Watched the game on ESPN. Have to admit that my Puerto Rican team played good enough to hopefully make the top 6 in the Olympics.

Team USA needs to adapt , they made many mistakes in transition which will cost them the game aganist Argentina or Spain if they happen again.

Team USA played good team basketball. I'm sure that'll change as soon as Iverson steps on the court though.

...

The Nets would be stupid to trade Jason Kidd...

That's the point. There's really no need to rebuild, especially not from the bottom-up, as would be the case if they got rid of Kidd. They were one win away from advancing to the Eastern conference finals, drastic measures aren't needed. If the Nets get rid of Kidd they'll be mediocre for a very, very long time. At least Kidd/Jefferson and the possibility of additions with capspace next year shows a lot of promise.

Or they can just keep cutting costs and trade away Kidd and Jefferson.

they were 5 minutes late for a 10 minute meeting.

latest pure rumors, not even sure if true is that the Sacramento would be interested in J-Kidd, they would have to send bibby + another player to get Kidd inreturn, but keep this in the back of your head, probably, definatly the furthest possibility.....

Regardless of what I said earlier about keeping Kidd, I'd take Bibby and someone else for Kidd immediately.

Another trade rumor involves the Suns trading Marion for a center.

August 3, 2004 -- Call it win one, lose one for the Knicks.

While Jamal Crawford is expected to join the Knicks as soon as today in a trade with the Bulls, it looks like Isiah Thomas will lose out on another piece he'd hope to bring to the Garden — Antoine Walker.

That's because Walker will be traded tomorrow from the Mavs to the Hawks for Jason Terry and Alan Henderson, a league source revealed.

Walker, a forward, never really fit in during his one year with the Mavs, and was hoping for a deal to either the Sixers (where he'd have been reunited with ex-Celtic coach Jim O'Brien) or the Knicks.

Walker is owed $14.625M in the final year of his contract. Terry, a guard, has $7.5M and $6.6M left over two years, while Henderson, an injury-prone forward, is owed $8.2M for one year.

Well, he can look at the bright side, at least when he scores 25ppg for the Hawks he'll get a fat contract.

August 3, 2004 -- Incoming New Jersey Nets owner Bruce Ratner has been dealt a setback in his quest to buy the team, after several backers suddenly pulled out, The Post has learned.

The investors, most of whom are partners in the investment banking giant Goldman Sachs, bailed out late last week.

"These were the principle guys in the deal," said a Nets insider. "This changes the scorecard significantly."

Ratner had assembled 50-plus investors to help raise the money needed for the purchase.

The exodus comes after multiple delays in finalizing the $300 million deal — which was originally scheduled in June — between Ratner's group and the present Ratner agreed in principle to buy the team last January, with a June 30 deadline to seal the deal. But the NBA Board of Governors has yet to receive the necessary paperwork in order to approve the sale.

"The financing is in place and we're confident that the deal will be closed as anticipated," said spokesman Bruce Bender, executive vice-president of Ratner's development company, Forest City Ratner. owners who are selling their shares.

Meanwhile, Ratner is running the operation as if he's already the official owner. The developer, who wants to construct a new stadium in Brooklyn, has already lowered the team's salary cap from $62 million to $47.5 million.

This could easily turn into a disaster for the NBA.
