Guest RickyW

Alldawson, I've waited for the WWE to give Conway a singles push for a long time now, and it's yet to happen. From the past RAW & your preview I'm guessing your either teasing it or leading towards it.

Segment 1: Gauntlet To The Game Recap

(3 Minutes)

The first RAW of August began with a video package for the 'Gauntlet To The Game' - the task devised by Triple H to try and avoid facing Shelton Benjamin in a singles match. As the package showed, the 'Gauntlet To The Game' didn't go to The Game's liking, as Shelton Benjamin defeated Big Show, Ric Flair and Snitsky to earn a match with Triple H at SummerSlam on August 21st. The video ended with Shelton looking delighted and Triple H fuming.

Overall Rating = 82.3%

Segment 2: Carlito's Cabana

(13 Minutes)

The ring was set up for Carlito's Cabana. Carlito made his way to the ring, apple in hand as always. Carlito said he was happy. Obviously it wasn't because he was in Texas, said Carlito (drawing huge boos from the crowd), it was because he had a great guest tonight. We were told that his guest had been introduced to us before and was by no means a stranger. Carlito introduced his guest - Randy Orton! Orton confidently walked to the ring looking smugly around at the crowd. He shook hands with Carlito as he entered the ring. Carlito asked Orton how his shoulder was, which according to Orton was doing brilliantly and he would be back wrestling very shortly. The host then asked his guest what his plans on RAW were. Orton said thanks to the Draft Lottery, he had some business to finish with The Undertaker. At WrestleMania 21 Orton injured his shoulder in a match against Undertaker - the reason for his losing, said Orton. Orton then applauded GM Eric Bischoff's decision to suspend The Undertaker, but he said he would have to unsuspend 'Taker sometime because the Legend Killer wanted to dispose of the Legend once and for all.

Segment 3: Mike Awesome vs. Snitsky

(10 Minutes)

The undefeated Mike Awesome was coming off of a very impressive victory last week when he defeated all three members of La Resistance in a handicap match. Snitsky was a tough task himself, though, and he proved it in the early going of the match. Awesome's few strikes were no match for Snitsky's clobbering blows. Awesome was soon slumped in the corner, Snitsky's boot pressed against his throat. Snitsky took it to the RAW newcomer with an incredible display of strength as he lifted Awesome above his head and tossed him to the mat. Awesome began to mount a comeback with some hard right hand shots, but was cut short by Snitsky's big boot and a near fall. Snitsky looked to finish off the bout then and there, but Awesome had other plans, slipping out of Snitsky's powerslam attempt and hitting a side kick to his jaw. Both men got to their feet and exchange blows, Awesome hitting a big clothesline to take his opponent to the mat. Awesome showed his strength shortly after, lifting up and planting Snitsky with an Awesome Bomb. That got the 3.

Winner: Mike Awesome

Segment 4: Another Match For SummerSlam

(10 Minutes)

Chris Benoit made his way down to the ring and took a microphone. He said that last week he issued a challenge to Muhammad Hassan for a match at SummerSlam - and now he wanted Hassan's response. Benoit waited and waited until eventually Hassan's music began to play. Only Daivari appeared, though. He had a microphone and was screaming something in Arabic. Benoit was then taken down from behind by Hassan. Hassan beat down on Benoit with punches and kicks and Daivari soon joined in. Hassan's modified STO put a stop to Benoit's comeback attempt. Hassan then locked on the Camel Clutch as Benoit yelled in pain. Daivari screamed some more Arabic before pointing the microphone at Hassan, who spoke while still having Benoit in the clutch. Hassan said that Candians were just as bad at being prejudiced and discriminating as Americans, Benoit was a prime example apparently. Hassan then accepted Benoit's challenge to a match at SummerSlam, saying he would put the Intercontinental Championship on the line to show he was not afraid to do so. Hassan and Daivari left the ring, leaving Benoit lying on the mat.

Overall Rating = 75.2%

Segment 5: Date Is Set For Title Match

(4 Minutes)

Todd Grisham was standing by with the World Tag Team Champions, Simon Dean and Maven, backstage. The champions said that the date had been set for their 'retaining of the Tag Team Titles'. The first RAW following SummerSlam, on August 22nd would be when the title match happens. They also said that having William Regal at ringside would do nothing for the challengers, they would still fall to the 'mighty Simon System'.

Overall Rating = 70.9%

Segment 6: Eugene, Heidenreich & William Regal vs. La Resistance

(15 Minutes)

La Resistance made their way to the ring, Dupree and Grenier talking tactics to Conway who's been going through a rough patch as of late. The trio started off the match well, managing to isolate Heidenreich and triple-teaming him when they got the opportunity. Grenier, the legal man, began to work on Heidenreich's leg, but he kicked away Sylvain, taking him to the mat with a clothesline before making the tag to William Regal. Regal came in and cleaned house, but quickly ran into trouble as the numbers game proved effective. Eugene entered at this point, blocking punches from Grenier and Dupree and hitting them with punches of his own. Conway staggered back from a Regal forearm, straight into a Stunner from Eugene! Regal went for the pin but Dupree broke it up. The match broke down as all six men brawled in and around the ring. It ended up with the legal men being Eugene and Conway. The two fought it out in the middle of the ring. Conway looked for a piledriver, but Eugene countered and hit the Rock Bottom. Eugene crawled into the cover and the referee's hand slapped the mat 3 times.

