like them, die ***Waits for the mandatory "You First" reply***

Guns And Roses: Some good songs, but they don't deserve the rep.

Velvet Revolver: S.H.I.T, and it has nothing to do with Rosey

Muse: Good, but over-rated

Ash: Getting worse as years go on

The Killers: 'Cause I'm Mr. Loves-The-Killers!

Machine Head: Fleh.

Marilyn Manson: Will be considered a legend before his time is out, has some amazingly anthemic tunes.

Emperor: ...?

Sepultura: Not heard enough of.

Faith No More: Mediocre at best bar one song

U2: Fucking blow, they have about 6 great songs and the rest suck nuts

Libertines: I love Pete, I wish he would quit fucking himself around, the 'tines are a million times better than BabyShambles will ever be

System Of A Down: Too many fanboys.

Joy Division: Heard of, not heard.

The Smiths: Eh?

The Streets: I hope he dies from VD.

Morrissey: Had one good song his entire career.

Foo Fighters: Awesome.

Mars Volta: Getting into them.

Snoop Dogg: I'll drop you like your hot, off a fucking cliff.

Eminem: Getting worse as time goes on.

Ja Rule: The worst excuse for a rapper since a dumb guy.

Jay-Z: One of few rappers who I never seems to tire of.

Tupac: He ain't coming back, but I wish he would so he could live up to the rep. he has, because quite frankly nobody can, his ability has become the stuff of mythology.

Eric Clapton: First song I ever learned to play was by him, and I'll always adore him.

Norah Jones: I swear her songs are all the same.

Bob Dylan: URGH!

Nine Inch Nails: Trent > Far too many people

David Gray: Dissapointed with some of his songs, he is a great writer though

Jeff Buckley: Growing on me

Tom Waits: Great.

Depche Mode: People need to stop doing horrid covers

Nightwish: Bleh.

Lacuna Coil: Christina has my heart with her voice and her beauty

New Order: Unconcerned.

My Dying Bride: Eh?

Coldplay: Dissapointed with "A Rush of Blood To The Head"

Keane: Over-rated, but showing great promise

Stone Temple Pilots: Okay.

Bush: ...?

HIM: Grew from being "That CKY band" to a great artist of their own

Slipknot: Okay, but not great

The Clash: No band deserves the title of "Legend" as much as The Clash for me.

The Sex Pistols: Above average, but I never cared too much.

Green Day: Huge fan since I was 11 and I always will be.

NOFX: Meh.

Rancid: Got into them after Indestructable and my love has grown since

Beastie Boys: Some amazing songs, some terrible.

Notorious B.I.G: Despisability rating, high.

RATM: Take a wild guess.

36 Crazyfists: Not heard enough of.

Killswitch Engage: One good song, but not great at all.

The Sex Pistols - Hmmm..ok I guess

Green Day - Very good, "American Idiot" was really good

Beastie Boys - Very good, with some true classic songs

Notorious B.I.G - Ok, what I've heard

RATM - Good, but over-rated by some

36 Crazyfists - Very good band, but interested to see what they'll do with thier next album

Killswitch Engage - Thier newest album was a bit of a letdown, but they are a good band otherwise.

Slayer - Hell yes, one of the best metal bands ever to have laid their hands on instruments.

Metallica - Alright, not up to Slayer in my books but still really good. I have a special weak spot for Unforgiven II and Whiskey In A Jar.

Pantera - Dimebag, why oh why :( A band that should have enjoyed Metallica/Slayer levels of success and longevity.

Iron Maiden - Overrated. VASTLY overrated.

Led Zeppelin - Overrated as well in my books, good but not heavenly.

The Who - Pure genius. The Pinball Wizard!

Papa Roach - Infest has a couple of good songs on it, the newer stuff is... Nah.

Linkin Park - The DJ guy is good, otherwise just bland shit.

Korn - I'm biased, as seeing them live on my birthday = awesome.

Deftones - One of the more intelligent metal bands out there, don't get the recognition they'd deserve.

In Flames - Crap. "Melodic death metal" grinds my ears just by the name.

Soilwork - Heard like two songs, okay...

Opeth - One of the reasons why living close to Sweden rocks.

