I can think of one good reason why the Spirit Squad aren't represented, stable hijinks aside:

Because you really couldn't do it without putting all 5 of them in, and I believe you'd have more people pissed off that they put THOSE FIVE IRRITATING COCKSUCKERS in instead of other people than you do people pissed that they aren't in.

However, I wouldn't really have a problem with it if 3 of the five were Umaga, Khali and Hardcore Gay Porn Holly. Why the hell is Holly even in the game, since he was out with an injury until well after the game's roster was finalized?

Armando hasn't wrestled a single match while he's been on the main roster. Why waste space by putting him in? Yeah, it would be nice, but it's hardly a great loss. As for Sabu, his style (especially in an "Extreme Rules" match) is pretty much impossible to replicate in a WWE game. They could try, but it wouldn't work out using the Smackdown system, in my opinion. And besides, the roster needs to be finalised by a certain point so that THQ can get the game released at the right time of year. Sure, they could delay the release date to keep adding new wrestlers whenever they debut, but then the game would never be released, certainly not in time for Christimas.

So I guess you don't like negativity to this game.

Didn't know that was a crime.

I post rarely on here, usually at night when I can't sleep and I like to make my posts ya know count. Instead of post multiple times like other's prefer, I stick my thoughts in one or two posts usually.

It is a discussion forum afterall.

I suddenly wonder what Mr Ryland thinks about SDvR's GM Mode :shifty:

I thought the 06 version was absolutely awful; not just in execution (which, don't get me wrong, was atrocious), but the actual concepts used seemed rushed and badly thought out. I can usually find at least one positive about most features they've added, but that totally beats me, I've no clue why anybody would find that experience enjoyable.

I haven't actually played 07 yet - from reading everybody's reaction it seems the negatives outweight the positives, so I'm going to wait and get it second hand for a lot cheaper instead - so I can't comment on that GM mode. I did read somewhere that writers and storylines were in this year though, which boggles my mind - if that's legit, then that would sum up what is wrong with Yukes development process to me. The game is meant to treat wrestling as a competitive sport, so adding writers and storylines is a really dumb move, as they're contradicting themselves by admitting that it's scripted (incidentally, does anybody else wonder if the WWE knew that was being added? I don't recall them ever having admitted that writers were involved in the product before?). I've always felt that Yukes seem to be like an excitable kid - I can sort of imagine them having a meeting and somebody saying "how about having writers in the game, it's an insider reference and it'll make the cool kids on the Internet love us", and not having anyone saying "yeah...but it also makes no sense". It's that sort of philosophy that troubles me, as it would explain why they are more interested in simulating sweat drops and adding management modes than doing the dull-but-important stuff like fixing basic AI flaws like tag team partners not working :shifty:

Even suggesting those two is criminal, as they are two of the best to play as in the game.

And Vilge Duin, I do get some of your points, but I also feel like you are nit-picking like Zan said. Especially with the Paul London thing...who cares? They probably have a set amount of time, a set number of people to put in, and face it, at any one time the WWE roster can be huge. There are always going to be people dropped, and whilst I like London, I'd rather have nearly everyone else thats in the game but him.

Neither had Paul Heyman, but he could be used and at least accompanied wrestlers in I do believe Smackdown Vs Raw.

And Heyman was equally pointless in that game. There was no reason for him to be there, at all, and most people didn't even know he was in the game at all.

As for Sabu, that's one of the dumbest excuses I've heard. That's the equivalent of saying Cactus Jack may not as well be in the game. An Extreme Rules match is essentially a hardcore match, a healthy assortment of which can be played in this game.
Watch a Sabu match. Pretty much everything he does is impossible to pull off using the Smackdown engine. The thrown chairs, the springboards off chairs, the improvised aerial offence, the Arabian Facebuster...and if he can't do any of that, why bother putting him in the game at all? You'd only complain that his moveset wasn't accurate.

Aside from Sabu then explain Paul London.

Paul London was, up until the last couple of months, essentially a glorified jobber. Yeah, he'd had the odd decent run, but for the most part he was no great loss. It's a shame he's not in, but at the time the roster was finalised there was little reason for him to be.

The Spirit Squad aren't "any stable", though. They use five-person double teams, trampolines, and all manner of high-jinks that would require drastic re-programming to be able to implement into a Smackdown game. Without those unique aspects that make them the Spirit Squad, there's no reason to put them in the game. Individual Squad members have no appeal, it's only as a whole that there's anything remotely interesting about them, and that can't be achieved using the current game engine. Again, it would be possible to change that, but it would drastically delay the release date, and wouldn't be at all profitable.

No different an excuse as Sabu. You don't need to add any of that to have some form of the Spirit Squad in the game.

But again, why bother putting them in if you can't accurately simulate them? Beyond everything I listed, the Spirit Squad have nothing going for them. No one will want to play as individual Spirit Squad members. It's no different to your longing for the likes of a playable Earl Hebner or Tony Chimmel or whatever, when there's no reason for it.