Following the match, Dupree and Grenier got into the ring and interrogated Conway. Grenier slapped Conway before he and Dupree left the ring, pointing back at Conway and mouthing that he was a disappointment.

Winners: Eugene, Heidenreich & William Regal

Segment 7: She's Coming Back

(3 Minutes)

Another video to inform us that Trish Stratus will be returning soon was aired. It showed just some of Trish's career highlights including her WWE Women's Championship wins. Again, it ended with a pink scrawl of writing that said 'Trish Returns... Soon'.

Overall Rating = 77.0%

Segment 8: "Who Cares If Trish Is Returning?"

(4 Minutes)

Lita came down to the ring and got on the microphone. She addressed the crowd about the last video that had aired, hyping Trish Stratus' return to RAW. Lita said she, along with everybody else, didn't care that Trish was coming back. Lita knocked Trish Stratus saying the only thing she'll be good for when she comes back is to pass on the WWE Women's Title to her. The crowd did not take Lita's comments well, booing her out of the arena.

Overall Rating = 50.7%

Segment 9: Rob Van Dam vs. Triple H

(16 Minutes)

Triple H was not in the best of moods as he took on 'Mr. Monday Night'. He began the match in total control, pounding away viciously on RVD in the corner before letting up because of the referee's orders. The Game continued to dominate, drilling his opponent with a knee smash, getting a 2 count in the process. Triple H then locked on a rear chin lock and applied the pressure. RVD managed to fight out of it, but was slammed to the mat via his hair. Triple H wanted to finish RVD early, but his plans were foiled as Van Dam reversed a Pedigree into a catapult, sending The Game over the top rope and tumbling to the outside. RVD took control of the match on the outside, placing Triple H over the security barrier and connecting with a spinning heel kick from the apron. Back in the ring, RVD hit a split-legged moonsault for a near fall. More kicks from RVD followed and then a Rolling Thunder connected for another near fall. Van Dam was in total control as he went for the Five Star Frog Splash. Triple H managed to roll out of the way, though. The Game hit a neckbreaker and a knee drop as he began to methodically tear RVD apart, targeting the knee. After a chop block, Triple H was distracted as Shelton Benjamin came down the ramp. Triple H started mouthing off as Shelton just grinned. Triple H turned back to RVD, but received a foot in the jaw as RVD hit an athletic jumping spin-kick. A Triple H clothesline attempt went awry and took out the referee. Triple H then hit a low blow on his opponent. The Game set up for the Pedigree, but with the referee down, Shelton Benjamin entered the ring and rocked Triple H with the T-Bone Suplex. RVD then went up-top as Shelton revived the referee. Van Dam came off with the Five Star Frog Splash and got the 1, 2, 3.

RVD celebrated in the ring after the bell had rung as Benjamin made his way back up the ramp, laughing at Triple H. The Game was not happy and took out his frustrations on an unsuspecting RVD. Triple H hit the Pedigree on Van Dam, pointing up at Shelton to signal that it would be him on the receiving end of the Pedigree at SummerSlam.

Winner: Rob Van Dam

Segment 10: The Number One Contender Speaks

(5 Minutes)

RAW interviewer, Maria, was standing by backstage. Edge came into view and quickly shut Maria up, telling her anything she said was stupid and pointless. He made her hold the microphone to his mouth so he could speak. Edge said that tonight he teams with The Big Show and they were going to destroy Batista and Chris Jericho. Edge also told us that at SummerSlam there would be a new World Heavyweight Champion when he beats Batista in the middle of the ring - 1, 2, 3. Tonight, said Edge, would be a SummerSlam warm-up for him, Batista will be battered and beaten, which would only be a taste of what was to come at SummerSlam.

Overall Rating = 75.2%

Segment 11: Smackdown! Rebound

(4 Minutes)

The Smackdown! Rebound was shown. The events from last week's Smackdown! were covered, mainly the war of words between John Cena and Eddie Guerrero and the match they mutually agreed to at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship. The return of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was also shown, announcing that John Cena would be the guest on the returning Piper's Pit this coming Thursday.

Overall Rating = 80.1%

Segment 12: Strategy Talk

(1 Minute)

The camera caught Chris Jericho and Batista (World Heavyweight Title around his waist) walking backstage, on their way to the ring. They seemed to be talking strategy but we couldn't hear their exact words as J.R. was announcing that the tag team main event was up next.

