WWF No Way Out 2002

Broadcast on Sunday, 10th February 2002 from the Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The scene is set and the crowd are ready. We are only one month away from Wrestlemania; the place where dreams comes true and names are made; it’s the granddaddy of them all! But tonight…tonight is not about fame and fortune…tonight is about survival. For some, it’s all about pride. While for others…its all about reliving that former glory. Tonight…everyone faces there demons….and there is NO WAY OUT!

“The World Wrestling Federation, sponsored by Stacker 2, presents WWF No Way Out!”

Pyros go off in the arena as “Signs” by Creed blares through the PA system. Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to the show and what a hellacious show it plans to be! We’ve got a WWF Championship Handicap Match pitching The Rock against the British Bulldog and Vince McMahon as well as a Three Stages of Hell Match between Test and The Undertaker; the first fall will be a singles match; the second a street fight; and if by this point, the two can not be separated, the match will then be decided in nothing less than an ambulance match. (wow!)

MATCH 1

We kick off the night with a singles match between Edge and Lance Storm, Edge making his way to the ring to a good response from the crowd. Edge looks pumped up for his match tonight and he should be as his current form has not been desirable. Edge climbed into the ring and saluted the fans that have been nothing short of incredible to Edge as he goes through this tough period of time. Storm’s music followed and Lance Storm took his time, making sure to taunt each and every fan as he got to the ring. When Storm arrived at the bottom of the ramp, he circled the ring looking at Edge, Edge careful not to break eye contact, before Storm entered the ring and the two men went toe to toe. It was time for the referee to explain the rules.

Non-Title Match

Edge vs. Lance Storm

Storm and Edge locked up in the ring and both men tried to impose their strength on the match but neither was able to overcome the other. Edge did try and put lock the head of Storm but Storm countered and went for a suplex attempt only to be elbowed away by Edge. Both men separated once more and stared at each other before locking up for a second time. Storm eventually made some headway taking advantage with a kick to the gut before driving Edge into the corner. Storm let loose on Edge delivering some stiff right hands before sending him into the ropes and sending Edge to the mat with a drop kick.

Edge got back to his feet and immediately was sent into the ropes for a second time, Storm going for a back body drop but Edge held onto the ropes, kicking Storm into the chest before taking him down with a swinging neckbreaker, Edge getting two from the cover. Storm was sent into the corner of the ring before being hit with a shoulder tackle, Edge making use of the turnbuckle to plant Storm with a missile drop kick. Edge made another cover but he only got the two. The crowd thought Edge had it! Edge hit Storm with a vertical suplex before heading up to the top rope for a second time. Edge tries to hit Storm with an elbow drop but Storm rolls out of the way, Edge colliding hard with the ground. Storm then nearly takes the match with the shining wizard but Edge gets the shoulder up and the match continues.

Storm locks in an arm bar on Edge and torques the arm but Edge grabs the bottom rope but this doesn’t stop Storm who continues a vicious assault on the back of Edge landing some hard elbows to the back of the big chinned Canadian. Storm pulls Edge to the centre and goes for the Boston Crab but Edge quickly counters the move into a roll up, Storm lucky to survive another pinning attempt, getting back to his feet and dropping Edge with a raised knee. Storm hits Edge with a backbreaker and then goes for another cover but once again gets a 2. Storm must be getting frustrated now!

Storm mounts Edge and delivers some fists before busting Edge’s eye open but fails to land the elbow drop Edge moving out of the way. Both men get back to their feet but Edge drops Storm time after time with a short armed clothesline before suffering a huge back drop. Edge then plants Storm with the downward spiral but Storm somehow gets the shoulder up! Edge tries to lock in a sharpshooter but Storm manages to get out of the hold with some stiff kicks but doesn’t avoid the sit out rear mat slam. Edge gets back to his feet and signals for end and crouches in the corner as Storm gets to his feet. Edge goes for the Spear but Storm moves and Edge crashes into the turnbuckle! That was damn close! Edge’s shoulder must have been hurting but not as much as the super kick from Storm that followed! It has to be over 1...2.NO! Edge somehow manages to get the shoulder up! Storm has both hands on his head!

Storm gets back to his feet and kicks Edge down some more before going for the boston crab for a second time, this time locking the hold in and Edge looks in desperate pain. Edge crawls across the floor to get to the ropes but Storm pulls him back. Will Edge tap? Edge is trying! Oh he’s trying…and he makes the ropes! Storm looks furious and stiff kicks Edge in the back dropping him. Storm isn’t finished though and raises Edge back up hitting him with more shots, reopening that cut on his eye that seemed to have stopped bleeding. Storm goes for a vertical suplex but Edge somehow counters and hits Storm with a second sit out rear mat slam. Edge somehow gets back to his feet holding his face. SPEAR BY EDGE! Edge hooks the leg………..1………2…………3. Edge takes the match!

Winner - Edge

Edge gets back to his feet bloodied and battered but it doesn’t stop him celebrating this victory! Where will Edge go from here?

YOU KNOW YOU COULD WIN IT RIGHT?

We head backstage to see the British Bulldog chatting to some random woman who seems to be making the final adjustments to his wrestling attire for the match tonight when The Rock comes into picture and the crowd goes wild. Bulldog looks very apprehensive but The Rock tells him to cool down as he didn’t come to have a fight; he just wanted to have a chat…man to man. Bulldog tries to be the tough man and tells the Rock that doesn’t want to hear whatever The Rock has to say but The Rock begs to differ. The Rock brings up the match; a handicap match; WWF Championship on the line, and from what The Rock gathers, the British Bulldog intends to help Vince McMahon become Champion. But why help Vince McMahon become champion when he could become the WWF Champion himself. Hell, all it would take is the British Bulldog to pin The Rock. The Rock promises the British Bulldog that his relationship with Vince might smell of roses now but sooner or later, Vince is going to know longer have any use for him and do the same as he has done to everyone else and dump him for his own selfish purposes. The Rock says he’ll see him in the ring later tonight after he’s had a chance to think about what he’s said and Bulldog definitely looks concerned. Has The Rock got inside Bulldog’s head?

ARE THEY HERE #1?

Further backstage we are joined by Michael Cole who tells us that he is pumped to be a part of such a huge PPV offering. Cole explains that he is on the WWF’s DX watch out in the parking area and that so far there have been no sign of DX so far. Cole promises that as soon as he hears something, he will get right back to us! We can hardly wait Cole!

MATCH 2

We return to the ring moments away from our second match of the night and it’s going to be the Women’s Title Match between the Champion Trish, Jazz and Daffney Unger.

Daffney Unger is the first to the ring wearing whole new black ring attire and she looks pumped for this match. Daffney severely taunts some of the young lads in the front row asking them if they like what they see before getting into the ring and raising her arms aggressively. This woman is insane! Next up is the She-Beast Jazz who tells the audience exactly who is back (“the bitch” apparently) before making her way to the ring and gets right in the face of Daffney who doesn’t look to be backing down. The referee tries to cool down the atmosphere as our third contestant Trish makes her way down to ringside. Trish is in for one hell of a fight tonight and she knows it!

A Triple Threat Women’s Title Match

Trish Stratus © vs. Jazz vs. Daffney Unger

Trish and Jazz focus on each at the start, Trish quick to point out the stalking Unger moments before she attacks Jazz from behind knocking her down to the ground. Daffney screams about respect to Jazz stomping down on the female athlete before slinging her into the corner and choking her with her boot. Trish makes the save but Daffney responds with an elbow before unleashing some right hands on her. Unger kicks Trish into the gut before sending her out of the ring before being levelled by Jazz, Jazz not intimidated by Daffney one bit. Jazz grabs hold of Daffney and tosses her across the ring by her hair and then stomping away on her with her big feet. Jazz quickly slams Daffney down hard with a running powerslam before making the cover but Unger is no way ready to hand in her days work yet.

