I need some good "I Just Got Dumped" Music

Recommended Posts

Well...this has gone downhill.

You've posted here long enough that this should not be a shock to you.

And obviously the answer to this thread is "Song for the Dumped" by Ben Folds Five.

You ain't kidding... that song is great therapy, especially since that bitch still has my black t-shirt.

Most of NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" is great to take you through all your emotions in one sitting, helped me out a lot. Oh and if you guys had songs together, those are always good to listen to for the wanting to blow your brains out phase. I feel your pain brother, bitches ain't shit but hos and tricks, remember that.

"Hurt" (Both the NIN version and the Johnny Cash version) These along with the album "Life Is Killing Me" by Type O Negative work great if you're in a kind of depressed yet pissed off phase.

The Cure.

Thread over.

As Heel Turn said, The Cure. As well as that, I'd recommend some mid-90's Depeche Mode...moody, introspective...not necessarily about relationships, but usually pretty bitter with it.

The Smiths are good....stuff like "I Know It's Over", "How Soon Is Now?" and "Girlfriend In A Coma" amongst others cover the bitterness or sarcastic takes on it.

Hope all goes well, man.

To offer a serious suggestion, try some Glassjaw. Motel of the White Locust is a great start. They are so angry it is almost scary, especially when you hear the contrast of the lead singer's other project the much much lighter electric group Head Automatica.

Hotel of the White Locust Lyrics... Probably the most brutal, intense and rage laced lyrics ever.

Welcome to Hollywood Girl

My dance has passed.

Welcome to Hollywood girl.

Wake the fuck up in Hollywood whore.

Combine the throbbin' in my head

with the rhythm of my fucking feet.

Say a novena for all those lost

and read the bloodstains on the sheets.

I've whored myself for less than this

and I've prayed to appear to fed.

As I knelt on my pillow God,

I clenched the fucking fists and banged my head.

Who could ever..

Who the fuck could ever..

Take the place of me? [x2]

Now I kiss up to God my fists

and I pray to keep my head

though I like your pretty eyes better blackened

and my fists all fucking red.

Through sickness and health,

I've kissed up to God two years, I have focused..

On the cameos made by the tiger in the valley of the fucking locust.

Who could ever..

Who the fuck could ever..

Take the place of me?

Who could ever..

Who the fuck could ever..

No one can the place of me?

Wipe...

Wipe off your mouth.

Get up off your knees and make me your god.

Who could ever,

Who the fuck could ever?

It's sexual debauchery you fucking cunt, you fucking whore,

You cost what you're worth.

Followed by a boy like this,

Reignited by all your visits.

As long as your mouth is shut you'll still be fuckin beautiful.

Pack your shit and leave, and take my memories of her with you.

(I don't need to know) [x10]

...And take her fucking with you

I second Liam's love of The Smiths and HT's Cure recommendations. They'll see you through no worries.

"Instant Pleasure" by Rufus Wainwright will make you rue the day you were ever foolish enough to go into a monogomous relationship in the first place, as it shows casual sex > *.

"Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap is good for the delicate parts of the crying phase, as is most of her newest album actually.

"Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream if you can decipher the weirdness.

"Cosmopolitan" by Nine Black Alps for the angry phase.

OBLIGATORY RK MUSIC THREAD BOB DYLAN REFERENCE:

"Like a Rollin' Stone" all the way. Learn the words, and try to sneer like he does when you sing along. You'll be burning effigies of her in no time.

And if all else fails...

"Heroin" by the Velvet Underground

Hide and Seek is definitely good, OC overtones ignored. Big fan of Instant Pleasure as well.

Amos Lee's 'Soul Suckers' is a great, sad song - although it's not about heartbreak.