Overall Rating = 77.8%

Segment 13: Batista & Chris Jericho vs. Edge w/Lita & The Big Show

(20 Minutes)

Chris Jericho and Edge began the match, Jericho taking control early on with a running enziguri. Batista then came in and we had a brief SummerSlam preview as he drilled Edge with a powerslam before the number one contender could escape the ring and tag in Big Show. Show shoved Batista, but got shoved right back. He went for the Chokeslam, but Batista countered and knocked him down with a clothesline. Jericho came back into the match and pounded away on Show until he was stopped by a big boot. Jericho was then isolated by some good teamwork from Edge and Big Show, who used frequent tags and double teams to wear down Y2J, targeting the ribs that were injured by Big Show's Chokeslam onto the steel steps the other week. Jericho managed to get out of the predicament eventually. He looked for an enziguri, which Edge ducked and it clocked Show. Jericho then span out of the hold Edge had on his foot and connected with another enziguri before tagging in Batista. Batista took down Edge with a clothesline, and then Big Show. A back body drop for Edge was next and a big elbow for The Big Show. Batista looked to beat on Edge, but Show intervened and a double team on Batista ensued. Jericho was able to help his partner out, sending Big Show out of the ring and following up with a dive onto him on the outside. Big Show and Jericho brawled all the way into the crowd and out of sight. Lita got up on the apron to distract Batista, but she got pulled into the ring. The champion signalled for the Batista Bomb, but he was cut off by Edge who hit the Spear! Edge covered Batista and got the 3!

Lita entered the ring holding the World Heavyweight Title. She gave it to Edge who grinned as he held Lita by his side and the World Title in the air, Batista out on the mat below them.

Winners: Edge & The Big Show

Micheals vs. Guerrero looks like a classic AllDawson. I am also looking forward to the Haas vs. Storm match, and am hoping Haas gets the title. The triple threat match should be fun, and I am expecting one team to get screwed, possibly the Bashams winning with the Killer Bee finish. Good work and keep it up Alldawson

Segment 1: Paul London vs. Christian

(10 Minutes)

This week's Smackdown!, emanating from Minnesota, began with the former Cruiserweight Champion, Paul London, in singles action against 'Captain Charisma', Christian. Paul London used his superior speed ability to rock Christian early in the match, connecting with a couple of arm drags, a hurricanrana and a dropsault to send Christian out of the ring for a breather. London didn't let up though, hitting an asai moonsault on his opponent to the outside. London went up-top as the action came back into the ring, but Christian cut him off, sending him groin-first onto the turnbuckle. Captain Charisma got his first main piece of offense in in the shape of a superplex that got him a 2 count. London rallied back with some kicks, but Christian ducked an enziguri and hit a reverse DDT for another 2. Christian wrapped London in a sleeper hold and nearly had him pass out, but London came back riding the crowd's energy and hit a flying forearm as he came off of the ropes. London was hyped up as he hit some forearms on Christian. His Irish whip was reversed and Christian looked for a monkey flip, but London landed on his feet and hit a superkick for a near fall. London dragged his opponent to the corner and ascended the ropes. He jumped off with the Shooting Star Press, but Christian was able to roll out of the way. London staggered to his feet holding his stomach and was easy pickings for Christian, who nailed him with the Unprettier and got the 3 count.

Winner: Christian

Segment 2: Piper's Pit w/John Cena

(13 Minutes)

Upon returning from a commercial break, we see the ring mat has been covered with a tartan carpet. Two stools (with tartan seat covers) take up the middle of the ring, a microphone on each. The familiar music of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper hits and the Hall Of Famer makes his way to the ring. The crowd cheer as Piper takes his microphone and introduces them to Piper's Pit. Piper then shows a video to the crowd of the numerous famous moments in the old Piper's Pit before introducing his first guest on 'the new Piper's Pit' - WWE Champion John Cena. Cena got to the ring to huge cheers and a 'Cena' chant began. Cena said he was thrilled to be the first guest on the new Piper's Pit. Piper asked Cena what it had been like being the WWE Champion. Cena said it had been one hell of a ride, from beating JBL at WrestleMania to defeating Christian at The Great American Bash. Piper also questioned Cena on his next challenger for the WWE Title - Eddie Guerrero. Cena said he knew Eddie was a great wrestler, after all he had been WWE Champion before and had a decent run. But Cena said that now was his time, not Eddie's, and just like he did at WrestleMania to JBL and at Great American Bash to Christian, he would defeat Eddie at SummerSlam and walk out with the WWE Title still around his waist.

Overall Rating = 82.6%

Segment 3: Funaki vs. Elix Skipper

(9 Minutes)

Skipper started off his second WWE match strong as he really took it to Funaki with right hands and a big spinning heel kick. Funaki battled back with some punches of his own, but his cross body block attempt was stopped as Primetime caught and drilled him with a backbreaker for a 2 count. Skipper used his size advantage to dominate his smaller opponent, choking him in the corner a couple of times. Funaki then connected with some knife-edge chops, but his rally was cut off again as Skipper countered a tornado DDT with a powerslam. Skipper continued to dominate the match with a swinging neckbreaker for another near fall. Funaki ducked a superkick and got one of his own, but was unable to capitalise. Funaki's chops came to nothing as Skipper rocked him with a stalling front suplex, rolling him over into a pin after the move and getting the 3 count.