Jazz gets back to her feet and knocks Trish back off the apron before returning to Daffney only to get a rake to the eyes. Daffney sticks the boot into Jazz, Jazz seething with pain before Daffney uses on of her trademark throws, dropping Jazz to the mat like a rag doll creating some whip lash before dropping her with a leg drop. Daffney then hits Trish on the outside with a baseball slide knocking her to the ground and taking her once more out of the picture. Daffney hits a standing moonsault on Jazz but only gets the two from the cover indicating that the bitch is still in the match. Daffney chucks Jazz out to the other side of the ring before going after Trish and begins to beat down the blond bombshell on the outside.

Daffney has shown over the past few weeks that every object around her can be used as a lethal weapon and today was no exception using every object around her to perfection. First, she used the steel post to crack Trish’s head against before sending her straight into the steps. JR comments that a woman’s body shouldn’t have to go through this pressure and JR is damn right! This is not right! Daffney really gets the crowd going after she hits Trish with a stiff Russian leg sweep into the barricade, Trish screaming with agony on the impact. Daffney gets back to her feet cockily but is unable to gloat from her punishment, Jazz sending her to sleep with a huge clothesline but seems more intent on continuing on Trish sending her back to the ring.

Jazz mounts Trish in the ring and beats her down with some right fists. Boy that Jazz is a mean customer! Jazz locks in the Jazz Stretch on Trish, Trish now in some dear pain, Jazz dropping Trish to the mat like a rag doll. Trish tries to get back to her feet but Jazz kicks her hard in the head and knocks Trish straight back down. But wait! Daffney is back in the ring and she hits Jazz with a huge hurricanranna. Jazz and Daffney both get back to their feet but it is Daffney who takes advantage dropping Jazz with multiple clotheslines before kicking her to the gut and going for the jumping DDT only to be countered by Jazz who then responds with a huge forearm smash. What the hell is Jazz doing now? Jazz just ripped off Daffney’s top off! Daffney quickly rolls out of the ring covering herself up and she looks incredibly pissed off the fans on the other hand delighted with Jazz’s actions! But all actions have consequences and Jazz paid the price of these ones, when Trish came up from behind and rolled up the ECW Alumnus steeling the win right from beneath her nose! Trish is still Champion!

Winner and Still WWF Women’s Champion Trish Stratus

YOU KNOW WHAT? EVERYTHING ISN’T COOL!

Next up is another backstage segment and this one is with the Coach and Mr. PPV, Rob Van Dam. The Coach asked Rob about how this match has come about and what his feelings are going into this match and Van Dam has a lot to say. RVD says that over the past year, his Wrestling Career has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Van Dam believes that for years, many ECW fans said that Rob Van Dam was something special, something unique and something that one day would be the ECW Champion. But for RVD, that day never came. RVD never reached the goal. ECW closed and Van Dam said that he thought his career may have been over. But then, out of the darkness came a glimmer of hope. Granted, it was a short term deal but a deal nonetheless. The World Wrestling Federation; the place, supposedly, where all the top men go and he knew he was up for the challenge…And just like that, RVD was stealing the spotlight having the best matches’ night in night out and making his way to the Main Event of the WWF. Van Dam felt that somewhere, between Survivor Series and now, he must have lost his way because somehow, RVD went from hero to zero just over night! Van Dam says that with this in mind, he wants to know why the hell Kurt Angle feels that he is the cause that Angle is not in the Main Event of No Way Out. Van Dam says that we all know the reason why he’s not the main event of Wrestlemania and it certainly isn’t because of him. Just ask the fans! Van Dam promises to show Kurt tonight just exactly why he is where he is and why he is called Mr. PPV! Van Dam vs. Angle is NEXT!

MATCH 3

Kurt Angle is the first to make his way to the ring ignoring taunts from the crowd, opting to remain focused and not get drawn into any unnecessary fights. Kurt knows that with just one month to Wrestlemania, any slip ups tonight could mean having no match at Wrestlemania and Kurt Angle just can’t afford to be dropped from a card like that! Next up was Rob Van Dam and he didn’t waste anytime making his entrance, his music starting up as soon as Angle stepped foot in the ring. Van Dam looked ready and with that in mind, so are we.

Non-Title Match

Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle

Van Dam gets in the ring and immediately takes control of the attack blocking Angle’s strikes but connecting with his own; Van Dam drops Angle to the group with a spinning heel kick. Van Dam quickly mounts the Olympic Gold Medallist and let’s loose with some right hands, Angle helpless to the attack. Van Dam continues the assault dropping Angle with a springboard leg drop before going for the cover but Angle manages to kick out, Angle then opting to roll to the outside to regroup.

Van Dam however had a different perspective of things and quickly followed Angle attacking him clubbing him from behind, keeping on top of things. Van Dam threw Angle head first into the steel steps before dropping Angle with a Russian leg sweep. Van Dam sends Angle back into the ring before hitting him with a standing moonsault before going for a second cover attempt, Angle once again kicking out on the two.

Van Dam sends Angle into corner of the ring before going for a splash attempt but Angle gets out of the way and Van Dam lands hard into the post instead. Van Dam stumbles out and walks straight into an over the head belly to belly suplex by Angle. Kurt Angle does not look pleased and quickly drops to the ground and begins to choke Van Dam with his arm. Angle sends Van Dam some stiff shots to the back of the head before hitting Van Dam with a baseball slide to the face, Angle going for a cover but only getting the 2 like Van Dam had previously.

Angle sends Van Dam right back into the corner before clubbing Van Dam hard over the back with some fists. Angle went for a German Suplex but Van Dam landed on his feet and hit Angle with a rear sit down mat slam. Van Dam hooked leg but Angle kicked out with ease. Van Dam however didn’t give up and immediately got back to his feet and hit Angle with a drop kick sending him back down to the mat before attempting another cover but Angle again kicked out.

Van Dam stomped down on Angle before attempting the rolling thunder but Angle got his knees up. That must have hurt! Angle got back to his feet and hit Van Dam with a triplet of German Suplexes. Angle decided that this would be a good time to cover but Van Dam wasn’t going to give up just yet. Angle brought Van Dam back to his feet and delivered huge uppercuts to Van Dam before hitting him with another German Suplex. What was Angle going to do now? He’s climbing up top! No Kurt, this isn’t a good idea! He’s going for a moonsault and he connects! Angle must have it……..1………..2…………Van Dam somehow gets the shoulder up! My God!

Angle looked in pain but it didn’t stop him dropping the straps of his one-piece. Here comes the Ankle lock! Will Van Dam tap? Van Dam gets to the ropes but Angle quickly pulls him back and keeps the Ankle Lock locked in. Van Dam is crawling back to the ropes…can he make it? Rob Van Dam is nearly there but Angle is putting up a fight, wait Van Dam turns the Ankle Lock into a roll up…..1………2……….3 Rob Van Dam wins!

Winner – Rob Van Dam

Van Dam gets back to his feet to celebrate but Angle halts the festivities taking Van Dam’s head off with a sickening forearm smash. Angle beats down hard on the back of RVD before locking in the Ankle Lock once again twisting the Ankle for all its worth. Rob Van Dam is seething in pain and tapping over and over again but Angle isn’t listening. He wants to break that Ankle. Angle has the lock in for all of a minute and a half before road agents and security come to the ring to break up the lock. Angle will not want to end things here! You can be sure this feud is no way near over!