Meshuggah - Probably the best band out there at this point, I've never waited for any other albums like I am waiting for Catch-33

Dillinger Escape Plan - A stateside 'huggah (:shifty:) seriously speaking, I haven't given them too much attention.

Fear Factory - Industrial metal innovators. Until hearing their debut album "The Soul Of A New Machine", I've never known just how bad they kick ass.

Tool - Ranks there with bands of whom I have not heard too much of but probably should have.

Massive Attack - Some of their songs (especially the one with the baby video) are great. Others aren't.

Nirvana - I regularly listen to Come As You Are, Smells Like Teen Spirit and The Man Who Sold The World, that's pretty much it.

RHCP - Love 'em, mainly because of Frusciante.

Soundgarden - Not too big on them, but I have to admit that even though Chris Cornell still sounds annoying, he's begun to grow on me.

Manowar - Shit. shitshitshitshit.

Smashing Pumpkins - From egotripping to awesome music, Pumpkins is all that and everything in between.

Mastodon - Sadly, haven't gotten any material off of them. I'll probably pick up Leviathan soon though.

Audioslave - Not as good as RATM, but far from crappy nonetheless. Took me a while to get accustomed to Chris Cornell, though.

Guns And Roses - Axl Rose should die.

Muse - Not for me.

The Killers - Not for me either. This new wave of "emotional, expressive rock" as some dimwit put it kinda makes me sick.

Marilyn Manson - He has his songs, and his autobiography is just a disturbing read. Too repetitive at times though.

Sepultura - The best metal band ever to come out of Brazil.

Faith No More - Pure freaking genius.

U2 - The best band to come out of Ireland, evar.

System Of A Down - Probably the best alternative metal act out there right now.

The Streets - One of the three hip hop groups I can listen to with ease.

Foo Fighters - Dave Grohl is the man.

Snoop Dogg - Shit.

Eminem - Shit.

Ja Rule - Shit.

Jay-Z - Shit.

Tupac - Still, shit. Gangsta-rap is just something terrible.

Nine Inch Nails - Even though Trent Reznor can't be figured out by anyone, NIN is still good music.

Nightwish - FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINLAAAAAAAAND, arr. Our ticket to fame.

Stone Temple Pilots - Core is a great album and regularly on my playlist. Otherwise, kinda bland at times.

HIM - Oh yeah, our other claim to fame. Don't dig their music, though.

Slipknot - Overrated as well, good but not groundbreaking.

The Clash - London Falling is an awesome, awesome record.

The Sex Pistols - Can't sing, can't play, still rocked like hell.

Green Day - Detoriated during the years, but their Greatest Hits collection is one of my favourite CD's ever.

NOFX - There and there.

Rancid - Really really great. Relaxed and laid-back, still aggressive when needed. ...And Out Come The Wolves is a top-notch punk record.

Beastie Boys - The second of the three hip-hop groups I can listen to with ease.

RATM - The holders of the "Best Alternative Metal Act" scepter prior to disbanding and handing it over to SOAD.

36 Crazyfists - Okay, nothing groundbreaking but a good listen.

Killswitch Engage - What they do, they do good, altough Unearth and Cataract do it better.

AC/DC - Rawk.

Pantera - They're cool.

Iron Maiden - One of the best bands of all time

Def Leppard - Meh. I never really liked them, but I never really knew why...

Led Zeppelin - Bleh.

The Beatles - I know I'm supposed to like them because they were uber-popular and all that shit, but I never really liked them. Sorry fultie ({)

The Who - Haven't heard much of their stuff. Meh.

Elvis Presley - MEH.

Papa Roach - I liked the debut album, whatever it was called, but haven't heard anything else.

Limp Bizkit - Bleh. Chocolate Starfish had its moments, but they really should just die...

Linkin Park - I don't see why everyone hates them so much, they're not that bad. But I wouldn't say I was a fan of them.

Korn - MEH. DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE.

Deftones - Eww.

Meat Loaf - He's ok in moderation. Bat Outta Hell is a cool song.

Arch Enemy - Never heard of 'em

In Flames - They're ok. A bit too screamy-death-metal-ish for me, but I do listen to them occasionally.

Soilwork - Never heard of them.

Opeth - They're ok I guess. I'll leave them for Tristy though :P

Distillers - Meh. (Don't let Keef see that)

Meshuggah - I've heard about ten seconds of one song because Tristy force-fed me it, but I don't really have an opinion.