Winner: Elix Skipper

Match Reaction = 69.4%

Match Quality = 70.7%

Overall Rating = 71.8%

Segment 4: The Man Beast Strikes Again

(10 Minutes)

Rey Mysterio came down to the ring ready for singles action. As he entered the ring and climbed the turnbuckles to salute the fans, however, 'The Man Beast' Rhyno slid into the ring out of nowhere and attacked him. Rhyno clobbered Mysterio with some hard blows and kicked him to the mat viciously. The referee in the ring tried to stop it but failed as he was thrown over the top rope and to the outside. Mysterio tried to fight back, but he was beaten down some more and drilled with a piledriver. Rhyno took a table out from under the ring and propped it up in a corner in the ring. Numerous officials and backstage crew flooded the ring, but Rhyno took them all out with punches and/or kicks. He then slumped Rey onto the table in the corner and connected with the Gore, sending Mysterio through the table and onto the turnbuckles. The Man Beast left the ring through the crowd as Rey was out among the remains of the table, being seen to by EMTs.

Overall Rating = 75.4%

Segment 5: RAW Rebound

(5 Minutes)

The RAW Rebound was shown, mainly concentrating on the tag team main event between Batista/Chris Jericho and Edge/Big Show. It showed Edge's spear to Batista multiple times and ended with the image of him standing over the champion, with the belt raised above his head, J.R.'s commentary of "Will this be the scene in three weeks at SummerSlam?!" echoing as the video ended.

Overall Rating = 77.6%

Segment 6: WWE Tag Team Championship

Bubba Ray Dudley w/D-Von Dudley vs. Doug Basham w/Danny Basham vs. Joey Mercury © w/Johnny Nitro & Melina

(14 Minutes)

This very unique triple threat match for the WWE Tag Team Championship would begin with complete chaos as all three teams brawled around the ring before the opening bell had sounded, Melina's screams echoing around the arena. Numerous officials had to rush down to the ring to restore order, ejecting Danny Basham, Johnny Nitro and D-Von Dudley from ringside to make things fair. The triple threat eventually got underway with Mercury and Doug double-teaming Bubba Ray Dudley. Basham soon turned on his temporary partner though, driving Mercury to the mat with a DDT and getting a 2 count for his effort. Bubba came back into the picture and took down both of his opponents with scoop slams and elbows to the head. In a comical moment, Bubba slammed Mercury to the mat and told Basham to go up-top. Doug performed the 'Whassup' diving headbutt but then had to break up the ensuing pinfall. Bubba looked to be in control, but he was stopped from completing the Bubba Bomb on Doug by Joey Mercury who rocked Bubba with a hurricanrana for a near fall. Basham then went for a superplex on Mercury. Bubba grabbed Basham and lifted him up, making the superplex even bigger, but also damaging Doug with an electric chair. Bubba tried a cover on both men, but both were able to kick out. Doug then took control with a devastating neckbreaker on Bubba, but was denied the 3 count as Mercury had pulled the referee aside. All three men ended up brawling. Mercury levelled Bubba with a flipping neckbreaker from the top rope and then kicked out of a roll-up by Doug. As Bubba lay on the mat, nursing his neck, Mercury ducked a Basham clothesline and connected with a superkick to get the 3 count and retain the tag team titles for MNM.

Winner: Joey Mercury

Match Quality = 67.7%

Segment 7: Angle Has No Answer

(7 Minutes)

Kurt Angle was interviewed by Steve Romero backstage. Romero asked the Olympian whether he was going to accept the challenge that HBK was going to make last week, the one for a match at SummerSlam. Angle paused and then insulted Shawn Michaels, saying he was nothing but a show-off and too cocky for his own good. HBK wouldn't want to step in the ring with Angle again because he knows he'd get his ankle destroyed, according to Angle. Romero repeated his question, saying Angle hadn't actually said whether he would accept the challenge or not. Angle asked Romero if he knew who he was talking to and he didn't deserve to be treated that way - he is an Olympic Gold Medalist after all. Angle then walked off, not answering Romero's question.

Overall Rating = 80.1%

Segment 8: WWE United States Championship

Charlie Haas vs. Lance Storm © w/Dawn Marie

(16 Minutes)

Lance Storm had a nasty-looking black eye - a result of his match at The Great American Bash a couple of weeks ago. The match began as a strictly wrestling affair, but Haas' out-wrestling Storm annoyed the champion and he quickly turned it into a brawl, rocking Haas with some stiff punches and insulting him with some slaps. Storm sent Haas to the opposite ropes and landed a high leg clothesline for a near fall. Haas came back with a couple of vertical suplexes, following them up with a big back body drop and a 2 count. The match spilled to the outside where Haas was thrown into the steel steps by Storm, Dawn Marie cheering him on. Back in the ring Storm applied a dragon sleeper but Haas eventually battled out of it and reversed the hold into a northern light suplex, with a bridge for a near fall. Haas ducked a clothesline but then got a mouthful of foot from a superkick. Storm came off of the top rope with a missile dropkick, but Haas dodged and laid out the champion with a neckbreaker. Haas mounted Storm in the corner and started the 10-punch combo, but it was cut short as Dawn Marie got on the apron and started mouthing off at Haas. Haas was distracted and Storm took the opportunity to powerbomb Haas, holding onto his leg and turning him over into the Canadian Maple Leaf. Haas edged towards the ropes, but Storm was able to drag him into the center of the ring, giving Haas no option but to tap out.