ARE THEY HERE? #2

We join Michael Cole backstage for a second time tonight and he says that there is still no sign of DX but he has it on good authority that DX will turn up soon! Enter the Dudley Boyz into the segment. Bubba Ray says that he can’t believe that everyone in the World Wrestling Federation is surprised that DX haven’t shown up. After all, DX didn’t turn up at OVW! DX didn’t respond to any of their challenges and it looks like DX are going to do the same again tonight. D-Von continues telling Michael Cole that it’s simple….DX are scared of the Dudley Boyz because they know, as soon as they step into the ring with the very best tag team in WWF history, DX are going to get their asses kicked! Bubba says that it’s just a shame that all of their finds have to find out that their heroes are such cowards in this sort of way. “OH MY BROTHER! TESTIFY!!!!!!!” Stay tuned to find out the latest developments.

MATCH 4

We cut to video the revisits the past month’s war between the WWF Hardcore Champion Key and the #1 Contender for the WWF Hardcore Title, Sabu showcasing some of the vicious battles over the past few weeks.

WWF Hardcore Championship Match

Key © (w/Charles Wright) vs. Sabu

Prior to the PPV match up, many would have not fancied the chances of Key walking out with the WWF Hardcore Championship and the start of this match must have summed up their fears. In what seemed an unusual fashion, Key and Charles Wright made their way to the ring first, looking more like the challenger than the challenger himself. The fans didn’t like Key and they made it clear. Sabu however got a huge response from the crowd, the suicidal homicidal genocidal death defying superstar walking down to the ring at a slow space, pointing to the sky at more than one occasion.

Sabu and Key locked up in the middle of the ring and Key gained dominance in the opening seconds using his power advantage accordingly driving Sabu into the corner. Key unleashed a fury of right and left hands before sending Sabu into the opposite corner but Sabu climbed up the turnbuckle before dropping Key with an elbow smash. Both men got to their feet but Sabu took advantage sending Key into the ropes before hitting him with a dropsault before hitting Key with a leg drop before returning to his feet to point to the sky some more.

Sabu climbs out of the ring and brings a couple of chairs to the ring as well as some traffic signs. Sabu smashes a huge stop sign over the back of Key bending it in two before hitting him with an atomic Arabian facebuster Sabu going for the cover but Key somehow managing to get the shoulder up. Sabu throws the stop sign to the back of the head of Key before grabbing back hold of the WWF Hardcore Champion, Charles Wright screaming orders to him but there is nothing he can do. Sabu sends Key into the corner of the ring before cracking him with a clothesline, Sabu quickly following up the move with a springboard moonsault, Sabu unlucky not to get the three with the move. Sabu goes for a steel chair and swings back over his head but Charles Wright somehow gets into the ring and recovers the chair pulling it away from Sabu and Sabu is not happy! Sabu turns and Wright tries to throw the chair at Sabu like he does with so many opponents but Sabu catches it with ease and throws it right back into the face of Wright. The “ECW” chants are here at No Way Out!

Sabu turns around and walks straight into a low blow from Key, the Hardcore Champion doing whatever he can to get back some possession in this match. Key gets back to his feet and delivers some huge kicks into the chest of the challenger before choking him down the grip so tough that you can see the marks on his neck. Key hits Sabu with a facebuster before hitting the challenger with some hard shots to the back of the head. Key gets out of the ring and pulls out from under the ring some kitchen utensils including a fork! Key gets into the ring and takes a leaf out of Abdullah the Butcher raking the face of the ECW alumnus busting him open before hitting him with a Canadian backbreaker. Key must have thought he had the win but he only got the two! Sabu was really fortunate there!

Key grabs hold one of the chairs that Sabu brought in the ring before hitting Sabu with a taste of his own medicine, landing the triple jump leg drop to the ECW Alumnus before hooking the leg, Sabu once again getting the shoulder up. Key bashes Sabu head hard against the floor before getting to the taunt and telling the crowd that he’s the best. But tonight, Key proved exactly where arrogance can get you taking too long with the continuation and ending up missing the elbow drop from Sabu. Key tried to make up from his mistake but Sabu was too quick and he fought back with some right hand shots before dropping Key with a shoulder drop. Key then got hit with a back body drop. Sabu has gone insane.

Sabu gets out of the ring and goes under it for a table but Charles Wright halts his progress attacking him from behind. Wright attacked him with some powerful clubbing blows before attempting to send him into the steel steps but Sabu reversed it and Wright went knees first into them. Sabu quickly set up the wooden table before getting hit with a baseball slide by Key. Key climbed out of the ring and threw Sabu head first into the ring barricade before scoop slamming him onto the turnbuckle. Key was vicious and wasn’t going to stop there throwing Sabu through the table with a Crucifix Powerbomb. Key hooked the leg of Sabu through the wreckage but Sabu wasn’t dead yet! JR was stunned!

Key couldn’t believe his luck and quickly recruited the assistance of the battered and bruised Charles Wright, Key whipping Sabu into a forearm smash from Wright. Wright sends Sabu back into the ring while Key climbs in and Key gets right back to work beating Sabu with some more boots before dragging him to his feet. Key nearly gets a pin with a result of a twist o whirl backbreaker but Sabu once again gets the shoulder up. Key screams out in frustration, he can’t believe it sending in yet more boots in before climbing up to the top rope and going for a moonsault but Sabu gets the knees up and both men end up down on the ground. Charles Wright is flipping out.

The referee starts the count out and both men start to get back to their feet brawling with each other, Sabu managing to some how block a couple of Key’s shots but all of his shots do connect. Sabu then drops Key before using Key’s body as a replacement chair to hit the triple jump moonsault on him. Sabu covered Key but Charles Wright somehow managed to break up the pin. Wright locked in the chicken wing and tried to slam Sabu but Sabu fought out before clearing Wright from the ring with a clothesline but Key was ready and waiting for him quickly hitting the Victimizer! Key made the cover and got the vital win! Key was lucky to win this match!

Winner and still WWF Hardcore Champion Key

Key wastes no time after the match and quickly grabs hold of his WWF Hardcore Championship departing from the arena with his Manager Charles Wright as Sabu gets back to his feet in the middle of the ring. Sabu put up a hell of a fight here tonight and the crowd show their appreciation clapping for the newest WWF Superstar a few “ECW” chants breaking through.

WRESTLEMANIA X8

We head off to the first of many Wrestlemania advertisements over the forthcoming weeks. Wrestlemania is the next WWF PPV and it’s on the 10th of March from Toronto, Ontario, Canada! It’s the Grand Daddy of them All Folks!

MATCH 5

We head back to JR and Tazz who are building up our next match and it’s a huge one folks! It’s the WWF Championship Handicap Match pitching The Rock against Vince McMahon and The British Bulldog! Can Vince become a 3 time WWF Champion. Let the showcasing begin!

2-on-1 Handicap Match for the WWF Championship

The Rock © vs. Vince McMahon and The British Bulldog

Vince McMahon hits the ring first and he’s wearing his black ring attire flexing his muscles at the entrance ramp before making his to the ring ignoring any crowd reaction. Bulldog quickly joins him and gets a small pop from the crowd despite going against the People’s Champion here tonight. The British Bulldog had a confrontation earlier tonight with the WWF Champion, The Rock telling Bulldog that he in fact could become the WWF Champion if he decided to look out for himself rather than Vince. JR and Tazz wonder if The Rock had got into the head of the Bulldog but he looks relatively fine. Bulldog gets into the ring and shakes the hand after saluting a few of the fans, the two of them ready for their opponent. When the Rock’s popular catchphrase hit the arena, the crowd got to their feet and cheered with passion as the WWF Champion, The Rock made his way to the ring holding on tightly to that WWF title belt. The Rock climbed into the ring and began to salute the fans, Vince quickly leaving the ring but Bulldog remained staring strongly at that title belt adding to the intrigue moments before kick off.

