This is the only time I'm going to say this, but Go Habs as well as Go Leafs. I want Both Canadian teams to make it into the Playoffs. While I'll always dislike the toronto media and fanbase for being so obnoxious, I'd rather see Toronto in than some bumfuck team like Carolina, or Both New York franchises.

There was a point during that game when Toronto was down 1-0 or 2-1, Carolina was winning and both New York teams were winning. It looked to be an awful night for Toronto. Now Montreal is in the lead over the Islanders, the Senators came back late to win against the Rangers and Toronto managed to get the two points. If Montreal can hold on to their current two goal lead, Toronto will be one point behind 8th and 7th.

Deliberate. Cowen went on a four game goalscoring streak, and in the last game someone threw a bra on the ice in celebration.

What a fucking disgraceful performance by the Hawks again. 1-7 in San Jose. Aucoin and Cullimore are totally useless and should never E-E-E-EVER see NHL ice... again.

Lalime was crap, too. Cam Barker... the list goes on. Everyone was so bad it was embarrassing. I blame Savard, too - you just don't ALLOW such a performance on the ice. The team just wasn't prepared to play. Shots were 16-2 Fish after first.

And dammit, Koci couldn't even find a dance partner. Stupid Rainbow Trouts...

...Okay?

Pittsburgh did everything it could to move the Penguins. The Mellon Arena is the oldest and one of the worst arenas in the NHL, falling into disrepair to the point where, because of it's low quality as an arena, it loses a massive amount of money each year. This has been true since the late ninties, and coming out of the lockout everyone knew the team needed a new arena, but no one from the city was willing to pony up the cash. In terms of capacity, it's the third smallest arena in the NHL, with only Rexall Place and Nassau Coliseum holding less seating for hockey. Both of those cities are planning new arenas. In addition, the Rangers and Devils are both making ground towards new arenas. That means that of the 5 teams in their division, only the Penguins and state rival Flyers weren't working on a new arena at the start of this season.

The city of Pittsburgh didn't screw over the team by passing the casino liscense to someone other then the group that vowed to build an arena, since their bid wasn't really outstanding, but they passed up an oppurtunity to definitively say "we want this team!" by not approving that bid. (Not to mention that an arena in your town creates far more revenue for a city then a casino, in general) In addition, each successive bid to the NHL included less and less public funding, demanding more and more funding from the team and a higher reliance on ungauranteed casino profits. The smart move for the NHL, when this deal started getting messy (back before the Isle of Capris decision) was to hedge bets towards moving the team, but they never did that. Because of that, the city felt they were in a position to lowball... that's not what a "hockey city" does if they're on the verge of losing a team.

The deal the Penguins could have had in Kansas City, where I believe they would play in the building for next to nothing, was just too good and it seems almost retarded that the team didn't move when they did not get the Isle of Capri deal.

Pittsburgh was doing the same thing, if not worse in the 80's, Mario saved the franchise. Crosby is doing the same thing now, if you need a superstar to save your franchise, you're not a hockey city.

Also, Kostitsyn's assist on the last Habs goal, a work of art.