Winner: Lance Storm

Match Reaction = 70.8%

Match Quality = 79.6%

Overall Rating = 84.7%

Segment 9: Attack On A Quarter Of The Cabinet

(3 Minutes)

The cameras caught JBL and The Bashams walking backstage. JBL said it was unlucky they didn't win the Tag Team Championship tonight before retelling the beating they gave The Rock at The Great American Bash. They turned a corner and saw Orlando Jordan, face-down on the concrete and a small bit of blood trickling down the floor. The Bashams searched the area as JBL tried to see if Orlando was alright. He called for medics as Orlando wasn't moving at all.

Overall Rating = 64.4%

Segment 10: Main Event

Shawn Michaels vs. Eddie Guerrero

(21 Minutes)

The match began at a slow pace as HBK managed to take down Eddie numerous times, causing Eddie to slide to the outside and take a moment or two to regroup. Finally the match reached a better pace as Eddie took control and locked Michaels in a headlock. HBK eventually got out of the hold and hit a snap suplex. He then sent Eddie into the corner where they exchanged some knife-edge chops. Eddie used a thumb to the eye to get an advantage and took HBK to the mat with a kick to the knee. Eddie worked on his opponent's knee, using varying leg locks and stomps to weaken it. He even locked in the El Paso, but HBK got to the ropes to break it. Some more knife-edge chops from Eddie stung the chest of Michaels, but Michaels came back with chops and punches of his own and knocked Eddie down with a flying forearm before nipping up, connecting with an inverted atomic drop and a scoop slam. HBK climbed to the top rope, looking for the elbow drop, but Eddie moved and proceeded to waffle Michaels with the Three Amigos. Guerrero climbed up-top to try and execute the Frog Splash, but Michaels rolled out of the way. Guerrero then ducked the Sweet Chin Music, which connected with the referee, knocking him out. Eddie took the chance and hit a low blow. He then grabbed a chair from ringside and returned to the ring with it. Michaels dodged the attack and laid out Guerrero with the Sweet Chin Music. HBK limped over to the referee as Kurt Angle ran down the aisle and slid into the ring. Angle took down HBK with an Angle Slam and then tightly put him in the Ankle Lock, wrapping his legs around HBK's body to prevent any escape. As the referee and Eddie came to, Angle exited the ring, leaving HBK clutching his ankle. Eddie came off of the top with the Frog Splash moments later and the referee made the 3 count.

After the match had ended, Angle once again entered the ring and put HBK in the Ankle Lock. Michaels screaming while in Angle's Ankle Lock was the final image we saw as Smackdown! came to an end.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Nice Smackdown.

- Nice opening matchup between London & Christian. Though, I'm hoping this doesn't demote Christian to midcard hell as I'm dying for someone to do a successful Christian reign with THE belt...and I think you could do it. Though I like the idea of Eddie walking into Summerslam also.

- Piper's Pit is back. Piper's pretty good on the mic, though I've never been a fan of his ringwork. Though I give the segment a thumbs up.

- Elix Skipper wins again, Great! I like what your doing. I can't wait to see Skipper take on London, Juvi and the rest of your cruiserweights.

- Not really sure where your heading with Rhyno, but you've got my eye.

- Interesting Three Way match.

- I love how you handled Angle in the promo.

- I'm glad you had Storm hold on to the belt. The way you did it was perfect. Have the valet distract Haas, leading to his downfall. I see quite a few good matches out of the two of them.

- I'm guessing it's The Rock getting revenge on The cabinet for the beat down. I'm guessing one more JBL/Rock match for the blow off?

- Great main event between HBK & Guerrero

- As for all heels winning, who cares? It was a great show.

- As for all heels winning, who cares? It was a great show.

Maybe it applies for the crowd in question at that show. If heels win all of the way, they can't really celebrate because the bad guy has won. It could affect the rating, but I don't know if the rating goes in that deep.

Haas/Storm and Guerrero/Michaels were great matches and I doubt that's the last encounters.

I think Christian's momentum has completely gone if I'm honest. After losing to Rey on Velocity and winning in the opening match against London on Smackdown - I think a good midcard feud is all that's left for him now.

I didn't like the single teams for the Tag Team Championships. As far as I'm concerned - Tag Team belts for Tag Team wrestling. It's like how in WCW in 1999, they had a tag match where the guy who makes a pin gets the belt. It can lead to confusion and take away the point of the belt. It's like having, for example, a straight up technical wrestling match with no weapons used for the Hardcore title.

Other than that - still a superfantasticow00t diary.

It has been reported that WWE RAW superstars Edge and The Big Show have renewed their contracts with the company. Both contracts appear to be for a lengthy time, early 2008 has been estimated. Both men are said to be very happy with their current position in the company and were eager to get the contracts sorted and out of the way.

Took me a bit to get caught back up, specially with the frequent updates that go with this diary. Has definately been a good read with endings to the regular storylines, and then the creation of some of your new ones.

Christian losing to Rey and then beating London kind of came off bad to me. Could be the fact that I'm a London fan. It also makes me questions, are you not a fan of Christian. It seems that you took what could have been a hot fued and pushed him down to the bottom of the card again

Angle/Michaels is a great fued and Michaels match with Guerrero was nice. Hassan/Benoit is hopefully a chance to put Hassan over without hurting Benoit too much. And while I hate Edge, it is good to have him resigned.