Vince got back into the ring and he and Bulldog discussed who were going to start the match up, Bulldog evidently feeling the urge to start while Vince felt he should be the one. Vince poked Bulldog in the chest calling him “the back up” before Bulldog pushed him back saying that he was “the essential element”. To the Rock however, they were both targets and The Rock unleashed on both men sending punches to both superstars before sending the British Bulldog out of the ring and taking Vince’s head off with a huge clothesline. Vince got back to his feet and was immediately sent into the corner, The Rock following up with some more right hands before whipping him into the opposite corner Vince crashing hard with the collision before walking out into a stiff back body drop.

Bulldog returned to the ring and attacked The Rock with a clubbing blow before tossing him to the mat like he was a rag doll. The referee wanted Bulldog out of the ring right now but Bulldog told Vince to give him the tag and Vince obliged, Bulldog entering the match. The British Bulldog hit The Rock with a big vertical suplex before going for the cover but The Rock quickly kicked up, Bulldog then mounting the WWF Champion and beating The Rock with some hard firsts. Bulldog dragged The Rock over to his corner and tagged back in Vince McMahon, Vince quickly stomping away on the Champ before hitting him with an elbow drop and hooking the leg but The Rock kicked out again. Vince bodyslammed The Rock before posing for the crowd like he’d lifted a metric tonne but whatever the case, Vince was on top.

Vince tagged Bulldog back into the match and Bulldog responded with a boot to the face of the people’s champion before clamping on an arm bar Bulldog showing no mercy to the man that showed him the light earlier in the night. The Rock shuffled to the ropes but that didn’t stop the Englishman, attacking the Rock’s lower back with some hard elbows before dragging him to the centre and hitting him with a huge facebuster. The British Bulldog went for the cover but he only got a two, Vince McMahon having a look of concern on his face. Nevertheless, Vince was tagged back in and Vince hit The Rock with another body slam before The Rock was hit with a knee drop to the midsection, Vince this time going for a cover but for the 2 nonetheless. Vince continued with a sleeper. The Rock was being dominated and he needed to pull something out of the bag here as the energy seemed to drain out of him from the hold. Was The Rock out? The referee checked his arms but he still showed signs of life. The Rock suddenly found an energy surge and began to send right hands to Vince but Bulldog quickly dropped him with a huge club to the back, Vince going straight back for the sleeper hold.

Vince taunted The Rock telling him such things as his time was over and that the title would be his but through it all, The Rock never lost hope. Once again The Rock found strength in the hold and began to get back to his feet. Right hands were sent once more to Vince but The Rock this time avoided the Bulldog taking him down with a shot too. This time, The Rock was free and he was going crazy. Clothesline to Vince. Clothesline to Bulldog. Next was a Big Back Body drop on Vince followed by a spinebuster on the Bulldog. The Rock was taunting Vince and he hit him with the Rockbottom the crowd going insane! The Rock hooked Vince’s leg and the referee began to count…….1………..2…………Bulldog broke up the count! That was close! The British Bulldog hit Rock with another vertical suplex before following up with an elbow drop taking the wind out of The Rock.

Bulldog brought the The Rock back to his feet and attempted to send him into the corner but was countered sending The Bulldog in instead. Bulldog responded with a boot to the face to The Rock before dropping him with a clothesline. Bulldog then dropped The Rock with a DDT; how unfortunate is this that if this had been a one on one match, The British Bulldog may have just won the match! Bulldog drags Vince over The Rock and the count begins but Bulldog then decides to pull Vince off! What the hell is going on here? Bulldog gets Vince back to his feet and Vince wants to know what the hell is happening but Bulldog tells him he wants to be tagged in but Vince refuses! Vince pushes Bulldog and Bulldog retaliates but The Rock latches onto Vince and goes for the roll up but Bulldog thankfully makes the save and the match continues, Vince climbing out of the mess and dropping The Rock with a clothesline.

The referee started to get heavily involved in the match pulling Bulldog away from the scene and telling him either to tag himself in or stay out of the match. Vince on the other hand demanded help and Bulldog was caught in between a rock and a hard place. Vince tried to take control looking in the devastating chin lock of doom The Rock but The Rock was having none of it. Rock used elbows and all to get out of the hold but Bulldog came rushing back in and there came an almighty collision, The Rock dodging a clothesline attempt that ended up crashing into the referee. Bulldog’s day got bad to worse The Rock hitting Bulldog out of the ring with a clothesline before hitting Vince McMahon with a spinebuster! HERE IT COMES! THE PEOPLE’S ELBOW! The Rock connects and hooks the leg of Vince but the referee is out! The Rock gets back to his feet but then gets hit with the WWF Title belt. My God! The British Bulldog just hit The Rock with the WWF Title! Bulldog pulled Vince McMahon over The Rock and shook the referee! No it can’t be! No……………….1……………………………2…………………………….3 Vince McMahon has won the match!

Winner and NEW WWF Champion, Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon can’t believe it! Bulldog gets him back to his feet and Vince McMahon looks like he is about to cry with joy. Shame that joy quickly turned to sadness when Jerry Lawler made his entrance to the ring! Lawler didn’t waste any time with intros Lawler quick to point out that while the referee did not see what happened prior to the three, he did and as he is the Co-Owner of the World Wrestling Federation, Lawler felt it was in the interest of fairness to disqualify Vince McMahon and Bulldog for their foul play and as a result, the WWF title would remain on The Rock.. The crowd was cheering but Vince McMahon was far from happy his face turning red with rage. Lawler thanked the fans for understanding and told them to enjoy the rest of the show but Vince couldn’t believe it. Vince argued with the referee before turning his attention to Bulldog who had his hands over his head. Vince called Bulldog a “son of a bitch” and Bulldog was sorry…at least till Vince slapped him across the face. All that was left for Smith was a lot of red mist and one running powerslam later, the crowd were chanting Bulldog’s name as the Co-Owner of the WWF as Vince lay motionless in the ring. What a night this has been!

THIS NIGHT IS YOUR BIG NIGHT!

Backstage, Paul Heyman is talking to Kane about the up coming match. Heyman tries to fire up the Big Red Machine telling him that tonight is his big chance to get the respect that a man with the power of Kane should get. Heyman said that prior to this moment, prior to this night; WWF fans across the world have always considered Kane to be nothing more than a joke…someone who isn’t good enough to be WWF Champion. To them, Kane is nothing more than a freak show that they come to watch beat people up and laugh at. Heyman said that the WWF respects him so much that they wouldn’t even give him the WWF title for more than a day! Heyman says that tonight, Kane gets the chance to get payback over the man who took that title away from him a day later. The man who always gets the breaks! Always gets the fan support! Stone Cold Steve Austin! Heyman tells Kane that it’s time for Kane to do it for him and to do it for himself! Kane vs. Austin is next!

Non-Title Singles Match

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kane (w/Paul Heyman)

The match kicks off with a huge pyro display as Kane and Heyman head to the ring, Heyman looking all seriously in his cheap suit and WWF baseball cap while Kane looks delirious to the size of the match he is walking into. Kane climbs into the ring and sets the ring flames off as Heyman stands on the outside cheering on his monster ahead of the big match. Next up is the man himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin who makes his way to the ring in his stereotypical fashion, climbing into the ring despite the 7ft monster not backing down one inch. Austin is not afraid and that is how it should be.

The two men lock up in the ring and both men try to power each other out, Kane eventually wrenching the arm before Austin levels things up with a kick to the gut. As this match probably would have expected, the two men begin to brawl, Austin unleashing a hell of a lot of right hands before attempting to whip Kane into the ropes, but Kane reversed the whole before dropping Austin with a huge big boot to the face.

Kane throws Austin into the corner before delivering him with some huge body shots Austin swinging his arm back with the power of each shot. Kane continues sending Austin hard into the opposite turnbuckle before dropping Austin with a huge side walk slam, Kane going the pin but doesn’t manage get himself a pin fall just yet. Kane gets back to his feet and hits Austin with a huge tilt of whirl slam, Austin holding his lower back after the move, Austin seeming to be in quite a bit of discomfort and the commentators realised.

