If he didn't play for Chelsea he wouldn't be on the list.

Second, how they play in the national team is also evaluated and not only how they play in their clubs. With that said, Cote D'Ivoire/Ivory Coast/However you call it, are going to their first world cup ever and Drogba is one of the main reasons why they are going.

That wasn't my point. He could've done the same for the Ivory Coast but played for a team like Aston Villa or Birmingham and wouldn't be on the list.

A Birmingham City player must never win such an award, anyway.

I always thought that by adding the likes of Drogba and Okocha, FIFA were merely only doing so to keep the award more international...Much like in the FIFA Young Player Award when Dong Fangzou was nominated.

He had originally said that Nigeria had qualified he was going to retire after the the WC.