WWE RAW Preview

August 8th, 2005

Last week's RAW went off the air with Edge standing tall over the fallen Batista, the World Heavyweight Title in his hands. Was this a preview of things to come at SummerSlam? This Monday night on RAW both Edge and Batista will be in attendance as they are both guests on Carlito's Cabana! Will the challenger and the champion be able to keep their cools? Or will we see it all break down into a brawl? We'll find out on RAW.

Also in last week's main event, we saw Chris Jericho and The Big Show brawl their way through the crowd and out of sight. Chris Jericho will get some time on the microphone this week as he speaks about his issues with The Big Show.

Shelton Benjamin cost Triple H his match last week, as he was beaten by Rob Van Dam. Both men are in action this week, Shelton Benjamin faces RAW debutant Kid Kash and Triple H will go one-on-one with Booker T!

Lita has requested to meet with RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff this week, but we don't know why. Could it be something to do with Trish Stratus' impending return? Or is it something completely different?

Last week on RAW La Resistance's performance began to deteriorate, Dupree and Grenier put the blame on Robert Conway. This continued into Sunday Night Heat where Conway accidentally cost Sylvain Grenier a match against The Hurricane. Dupree and Grenier have requested that Conway have a singles match on RAW, so they can watch him closely and see where he's going wrong. Eric Bischoff has accepted the request and Conway's opponent will be none other than 'Mr. Monday Night' Rob Van Dam.

Muhammad Hassan attacked Chris Benoit last Monday night before accepting Benoit's challenge to a match at SummerSlam. Benoit will try to take out some of his anger this Monday on RAW, but he won't have an easy time doing it as he faces Randy Orton! These two met with the World Heavyweight Title on the line at last year's SummerSlam and it was a great match. Will they have another classic encounter this Monday?

Don't miss RAW this Monday night just two weeks away from SummerSlam!

Confirmed Matches:

Shelton Benjamin vs. Kid Kash

Booker T vs. Triple H

Rob Van Dam vs. Robert Conway w/Rene Dupree & Sylvain Grenier

Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

RAW is lookung a lil bit better than Sd imho

Look at these matches WoW

Benjamin againt Kash - I wanna see Kash's debut be a win but i also want Shelton to win every match possible (H)

Conway - RVD

I would love to see Conway win here and show how good he is... RVD though... thats tough competition

Trips - Booka T

Triple H should win here simply becuz what does Booka have to gain from a win.. put Booka in a match at ZSummerslam would be a good choice

Segment 1: Carlito's Cabana w/Batista & Edge

(14 Minutes)

Carlito made his way down to the ring to begin this week's RAW, the ring was already prepared for the Cabana. Carlito introduced his guests, the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, and the number one contender, Edge. Carlito asked Batista first what he thought his chances of retaining the championship at SummerSlam were. Batista said he had an extremely good chance of retaining his belt, because all Edge had done over the past few weeks were to make The Animal mad, and that's one thing you do not want to do. Carlito asked Edge whether he could come away with the title at SummerSlam, to which Edge replied that he knew, Batista knew and everybody else knew that it was Edge's time now, Batista had had his fifteen minutes of fame and it was time for Edge to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Batista and Edge got in each other's face, but Edge backed away. Edge nodded to Carlito with a confident grin on his face. Carlito then gave Batista a low blow and Edge began to beat down on the champion. After Edge had done beating down Batista, Carlito added insult to injury by spitting apple in the champion's face.

Overall Rating = 73.8%

Segment 2: Shelton Benjamin vs. Kid Kash

(12 Minutes)

Kid Kash was making his RAW debut and during his entrance J.R. and Jerry Lawler commentated over some footage of Kash in action, in ECW and then the couple of matches he's had on Sunday Night Heat. Kash impressed in the early going using a combination of hurricanranas and head-scissor takedowns to put Shelton off of his game. Benjamin came back strong, though, as he drilled Kash with some clotheslines and got a Samoan drop for a 2 count. Kash took a breather on the outside, but it was cut short as Benjamin dived over the top rope and onto his opponent. Back in the ring, Benjamin connected with some knife-edge chops and nailed a brainbuster for a near fall. Kash fought back with some dirty techniques. He hit Shelton with a couple of snap suplexes and a basement dropkick before landing a springboard moonsault for a 2 count. A Kid Kash dropkick sent Shelton out onto the apron, but Kash's following punches were blocked and Benjamin clocked his opponent with a kick to the head before leaping from the top rope with a springboard bulldog. Kash stumbled into the corner and was drilled with the Stinger Splash before falling victim to the T-Bone Suplex. The referee made the 3 count and Benjamin was announced as the victor.

Following the match, Triple H rushed into the ring and started pummeling Shelton in the corner. Shelton battled back, though, and looked to lay out Triple H with the T-Bone Suplex, but The Game elbowed out of the move and slid to the outside, retreating back up the ramp smiling. Triple H tapped his head as if to say he was smart as he escaped to the back.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Match Reaction = 72.2%

Match Quality = 78.4%

Overall Rating = 72.7%

Segment 3: Enough Is Enough

(9 Minutes)

'Y2J' Chris Jericho made an appearance, walking down to the ring and taking a microphone. He said that he was at RAW tonight for one reason and one reason only. That was to challenge The Big Show to a match at SummerSlam. Jericho said he and Big Show had been going at each other week after week after week, but now 'enough is enough' said Jericho. Jericho wanted to end things between he and Big Show once and for all. Everybody still remembers Jericho being Chokeslammed on the steel steps the other week and Jericho said he would do something similar to Big Show at SummerSlam when he accepts the challenge.