Dillinger Escape Plan - I've heard of them, but haven't heard of anythign by them.

Fear Factory - See D.E.P, except they remind me of Cradle of Filth, which is a bad thing.

Tool - A band I've been meaning to check out, but haven't yet.

A Perfect Circle - See above.

Massive Attack - Who?

Chemichal Brothers - EWWW. I hate them, with a fiery passion.

Van Halen - They're cool with me.

REM - Meh. I always get them confused with the Manic Street Preachers and the Stereophonics. They're the ones that did Everybody Hurts, right? That makes them the slightly more bearable of the trio...

Nirvana - All good in my book.

RHCP - DIE.

Soundgarden - Haven't heard much, but I liked what I have heard.

Alice In Chains - Rawk.

Manowar - RAWK~@!~!

Pearl Jam - They're pretty cool sometimes, when I feel like it :P

Smashing Pumpkins - Are they the ones that did Killer in Me and Taste In Men? I love those songs..I think it was them..they pwn.

Mastodon - I have an album, but I don't listen to it much.

Audioslave - See Soundgarden.

Guns And Roses - Rawk.

Velvet Revolver - Haven't heard anything by them yet, but since they're basically GnR - Axl, they'll probably be ok.

Muse - FUCK OFF.

Ash - No real opinion.

The Killers - Never heard of them, besides them being mentioned at EWB a lot.

Machine Head - MACHINE FUCKIN' HEAD! MACHINE FUCKIN' HEAD! Always will have a soft spot for them, as they were my first live gig, but their recent stuff has gone downhill.

Marilyn Manson - Meh. He's not bad, but I'm not a fan.

Emperor - Heard of them, but not much by them.

Sepultura - See above.

Faith No More - Who?

U2 - They're alright sometimes. Elevetion sucked, but Beautiful Day was ok. Haven't heard much of their old stuff, and if the new stuff is anything to go by, I won't bother.

Libertines - Meh.

System Of A Down - Meh. But slightly less meh than the other Mehs.

Joy Division - Not my taste really, but good for what they were.

The Smiths - Who?

The Streets - They're funny, but get boring after the first few listenings.

Morrissey - Twat. Complete, twat. But his music is ok.

Foo Fighters - Rawk!

Mars Volta - Suck!

Snoop Dogg - Rap! (that's worse than suck. So much worse..)

Eminem - Lose Yourself was pretty cool, but the rest..well...Rap!

Ja Rule - Rap!

Jay-Z - Rap!

Tupac - Rap!

Eric Clapton - Great.

Norah Jones - Who?

Bob Dylan - He's cool too.

Nine Inch Nails - I want to say they suck, just to piss off a certain NIN fanbou, but I can't, because they're actually pretty good.

David Gray - Annoying whiny tosser.

Jeff Buckley - Meh.

Tom Waits - Meh.

Depche Mode - Oh dear...

Nightwish - RAWK~!

Lacuna Coil - Rawk slightly less~!

New Order - See Joy Division.

My Dying Bride - See...one of the bands I've never heard of.

Coldplay - Talented, but not my style.

Keane - Depressing, whiny twats.

Stone Temple Pilots - Never heard their stuff, but they seem ok.

Bush - Who?

HIM - They're cool. Their stuff tends to go from Rawk! to Meh though.

Slipknot - The music is ok, the band are fags, the drummer is a talentless hack though. I mean seriously..a baseball bat?

The Clash - Cool.

The Sex Pistols - Cool.

Green Day - Annoying, but sometimes bearable.

NOFX - Almost always annoying, rarely bearable.

Rancid - Always annoying, never bearable (my roomie is a punk fan, so I have a pretty good knowledge of the last three :P)

Beastie Boys - Sometimes they can be ok, other times they can be suck.

Notorious B.I.G - Rap!

RATM - Overrated, but not bad.

36 Crazyfists - Never heard any of their stuff.

Killswitch Engage - Rawk.

That list sucked. I only actually liked about ten bands :P You almost killed me with all the rap shit, and gave me about three nerdrock bands as compensation :P

Dillinger Escape Plan - A stateside 'huggah (:shifty:) seriously speaking, I haven't given them too much attention.