Kane got back to his feet and quickly signalled for the chokeslam and Heyman told him what to do next. “HIT THE CHOKESLAM KANE! HIT IT!” Kane waited for Austin to get to his feet but Austin had played possum with Kane nearly pulling off a Stunner on Kane but Kane was too smart for Austin pushing him away. Austin knew he had to fight back and came back with some right hand shots only to get raked in the eyes by the Big Red Machine. Kane went for another Irish whip but this time Austin countered the move before dropping Kane with a Lou Thez press beating Kane down to a pulp on the ground with some more punches. Austin got back to his feet before running against the ropes hitting axe handle elbow drop on Kane before going for the cover but Kane through Austin off like he he’d done nothing to him. Austin was in trouble and he knew it.

Austin had to continue and he did dropping Kane with a clothesline before sending him back into the ropes following right hands with some mud hole stomping Austin throwing everything at me. However Austin stepped away from a split second and that was all Kane needed to hit Austin with the second big boot of the night. Kane climbed up top and dropped Austin again with a flying clothesline but Austin smartly decided to roll out of the ring after the move. Kane got back to his feet and argued with and distracted with the referee as Paul Heyman snuck up on Austin and began to beat Austin with his leather belt marking before sending him back into the ring pleading his innocence.

Kane got down to his knees and beat Austin with some right hands before hitting Austin with an elbow drop, Kane going for the cover but only for the two, Austin getting the shoulder up. Kane got back to his feet and threw Austin into the corner again choking Austin with his size 14 boot before dragging Austin back into the middle of the ring before going once again for a chokeslam but Austin hit Kane with a low blow and the referee immediately disqualified him.

Winner – Kane

Austin was not done yet though and took Kane to the outside of the ring with a huge clothesline. Heyman tried to sneak attack Austin but Austin quickly picked him up and Heyman backed off as Austin grabbed hold of a steel chair and went straight back to Kane. Austin hit Kane with a huge chair shot across the head of the big red monster but he didn’t budge and Austin took three shots just to floor him but he wasn’t done there. Austin unleashed shot after shot on the Big Red Machine leaving Kane battered on the outside by the time he was finished, Austin doing a number on Kane.

After the beating, Heyman ran over to Austin asking him “what he had done?” but Austin ignored him to the support of the fans opting to climb into the ring and open up some cans of beer. Austin’s party was quickly cut short as Austin looked down to see Kane sit up and immediately get back to his feet, Austin spitting out his beer and leaving the ring as Kane tried to get right back at Austin. Heyman smiled on sinisterly as Kane stood in the ring, Austin backing up the ramp like a scolded dog! Kane is a God Damn Monster!

ARE YOU READY?

After the ring had cleared, Bubba Ray and D-Von made their way to the ring to address the fans regarding the DX situation and their no show. Despite the heavy boos, Bubba Ray got on the microphone and told the fans that his name is Bubba Ray Dudley and that he is half of the Greatest Tag Team in the WWF history. Bubba said that a couple of weeks ago, the Dudley Boyz laid down a challenge to DX but it seems that DX are just too cowardly to respond to their challenge, whether it be at No Way Out, OVW, wherever. Bubba then insincerely apologises for the no show of DX and requests that the ring announcer get into to announce that the Dudley Boyz are in fact the greatest tag team in the history of the WWF.

“Are you ready?” all of a sudden blasts out of the PA system and the crowd go wild. The lights dim and the green lasers fill the arena! DX ARE HERE! Out from the entrance way appears two of the founding members, Shawn Michaels and “The Game” Triple H! The crowd go wild as DX hug at the top of the entrance way before walking down the ramp slapping the hands of some of the fans before both getting into the ring but the Dudley Boyz don’t back down! DX pay no attention to them nevertheless climbing the turnbuckles and saluting to the audience!

Shawn Michaels grabs some mics as Bubba Ray demands that the music is cut and wants an explanation. Shawn Michaels and HHH look at each other for a second as Bubba gets more hostile telling them that he wants some answers and he wants them now. Well Bubba, be careful what you wish forMichaels responding by taking his head off with the sweet chin music while Triple H takes down D-Von with a huge clothelsine. Triple H finishes the job hitting D-Von with a huge pedigree the crowd going wild as DX celebrate in the middle of the ring after chucking the Dudleyz out of the ring! DX are back!

THE MAIN EVENT

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are moments away from the Main Event of No Way Out and it’s going to be a THREE STAGES OF HELL MATCH!”

Once again, the rules: In order to win the match, one of the competitors must take 2 falls over their opponent with each fall being a different kind of match;

The First Fall is a Normal Singles Match; The Second Fall a Street Fight; and if needs be, the winner be decided with a third fall and this will be an AMBULANCE MATCH!

With that, Test’s music hits the arena and Test makes his way down to the ring. The crowd do not hide the fact that they hate Test and express their feelings explicitly as the walks down the ramp way prior to getting in the ring. Test didn’t even both to salute the fans and went straight over to the referee who checked him over. Test’s music stopped and Taker’s music began and the crowd went wild as the American Badass appeared at the ramp way ready for this huge match up. Taker walked down to the ring slowly stalking his prey before climbing into the ring and saluting the fans in his usual fashion.

The Main Event

Three Stages of Hell Match

The Undertaker vs. Test

Fall #1 – Singles Match

Test prematurely starts the match off attacking Taker from behind knocking him to the ground. Test launches a beat down on the Deadman with a truck load of right hands. Test backs off using the ropes for some momentum but Taker is quick back to his feet and takes Test down with a side walk slam. Test gets back to his knees and Taker immediately sends him to the outside with a boot to the face Test falling out and Taker following. Test tries to fight back with some more shots but Taker seems to have the stronger shot knocking Test backward before sending Test into the steel post. Taker continues to follow the fleeing Test around the ring Taker nearly falling over the steps turning only to walk into a big boot to the face by Taker.

Test continues to feel the beat down getting thrown into the steel steps Test’s knees crashing hard against the steel steps. Taker gets back on top of Test but Test rakes the eyes of Taker giving him some breathing room before dropping Taker with a huge clothesline. Taker is sent back into the rope and Test follows kicking Taker in the side of the head with his boot knocking him down to the floor. Test grabs Taker back to his feet and whips him into the turnbuckle before following in with a corner splash, Taker halting the attack with his elbow before dropping Test with a swinging neckbreaker.

Taker goes for the cover but Test kicks out, Taker responding in the only way he knows, with his fist before choking Test on the ground out of anger. Taker gets back to his feet and brings Test with him sending him a right hand knocking him backwards but Test responds in kind. There is shot after shot from the two, Test finally stopping it with a kick to the gut before attempting to hit the pumphandle slam but Taker slides down the back and pushes Test into the ropes, Test bouncing off and walking straight into a big boot.

Test gets back to his feet but Taker lifts him onto his shoulder and drops him for the Snake Eyes bouncing Test’s head off the turnbuckle before Taker slaps Test on the back and drives his head into the mat with a DDT. Taker quickly gets back on his feet, the crowd cheering like crazy as he raises his arm back; Can Taker take the lead here? Chokeslam!!!! Taker dropped to his knees and covered Test to take the 3 and the first fall! Test has to win this next fall now!

Winner of the First Fall – The Undertaker

Test rolls out of the ring and crashes on the ground as Taker raises his arms to the crowd. Next fall is a Street Fight!

Fall #2 – A Street Fight

As soon as the bell rings, Taker is out of the ring and after Test who has conveniently hidden under the ring. Taker circles the ring kicking the steps calling for Test but Test does not make a show and Taker resorts to looking under the ring for him. He’s not at the left side, or near the announce table. How about!? Wait! Taker behind you! Test attacks Taker with a Singapore cane knocking Taker to his knees. Test hits him again and again and again before finally breaking it over his back but Taker is barely hurt. Test hits Taker with some hard fists before throwing him with all of his might into the ring barricade, Taker crashing into it. Taker is still moving though and takes a kick to the face of Taker to really slow him down.