Overall Rating = 84.4%

Segment 4: Challenge Accepted

(8 Minutes)

Shortly after returning from a commercial break, we see Chris Jericho walking backstage. The Big Show then comes out of nowhere, breaking a bit of wooden board over Y2J's back. Jericho falls to the floor and Big Show continues to attack with big boots kicking away at Jericho's body. The beating spills into the locker room area where several superstars try to break it up, but Big Show just shoves them away. Jericho tries to comeback with some punches, but Big Show strikes back by hitting him with a steel chair as they brawl into an open area. Show continues the assault by throwing Jericho head-first through a car window. Jericho's bleeding profusely by the time we get another glimpse of his face. Big Show opens the trunk of the same car and stuffs Jericho inside it, slamming the door on him. Big Show walks away as J.R. prays the 'heinous assault' is over. Big Show comes back moments later though, holding a big cinder block. As the commentry team and nearby crew yell for Show not to do it, the seven foot, five hundred pound monster slams the block down repeatedly on the trunk of the car, denting it several times and leaving Jericho in an unknown state. Show yells that he accepts Jericho's challenge... if he can make it to SummerSlam, that is.

Overall Rating = 74.6%

Segment 5: Rob Van Dam vs. Robert Conway w/Rene Dupree & Sylvain Grenier

(14 Minutes)

Dupree and Grenier were giving Conway tips of advice as he made his way down to the ring. Conway began the match well, taking down RVD with some technical takedowns and wearing him down with a tightly applied headlock. RVD tried to come back, but Conway kept the momentum in his favor by cutting him off with a big knee to the gut and sending him crashing into the turnbuckles. Van Dam managed to flip out of a suplex attempt and hit a reverse enziguri to send Conway to the outside. Dupree and Grenier helped Conway to his feet, but all three were on the floor moments later as RVD leaped from the ring onto all of them. Back in the ring, RVD hit a split-legged moonsault for a near fall. Conway ducked a spinning kick and laid out RVD with a big back drop and hit three elbow drops in a row for a 2 count. Conway used a scoop slam to ground Van Dam and then he went up-top. Conway's splash attempt went amiss and RVD connected with the Rolling Thunder. Both men got to their feet and exchanged blows, RVD taking Conway into the corner and hitting some shoulder thrusts and a monkey flip. Conway struggled to a vertical base, using the ropes to aid himself, but was taken straight back down with a hurricanrana. Dupree distracted the referee as Grenier brought a chair into the ring, but a Van Daminator sorted that problem out. RVD then knocked Dupree off of the apron with a springboard kick. Conway tried to come back with a DDT, but Van Dam reversed it into a northern lights suplex with a bridge for a 2. Conway's final attempt at a comeback was thwarted as RVD blocked a superplex attempt and shoved him to the mat, hitting him with the Five Star Frog Splash to pick up the win.

Van Dam celebrated as he walked back up the ramp. Dupree and Grenier came into the ring, checked on Conway and then began to lecture him again about how bad a wrestler he was. Conway looked ready to lash out, but he kept it in check and walked back up the ramp with Dupree and Grenier shouting at him.

Winner: Rob Van Dam

Match Reaction = 76.3%

Match Quality = 72.0%

Overall Rating = 81.6%

Segment 6: He Quits?!

(5 Minutes)

Returning from another commercial break, we see La Resistance in the locker room. Dupree and Grenier are still shouting at Conway, berating him for losing the match. Conway then stood up from the chair he was sitting in and shoved Dupree and Grenier away. He then told them he had had enough of their lectures and he was leaving La Resistance. Conway stormed out of the room leaving Dupree and Grenier looking baffled.

Overall Rating = 69.8%

Segment 7: Smackdown! Rebound

(2 Minutes)

The Smackdown! Rebound aired and showed mainly last Thursday's main event match between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels, where Kurt Angle aided Eddie in getting the win and then applied the Ankle Lock to HBK following the match. The return of Piper's Pit with WWE Champion John Cena was also shown.

Overall Rating = 80.8%

Segment 8: Shelton Will Play The Game At SummerSlam

(6 Minutes)

Todd Grisham interviewed Triple H backstage, just minutes before his scheduled match with Booker T. Todd asked Triple H his thoughts about facing Booker T, to which The Game replied that Booker T is a gifted athlete, but he's nowhere near the league that Triple H is in. Triple H said Booker was just a warm-up tonight and at SummerSlam Shelton Benjamin would find out what it's like to play The Game. Triple H said he'd defeat Booker tonight, defeat Shelton at SummerSlam and would then re-focus his plans on regaining the World Heavyweight Championship. Todd also asked about Ric Flair, to which The Game told him all he was being asked recently is 'when is Ric Flair coming back?'. Triple H said The Nature Boy would be back on RAW when he's good and ready and that nobody should ask him about it again.