And there's no appeal to Trevor Murdoch (at least no more than to any of the Spirit Squad members).
Apart from the fact that he's been around longer than the Spirit Squad? Had a fairly high-profile storyline with Ric Flair, was a tag team champion pretty much right off the bat...he has as much reason to be in the game as anyone else.

As Zero said, all you need to change in an NFL game is a name on the back of a shirt, and possibly a slight facial model. Each WWE superstar has individual movesets and mannerisms, and as such will take a lot more to be incorporated into the game.

And I didn't even bring up different sports games, nor are they relevant to me. I don't play them, nor do I care what goes into them.

Yes you did. You made some completely irrelevant comparison to NFL games. That's what I was commenting on.

Individual movesets and entrances are unimportant, as most moves are generally in the game as is (at least used to). Sabu's mannerisms for example. Hell if Goldberg came back to the WWE tomorrow they'd have to make up a character model for him, as everything else related to him is already in the game.
Individual movesets are unimportant? What the fuck are you talking about? Sure, we'll just give Khali a Shooting Star Press. Why not, eh? As long as it looks like him, it's fine, surely? Sabu's mannerisms aren't in the game. His pointing to the sky, his walk, his entrance, none of it. And, as I explained before, the majority of his moves would require drastic changes in the game engine, which would delay the release date, and thus wouldn't happen. And comparing Sabu to Goldberg is inane, seeing as Goldberg was in WWE, and has already been in a Smackdown game, whereas Sabu hasn't. His moves and mannerisms are in the game because they'd already created him for a previous game, they'd have to make Sabu from scratch.

Shock horror, a version of a game on a better console is superior to the version on a lesser console. In other news, Golden Axe doesn't have as good graphics as Metal Gear Solid 2.

You again missed the point. It has nothing to do with graphics.

All I meant was that the 360 (which the vast majority here are playing on) may not have all of the bugs if any that PS2 version has. That isn't a stretch of the imagination, nor does it have anything to do with the power of either console.

Heck, the t-shirt issue is just an example of that.

Graphics was just an example, actually. I was making a point that you can't expect the PS2 version to keep up with the 360 version. The PS2 version is a downgraded version of the game on 360, it's bound to have bugs.

He is one half of the tag champs though, I could understand when he was Velocity fodder, but who's got the belts on the game? The Highlanders?

Obviously the PS2 version has different settings then.

Thanks for the ladder tip Kaney, I managed to spear Kid Kash off the ladder :)

Has anyone else noticed the error in sound in an elimination chamber match? Instead of glass shattering when you whip someone into a chamber you get the electrocution noise for some reason.

Another question about ladder matches. How do you do different moves off the top of the ladder? When you use a finishing move there you do a suplex if you just press LB, but I've done a neckbreaker with Kid Kash before. Again, I can't remember how I did it :P

I think it's to do with weightclasses. I've seen Kash do the neckbreaker, and he's a cruiserweight, but people like RVD do suplexes and they're heavyweights. I might be wrong because Khali is the only ultraweight and all he does is a suplex, but I haven't seen any character specific moves off the ladder yet. I dunno if the Swanton Bomb, or Walls of Jericho are still available.

Do we have our own fed/tournament set up? What about a title? Hell, do we even have a list of who's got the game for what system? Or do I have to fish through the last 10 pages in search of said information?

As far as I'm aware, you, Zero, Gongsun, Lint6 and myself have it for the 360, and you're the only one I haven't played yet (hint hint). Dunno about the PS2 users >_>

I'll kick all your asses when I get a wireless adaptor. Hopefully it's soon :(

I have a wireless adapter that I can't use because I don't have a wireless router. Name a price :shifty:

You don't see Terrell Owens missing from NFL games do you?

For the most part, you've made some points and I can respect them and even agree to an extent to avoid repeating ourselves. However, I take issue with what was quoted above. No, you don't see T.O. missing from an NFL game, you also don't see Triple H or John Cena missing from a WWE game. Those are major stars. Paul London or the Spirit Squad being missing isn't a glaring omission like T.O. would be from an NFL game.

Bwahaha, HIAC is awesome.

Zan and I ended up on top of the cell after I'd already chokeslammed him off. I ran at him and attempted a spear but he tried grabbing me at the same time. The result? I miss and fly off the edge, and he somehow gets lonely and jumps off after me. We both die. Unintentional hilarity.

Ok, so I finally got the game, and I've enjoyed it thus far.

I only did one match which was Finlay (me) vs. Trevor Murdoch. Even in the facial expressions with these two guys, it felt real, just watching them stare each other down with these fucking nasty scowls made it feel like the real thing.

I can't believe so many people bitched about the new grapple system, I love it thus far. I thought it was easy to get the hang of, I just was smart enough to watch the tutorial before I started playing. That helped a lot.

Like hell I am. I was going to chokeslam you after powerboming Zan, and then I couldn't stop Mysterio running because of the lag. By the time I pressed Y he'd already stopped, so I started again >_<