Taker grabs hold of one of the steel chairs at ring side and folds it up as Taker gets back to his feet before cracking one over the head of the Deadman. Test slides the chair in the ring before throwing Taker in after it and getting in himself before going for the cover but Taker kicks out just after the two. Test gets back to his feet and he stomps away on Taker before going over to the corner of the ring and untying some of the turnbuckle covers revealing the ring post before going back for Taker but Taker is already fighting out with big fists. Taker is back to his feet but Test blinds him with a thumb to the eye before going for an Irish whip but Taker counters and Test goes crashing into the uncovered post. Test looks in agony! Taker follows up with a huge running DDT driving Test’s head into the mat, the audience thinking it was over but Test managed to get the shoulder up.

Taker chokes Test on the mat and the referee asks Taker nicely to relieve the illegal move but Taker doesn’t give a damn stopping when he feels like it before throwing Test out of the ring once more. Taker follows him out and bashes Test’s head against the announce table JR and Tazz getting nervous as Taker picks up a steel chair and cracks it over the head of Test. Taker begins to clear the announce table pulling out television sets and removing the top off and Tazz and JR move both know what is coming next. Taker grabs hold of Test and bashes his head once more against the announce table the crowd right behind Taker. Taker goes for a second one but Test counters the move and throws Taker’s head into the table. Test then drops Taker to the mat with a huge clothesline.

Test grabs hold of Taker, Test’s face now battered and bloodied and punches Taker with a stiff shot to the eye before lifting him up onto his shoulder. Test hits Taker with a pumphandle slam through the announce table and the crowd go wild! Taker has just been slammed through the announce table damn it! Test looks exhausted but grabs hold of Taker by his arms and pulls him over towards the ring. Test takes his time but manages to slide the Deadman back into the ring and wastes no time covering Taker but TAKER KICKS OUT! How the hell is that even possible? Test cannot believe it his hands over his head and quickly grabs hold of the steel chair as Taker somehow is trying to get back to his feet. Test cracks another blowing chair shot over the head of Taker this time making the cover and getting the three. Test won this fall and the cameras see that Taker has been busted open!

Winner of the Second Fall – Test

Test drops to the mat and both men take seconds out, the blood pouring from Test’s face as the Ambulance arrives at the top of the ramp as they prepare for the third fall. It’s an Ambulance Match!

Fall #3 – Ambulance Match

Test gets up to his feet and begins to drag Taker to the end of the ring before getting out and trying to slide him to the outside by Taker holds onto the ropes and Test needs to persuade him with some powerful right hands. Test eventually drops Taker but Taker is fighting with his might and hits Test with some stuff kicks knocking him to the ground but Test is back up and gets right back on Taker. Test brings Taker back to his feet and tries to pull him forward but Taker holds him back before taking his head off with a huge clothesline.

Taker grabs hold of Test and throws him forward Test landing hard on the ground. Taker sticks his boot into the face of Test aggravating that nose further as they approach the ambulance. Taker takes hold of Test and attempts to whip him into the ambulance but Test counters and drives Taker head first into the steel door the sound of skull on metal echoing in the arena. Test opens the door and tries to get Taker to get inside the ambulance but Taker fights off with huge kicks and punches taking Test away. Taker gets out of the ambulance and goes for the head of Test but Test is quick off the mark and hits him low where it hurts.

Test dropped Taker with a facebuster to the ramp way talking some trash to Taker. Test went around to the front of the Ambulance and started to climb up the side and got somehow onto the roof the crowd anxious to see what was gonna happen next. Test crazily goes off the top of the ambulance with a diving elbow but Taker moves out of the way and Test crashes down with some force, the fans unable to resist the “holy shit” chants. Taker gets back to his feet and does his end is near taunt before lifting back his arm and hitting the chokeslam on Test landing on the metal once but Taker isn’t even done here!

Taker grabs hold of Test once more and lifts him up! Wait! This is old School Undertaker! IT’S THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! Test is done like a turkey as Taker lifts up his lifeless body and slides him into the Ambulance closing the door behind and this match is done! Test talked big but he didn’t put up much of a struggle here tonight!

Winner of the third fall, and the match, The Undertaker

Taker sits down on the ramp looking around as Test is driven away, the crowd cheering Taker on! Tonight, Test brought everything he had but it wasn’t enough to beat the Deadman! Taker’s next stop; Wrestlemania….a WWF Championship Match! JR and Tazz thank everyone for joining the show and hope everyone enjoyed it! Till Next Time! Good Night!

Good Stuff DaveKOTW. I'm glad to see the title stayed on the Rock., but a few of the matches shocked me with the outcome, which is a good thing I suupose, since if everything was predictable, this wouldn't be a worthwhile diary to read. Wrestlemania is shaping up to be pretty nice, I can't wait for it. Keep up the good work.

THE NO WAY OUT 2002 ROUND-UP (FROM AN OOC PERSPECTIVE)

THE WRITER'S SPIEL

Hey all, I hope you enjoyed the show. I've got to say, with Christmas and all, it was very tough to get this going but thanks to some helpful reminders and a Hardcore Match that was a joy to write, I managed to get it done! (Even with a the Main Event from Hell!). I can't tell you how relieved I am that it is finished now! Next stop is Wrestlemania and boy have I got some huge matches up my sleeve as well as some big suprises. Now let us have a moment of silence for the passing of Heat...

Thanks for all those who took part in the contest. It is always a pleasure to read people's predictions and see how tuned in people are to the show and see if they can see the direction I am moving in and so on. Some pretty impressive scores in the first contest; this is how they went down...

Grrr to Edge winning ..... freakin poop.

Trish retains ? Ok, I can deal, but wow did you waste some build of Daffney. I fully expect that she goes mental on Trish now.

RVD goes over. Again, I can deal .... but still probably should have waited another month. Now what does Angle do ? He can't be a sacrifice for RVD. Angle needs to get heat back and quick.

Key owns, continue the push. It's working.

I'm mixed about Vince winning. Screw the Rock and all, but he looks weak as all shit now going into Wrestlemania. It's a no brainer that he'll lose at Mania if he's still the champ. Booked into a corner with this one.

Wow, two cheap ones in a row. I understand that you needed to protect both of them but a low blow DQ ? Ouch. Kane technically moves forward but him not getting the win after dominating Austin's ass is kinda wonky. Austin had to low blow to get out of it ? Not sure I like ....

The Main Event delivered though, and it saved the show. Seriously, this is exactly how Test needed to be given credability and Taker needed to move forward. Test looked strong and was good in the match, but Taker was just too much. Good job here.

Overall, the card was good, but the two matches with wonky endings seemed out of place and almost bombed you.

------

I love Stasiak bucking up on the radio show. He's right on and it needs explaining. I'd love to see you develop this into an angle.

While the Sandman would fit in your hardcore division and give as much 'cred' to it as is possible, I hope you don't do it. He will be buried by the comparisons and a confrontation would have to happen. Austin would own Sandman and he would be ruined.

Keep truckin bud, good stuff.

Raw Preview

Scheduled to be broadcast on Monday, 11th February 2002 LIVE from Dallas, Texas

The Aftermath of No Way Out

We are one day removed from No Way Out and we are on the finally stretch before the Granddaddy of the All, WrestleMania.

The match already decided for WrestleMania is the WWF Championship Match between the Champion The Rock and the Royal Rumble Winner, The Undertaker and with both men leaving No Way Out victorious, it will be interesting to see how the two get on tonight, especially considering the two have them have been made to tag with each other against Ron Waterman and X-Pac in the RAW Main Event.

