I'll take suggestions but I need some Metal bands and albums to get into. My current collection is stale. I'm looking to go with Death Metal, but anything else is fine.

The obvious choice for Death Metal is Cradle Of Filth. The new album (Nymphetamine) is amazing, and I'd highly suggest that or Lovecraft & Witch Hearts (a best of type dealie).

Of course, I don't know what you have in your collection, and am basing this only on what I like.

You did say anything else is fine, so...

Judas Priest - British Steel

Scratch that. Any JP is fine. Also, any Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, or Motorhead should get you off on a better track, no pun intended.

Yeah, I'm a little old school...

Trivium is nice. It's Americanized Metal, like Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall & Lamb Of God.

Gorgoroth is good. The production is utter shit, but the music is good.

My only real suggestion that I hope you actually download some shit by is Acid Bath. Mainly "Dead Girl", "Bleed Me An Ocean", "Scream of the Butterfly" and "Paegan Love Song".

If he was going to get a DT album, I'd probably recommend Images And Words, with the general consensus that it is thier best album and all.

It's not exactly true, definitive, hard-hitting metal, but Mudvayne's new album, "Lost & Found" is a great album to pick up. I just so happen to have a copy before it releases tomorrow, but that's my business. <_<

Also, anything rvd's mentioned.

Also Check Out:

Unearth - "The Oncoming Storm"

All That Remains - "This Darkened Heart"

A Bitter Farewell - "Hope Then Vengence" (EP)

Bloodsimple - "A Cruel World"

Bury Your Dead - "Cover Your Tracks"

Demon Hunter - "Summer of Darkness"

Dry Kill Logic - "The Dead and Dreaming"

Mnemic - "The Audio Injected Soul"

Shadows Fall - "The War Within"

Warhorse - "As Heaven Turns to Ashes"

Yeah, more Metalcore than anything, but nonetheless, it's all good.

I agree, but Train of Thought is by far the most Death Metal-ish.

I also recommend any of the live albums, especially Live Scenese from New York and Live at Budokan, both are 3 discs, for about $20, each disc is damn near an hour.

It's the heaviest they've done, but it doesn't sound like Dream Theater to me really...it is a bit too generic.

He also said Death Metal, or anything really, so if you go for some Dream Theater (which he should, they are awesome) Images And Words or A Change Of Seasons are good to start with.