Overall Rating = 83.7%

Segment 9: Booker T vs. Triple H

(15 Minutes)

This bout began with a tie-up in the middle of the ring, Booker T grabbing a headlock but being shot off of the ropes and then hit with an inverted atomic drop. Triple H went to work from here, taking Booker down with numerous clotheslines and then a suplex. The Game continued the attack in the corner with a couple of chops and some hard right hands. Booker caught him off guard, though, and span out of the corner and connected with some knife-edge chops of his own. Booker got on the offensive with a big scoop slam, but his rally was cut short as he missed the Houston Hangover and Triple H was once more back in control. The Game hit a neckbreaker and then came out of the corner with a knee drop for a 2 count. Triple H mocked Booker T by looking at his open hand and shaking his head. This taunting came to cost Triple H as Booker T fought back with some knees to the gut and a swinging neckbreaker. Both men pulled themselves up as the referee's count neared 8 and exchanged punches. Triple H raked Booker's eyes and then hit a facebuster for a near fall. The Game set up his opponent for the Pedigree, but Booker countered with a spinebuster. Triple H got to his feet but was met with a kick to the gut. Booker bounced off of the ropes looking for the Scissors Kick, but Triple H dodged it and connected with the Pedigree. Triple H confidently hooked the leg and the referee counted the 3.

As Triple H was celebrating in the ring, Shelton Benjamin ran down the ramp and into the ring. Triple H took some punches to the head, but was able to slide out under the bottom rope as Shelton went to continue the attack. The Game and Benjamin stared each other down.

Winner: Triple H

Match Quality = 74.1%

Overall Rating = 82.6%

Segment 10: Lita's Meeting With Bischoff

(2 Minutes)

Backstage, we saw Lita enter RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff's 'office'. She demanded that Bischoff give her a match against Trish Stratus for the Women's Title tonight. Bischoff said he would love to do that, but he couldn't because Trish wasn't at RAW tonight. The GM also revealed that Trish Stratus was no longer recognised as the WWE Women's Champion. He said that Trish was unable to defend the title for thirty days - the last time she was on RAW was months ago. Therefore, announced Bischoff, the WWE Women's Title was currently vacant. It's new holder would be decided at SummerSlam, in a match that he would announce next week on RAW. Lita smiled and left the room.

Overall Rating = 68.2%

Segment 11: She's Coming Back

(4 Minutes)

Another video to inform us that Trish Stratus is returning was played. It had the same highlights of her career and ended with the pink scrawl of writing, but this time it said 'Trish Returns... Next Week!'. 'The King' got very excited at the commentary table.

Overall Rating = 77.0%

Segment 12: Main Event

Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

(17 Minutes)

Randy Orton returned to in-ring action to face Chris Benoit in a rematch from last year's SummerSlam, only this time the World Heavyweight Title wasn't on the line. Orton started the match brightly driving some forearms into the jaw of Benoit and then taking him to the mat with a back body drop. Orton continued to dominate the opening minutes, elbowing Benoit into the corner and utilising a dropkick that sent Benoit tumbling through the ropes and out of the ring. Benoit battled back on the outside with some stinging chops, but an Irish whip attempt was reversed and Benoit was sent shoulder-first into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Orton worked on Benoit's shoulder with some unique shoulder holds and a couple of devastating shoulderbreakers which got him a couple of near falls. Benoit fought back and his intensity showed as he relentlessly battered Orton with vicious headbutts and knife-edge chops. After hitting his triple German suplex combo, Benoit went up-top but was shoved off of the top rope by Muhammad Hassan who had rushed down to ringside. The referee hadn't seen the interference. Orton took the time to recuperate and then mocked The Undertaker by grabbing Benoit by the throat, seemingly going for a chokeslam. Benoit countered quickly, though, trapping Orton in the Crossface. Orton could not reach the ropes and tapped the mat furiously. There was no bell though, as Daivari was distracting the referee. This allowed Hassan to slide into the ring and take out Benoit with a brutal shot to the skull with his Intercontinental Title belt. Orton further mocked Undertaker by mimicking his 'cut-throat' action before lifting up Benoit for a Tombstone Piledriver. Benoit managed to wriggle out and reverse it so he was in position to execute the move. Orton, however, managed to slide out of the move and waffle Benoit with the RKO! Orton rolled into the cover and got the 3 count.

After the match, Hassan attacked Benoit. Benoit came back and the two brawled around ringside. Benoit eventually chased Hassan and Daivari away through the crowd. This left Orton celebrating in the ring, but the lights suddenly cut out. The familiar gongs that signal The Undertaker's presence then sounded around the arena and an eerie blue light filled the ringside area. We got a shot of Orton looking scared and dashing out of the ring and into the crowd. The lights returned to normal and we left RAW with the image of Orton, eyes bulging and looking frightened amongst the crowd.

Winner: Randy Orton

Match Reaction = 78.2%

Match Quality = 77.7%

Overall Rating = 89.0%

RAW Rating: 66.5%

Attendance: 6,163

This is such a good diary AD. I discovered it like 3 days ago and had to read through it all because i love your style of writing and your graphics (as everyone at BS forums you know, PLUG) are awesome. Keep this up man, I was going to do a diary from the GAB and onwards but I'm actually enjoying this a little too much to start writing at the moment. Nice work (Y)