Last night, Degeneration X made their highly anticipated return to the WWF at No Way Out to the delight of many WWF fans. But while the majority of the WWF fans and staff were glad to see DX return, the Dudley Boyz were not, especially after DX responded to their hostility with the sweet chin music and a pedigree. How will the Dudleyz respond to their embaressment at the PPV? DX will be in the house tonight!

Also in action tonight is the WWF Hardcore Champion, Key, who last night overcame all the odds to retain his Hardcore Title against the sucidal homicidal genocidal death defying Sabu. Key will be the first to tell you that Sabu brought everything to the table and with Charles Wright, Key's manager playing an instrumental role in his victory, Keywill be certain that Sabu will be coming to RAW tonight with a score to settle. Key takes on Val Venis tonight for the WWF Hardcore Title.

The WWF Intercontental Champion Shawn Stasiak is also scheduled to see action tonight, facing the Veteran, Al Snow in a Championship Match. Stasiak has not been the happiest man of late, publically complaining about his lack of use while Al Snow feels he has a score to settle, after WWF Heat was cancelled just one night ago. Can Snow score a huge upset tonight?

Another Superstar in action is Daffney Unger who takes on the woman who cost her the WWF womens title one night ago, Jazz. Daffney exclusively told WWF.com that Jazz is a woman that needs to be shown a lesson in respect. Daffney made it clear that she was not a Diva and she was not a joke and that Jazz had no right to take off her top and expose her to the perverted WWF fans. Daffney promises to get Vengeance tonight!

Last night, Kane beat Stone Cold Steve Austin by disqualifcation after the Rattlesnake low blowed the Big Red Monster costing himself the match up before laying Kane out with a steel chair. However, just like other superstars, Austin found out just how tough the Big Red Machine is when Kane arose following the beat down like he hadn't been touched at all, causing Austin to depart from the arena as quick as possible. While it is unconfirmed whether Austin will be here tonight, Kane has been put in singles action on request of Paul Heyman and he will go up against the Lethal Weapon Steve Blackman.

The WWF European Champion Rikishi will also be in action tonight, tagging with his long term friend Scotty 2 Hotty against the Team of William Regal and Billy Kidman. Plus, Vince McMahon has a major announcement regarding an upcoming WWF Special! Tune in to find out all the latest action within the WWF!

I already replied once to 'No Way Out, but I thought I would be more detailed, now that I have had an opportunity to read it over a couple of times.

Edge def. Lance Storm

This match was a toss up to me. It could have gone either way, and really both men could have used the rub. Edge is younger, so it makes sense to give him the rub in these sort of spots, but either way you would have went would have been understandable.

Trish def. Jazz and Daffney to retain the WWF Women's Title

I absolutely love Trish Stratus. I totally marked out for her when she was wrestling, not because she was attractive, but because she could actually wrestle... at least according to Diva standards. Trish makes the perfect Woman's champ, and should be to that title, what Triple H and Jeff Jarrett is to the real life World Title. However with that said, in order to fully take advantage of Trish, she needs a legit rival... something she never really had in the WWE. Lita was OK, but was clearly a distant second behind her. I wouldn't mind... in fact I expect Daffney to get the title at 'Mania, and I actually hope she does, so that Daffney can begin to separate herself from the pack, and we see a great diva rivalry.

Rob Van Dam def. Kurt Angle

As I stated in my predictions, I'm too big of a Kurt Angle mark to be really biased on this, but I really wished Angle would have went over on this one. His upside is far more better, IMO, then RVD's, however I guess you can't win them all, and RVD is defiantly a solid choice to go over Angle.

Key def. Sabu to retain the WWF Hardcore Title

I actually would have liked to see Sabu with the win on this one, but it appears that the title is going to stay on Key until 'Mania where it may go to Raven? Or someone else like that. So I'm cool with it. Key is an accepted champion, which for the Hardcore title is really all you need since that title is about as much image as any other lower tier title.

The Rock def. Vince McMahon and The British Bulldog to retain the WWF Title

To be perfectly honest, when I read this the first time, I didn't like it at all. You put Vince McMahon over one of your biggest stars, and really gained nothing for it. I mean, he’s the owner, he doesn’t need to be ‘put over’, by anyone. At first I took it as you just wanting a 'swerve', and done so at your Champion's expense. However, you typically book very well, and so booking just to 'swerve' isn't what you would normally do. So I started thinking about why the match went down the way it did, and I've come to the conclusion that this is actually typical classic WWE, a swerve to set up a swerve. I'm not gonna say what I think is going to happen, for fear that I may be right, but if I am right, I love the way this planned out. However if this was booked just as a single 'swerve', or if you put over McMahon, at the expense of your Champion, I don't really care much for the move at all, especially since Wrestlemania is right around the corner.

Kane def. Stone Cold

I would be careful on using Stone Cold as someone who you ‘put guys over with’. Don’t get me wrong, putting Kane over Austin, makes Kane seem like an absolute monster, but Austin isn’t someone who is very good at putting people over, because his character is typically someone who always gets people back. Good win for Kane though.

The Undertaker def. Test

This was actually a semi-predictable result, but one in which I think really helped Test as a upper tier wrestler, despite losing so I’m glad you played things out the way you did, and I LOVE the news flash, about Taker refusing to put over Test, future making this result more believable and helps lessen the ‘sting’ from Test with losing to ‘Taker.

As I said earlier, good stuff. Only real ‘problem’ I had, was with the Rock match, but if I am correct on where its going, I absolutely love even that booking. I can’t wait for Rock/Taker at Maina. Keep up the solid work.

WWF RAW

Broadcast on Monday, 11th February 2002 LIVE from Dallas, Texas

THE AFTERMATH OF NO WAY OUT

RAW kicked off tonight with the Co-Owner of the World Wrestling Federation, Vince McMahon and he looked quite well considering the match he had been in the previous night. Vince McMahon said that No Way Out had promised to be the greatest night in life; the night when Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the greatest figure in the history of Sports Entertainment, became a three time WWF Champion. But this moment was stolen from him by the immorality of Jerry Lawler and the incompetency of the British Bulldog and Vince guarantees revenge on both. Vince says that his opportunity to become the WWF Champion is over and he has to accept that. After all it is now the Undertaker’s turn to challenge the WWF Champion the Rock and he gets to do it at the Granddaddy of the all…WrestleMania! It’s going to be a spectacle! Two of the most popular stars in the history of the WWF going head to head! But Vince reminds the fans that he hates popularity and he hates these ignorant fans that boo him day in and day out! That is why TONIGHT! The Rock is going to team up with his WrestleMania opponent in a tag team match against Ron Waterman and X-Pac and Vince hopes that the two of them get the ass kicking of a life time!

In the opening match of the night, the WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Stasiak took on the WWF veteran Al Snow in a Title Match despite the pre-match objects from the Intercontinental Champion. Al Snow looked really fired up tonight and it certainly didn’t look like all of his time in commentary had affected his in ring ability nearly taking the match on at least three occasions in the early goings of the match, Stasiak looking completely out of the game. Snow continued to control the match even hitting the Snow bomb but no matter what, Stasiak refused to lie down and give Snow the three he needed. Al went to hit the Snow Plow but Stasiak got out of the front face lock hold only to get taken down again with DDT but Snow then made a fatal error and decided to head up top. Snow quickly went for the moonsault but connected only with the mat. Snow got back to his feet but Stasiak was ready in waiting, rolling up the challenger grabbing the tights and the rope to steal the victory and keep his Intercontinental Title. Snow couldn’t believe his look and looked for revenge only to find Stasiak making haste up the ramp celebrating his steal. That Stasiak is a lucky SOB!