The Clash - London Falling is an awesome, awesome record.

Please listen to it first, really. Liking it or not, is up to you of course, but don't compare DEP with other without giving it a proper listen.

You mean Calling right?

If you read my comments on Meshuggah, you should have realized that being compared to Meshuggah is a good thing in my books. I base that on what people have told me, because a lot of people who listen to both bands find them much alike. I have nothing special to say against or for DEP, because like I said, I haven't given them too much attention as of now.

And obviously I meant Calling, d'oh. Typo, my bad.

yeah. i saw you liked meshuggah. That's why i said "like it or not". The fact that you like meshuggah may not necessarily need you will like DEP. I only said that because i don't find them to be that similar so i suggested you to give it a listen first. Maybe you like it, maybe not, but i'm sure you'll find differences between the two. I personally like DEP a lot, and i'm not a fan of meshuggah. Maybe you will end up not liking DEP, while being a fan of meshuggah.

Well, the are both part of the same genre, with Meshuggah just having deathier vocals, really. So I could see why people would compare them.

AC/DC - My all-time favourites. As was said before, they don't do a lot, but they do it well.

Slayer - Meh.

Metallica - Haven't heard much apart from the black album, and enjoyed it.

Megadeth - Can listen to them for about 15 minutes before they start to bore me.

Pantera - Underrated.

Iron Maiden - One of the all-time greats. Very few songs I don't like.

Def Leppard - A lot of their songs sound the same, but Hysteria is a great album.

Led Zeppelin - Another favourite. Could do everything, from hard rock (Communication Breakdown) to easy listening (Tangerine)

The Beatles - Not all they're hyped up to be, but their place in music is undeniable.

The Who - Not a huge fan, but My Generation is among my Top 100 tracks.

Elvis Presley - Like The Beatles, overrated, but still a lot better than most.

Limp Bizkit - Aside from My Way and Build a Bridge, I hate everything by them.

Linkin Park - About half of Meteora is good, the rest is meh

Korn - Went off them after hearing Another Brick in the Wall. They ruined a classic.

Meat Loaf - Not fantastic, but Bat Out of Hell is a great album.

Chemichal Brothers - Meh

Van Halen - Very flamboyant, and also great fun to listen to.

REM - One of my favourites to listen to while I'm feeling depressed.

Nirvana - IMO, the most overrated band imaginable. Painfully average, and I don't see what makes them stand out.

RHCP - Not really bothered either way, but I have a few albums.

Soundgarden - Only heard Black Hole Sun (I think that's by them) and enjoyed it

Alice In Chains - Not bad by any standards.

Pearl Jam - Like Megadeth, I can take them in small doses.

Audioslave - An enjoyable band.

Guns And Roses - I loved Use Your Illusion I & II, and the greatest hits ain't bad.

Velvet Revolver - Contraband is a great album.

Muse - Only heard Absolution and Feeling Good, but all good.

Ash - Not bad.

The Killers - One of my favourite bands of the moment. All These Things... is a great track.

Marilyn Manson - Pain in the ass, who murdered Personal Jesus.

Faith No More - Good band. My favourite track is From Out of Nowhere.

U2 - While not superb, a lot of their tracks are very enjoyable.

Libertines - Can't Stand Me Now wears on me, but The Man Who Would... is great.

The Smiths - Pretty good. 7/10

The Streets - I have no time for rap. Same goes for all the other rappers here.

Morrissey - Every bit as good as he was in the Smiths, imo.

Snoop Dogg

Eminem

Ja Rule

Jay-Z

Tupac

Eric Clapton - A legend, but I'm personally not a fan. Tears from Heaven is good.

Norah Jones - Very good easy listening music.

Bob Dylan - An absolute legend, and one of the greatest lyricists of the century.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah is a beautiful song.

Tom Waits - He's not bad.

Depche Mode - Not the type of music I normally like, but I do like DP.

Coldplay - A bit overrated, but good stadium rock (I think that's the term)

Keane - Have the album, and while not as good as it's supposed to be, still 8/10.

HIM - Have no time for them. Irritating music, to say the least.

Slipknot - Arseholes who write shit music.

The Clash - My favourite punk band of all-time.

The Sex Pistols - My second favourite punk band of all-time.

Green Day - What I've heard has been generally very good.