Backstage prior to the Women’s Match, the WWF Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus, paid a visit to one of the contestants Jazz and wishing her all the best in her match against Daffney Unger and said that she hoped that one day, the two of them could finally have that Singles Match for the Women’s Title. Jazz, however, was less than impressed telling Trish that she doesn’t need her best wishes and she doesn’t want her support. Jazz said that she was the biggest bitch in the World Wrestling Federation and that tonight, she was going to rip Daffney open a new hole to crap out of! (I think I’m in love)

The match itself was not as easy as Jazz had anticipated, Daffney proving her worth despite some early domination by the ECW alumnus. Jazz used all of her signature moves and even hit Unger with the Jazz Stinger but Unger would not say die and she just kept coming back even after Jazz busted her open. After a run of failed attempts to end the match, Jazz decided to remove the turnbuckle padding and drive Daffney into the turnbuckle but Unger was smart and she reversed the whip sending Jazz into her own device before taking her down with a hurricanranna. Unger finished the match off with a jumping DDT driving Jazz’s head into the mat and taking the three, Unger smiling despite being busted open. However, Daffney had not finished with Jazz and only had one intention tonight; making sure that Jazz wouldn’t be able to walk out of the ring by herself. Daffney quickly went under the ring and pulled out a huge Singapore cane raising it to the crowd before getting back in the ring and beating the living snot out of the ECW Alumnus. Unger’s shots were indiscriminate the final shot splitting the cane in two over the head of Jazz. Daffney is sick!

Next up was a confrontation between Jerry Lawler and Vince McMahon, Vince McMahon not holding back against the Co-Owner of the WWF. Vince believed that the reason Lawler screwed him out of the WWF Champion is that Jerry Lawler is jealous of Vince and that despite all of Jerry Lawler’s credentials, he has never won anything where it matters and that while Vince is known and revered around the world, Lawler is nothing more than the second best thing to ever come out of Memphis. Lawler tried to explain himself but Vince’s continual verbal battering finally got the better of him and the King told Vince that if he has such a big problem with him, then Vince knows what to do and when to do it. Lawler stormed off leaving Vince fuming.

Our next match pitted the WWF European Champion Rikishi and his long time buddy Scotty 2 Hotty against the team of William Regal and Billy Kidman. Over the past few weeks, Regal and Kidman have both staked their claim to become the new WWF European Champion but Rikishi has fought tooth and nail to keep it. Tonight would be no different Rikishi standing up to both Regal and Kidman in the early goings. Regal however had plenty to give Rikishi and the two of them continued to brawl, even when they weren’t the legal men leaving Kidman and Scotty to fight it out in the latter part of the match. Scotty took control hitting the one handed bulldog before hitting the worm but it wasn’t enough to take the win. Scotty got back and clapped to the crowd getting them to cheer for him as he waited for Kidman to get back to his feet, before going for the Super kick but Kidman dodged the bullet before landing the double knee backbreaker on Scotty. Kidman was booed loud and he enjoyed it, climbing up that turnbuckle signing off to the crowd before landing the Shooting Star Press, Rikishi unable to do anything as Kidman made the cover for the win! Kidman took to the outside after the match and got in the face of the crowd celebrating his victory as Rikishi looked back to the ring to see his fallen comrade, Regal making a quick escape in the process.

Next up to the ring was the man who one night ago lost to the Undertaker in a Three Stages of Hell Match; Test. Test was not looking particularly comfortable in the ring with one arm firmly placed in a sling and his face all plastered up. Test started by telling the world that in case they didn’t notice, last night, he was taken to hell. Test said that when he arrived at the hospital following his match, the doctors said that his elbow was in such bad condition that he probably wouldn’t be able to wrestle for a couple of months or so. But Test said that he’s isn’t a wimp and he certainly isn’t a drama queen and an hour later, Test signed himself out of the hospital and began to think about what was next for the Future of the World Wrestling Federation! Before Test gets an opportunity to say anything else, the British Bulldog hits the arena to a big pop from the crowd. Bulldog gets in the ring and grabs a mic attracting immediate hostility from the Canadian, Test introducing Bulldog as the man who single handily cost Vince McMahon the WWF Title. Bulldog smiled at the remarks before thanking Test for his kind introduction and in return, thought it would be respectful to congratulate Test on his victory at No Way Out against the Undertaker…oh but wait…Test was far from amused demanding an explanation as to why Bulldog was interrupting him. Bulldog said that he didn’t come here for hostility but to make a suggestion. Bulldog said that in case Test didn’t notice, Test didn’t have a match and neither did he so….Test ended the statement telling him that he’s not interested and that Bulldog isn’t even in his league. Bulldog quickly got into the face of Test both men going nose to nose before Test began to back off and left the ring shaking his head to a large amount of boos from the fans.

Our next match saw the WWF Hardcore Champion Key, who was accompanied to the ring by Charles Wright, take on Val Venis in a Hardcore Title Match Up. Venis has been looking sharp recently and tonight was no exception, taking Key down in the early goings with clotheslines and a great over the head belly to belly suplex only to have Key kick out on the two. However, while Val Venis may arguably have a better pure wrestling ability to Key, there is no doubt that when it comes to Hardcore Matches, Key outshines most and Key showed this once again tonight using everything around him as a weapon to slowly eat away at Val including a huge facebuster onto the steel steps on the outside busting open the challenger. Key finally ended the match, clocking Val with Charles Wright’s metal briefcase before hitting Val with the Victimizer to pick up the three and retain the Hardcore Title. After the match, Wright got in the ring with a microphone and began talking about No Way Out. Wright told the audience that last night was not a special match but just another example of how Key is dominating the WWF. Wright says that Key has done things 2 months ago that Kurt Angle is still unable to do now and that is beat someone like Rob Van Dam. Key is coming and there is nothing you can do to stop him!

We quickly go backstage to see the Dudley Boyz, Spike included, commandeer on of the locker rooms before hitting the TV on to show RAW. DX are coming out next!

We head back to the ring and the crowd await with baited breath before “Are you Ready?” hits that PA system, sending the audience into a frenzy as Shawn Michaels and Triple H make their way to the ring prancing and posing in the way that only DX can do. As soon as HHH and HBK get into the ring, they have the crowd in the palm of their hands both men doing their old spiel and the crowd ate it up. Triple H started off talking about how last June was probably the worst period of his life because he ripped a quad muscle and he had to stop doing what he loved. Triple H said that through his whole career, he’s put his body on the line every single day because that’s what he loves and that’s what he does but for 7 months, he had to sit in the shadows, living his life like a hermit and it nearly killed him inside. But The Game said that every cloud has a silver lining and through the darkness came a man that he had been able to trust and call his friend for many years and that man’s name is the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. Triple H said that with Michaels by his side, he began to believe again that this wasn’t the end and that he would one day return the thing that he loved but that isn’t all that happened! Michaels said that while he was helping out the Game, Michaels also began to realise that this injury that had kept him out for all these years also wasn’t the end even surprising himself. Michaels said that he felt good…real good. He felt agile and training with Triple H made him wonder more and more. Could there be a return? Well here we are in Dallas, Texas so Michaels guesses the answer is YES! The only question that now remains is when are we going to see DX’s return match? Well….how about WrestleMania? The crowd went wild as DX left this idea open. DX’s first match back is going to be at the Granddaddy of them all?!

We head backstage once more to see the Dudley Boyz bickering between each other, all three men evidently unhappy. Could these be the opponents for DX?

Back to the ring and to another match this time pitting Steve Blackman against the Monster Kane who made short work of his opponent ending the match with the chokeslam from hell, Heyman screaming through the entire match. After Kane won, Heyman wasn’t done yelling at the Big Red Machine to “Destroy him” and that is exactly what Kane intended to do. Kane climbed out of the ring and collected the steel steps and brought them back to the ring; Kane had evil intentions on his mind. However, it seems that Stone Cold was not finished after last night running to the ring with a steel chair, using the chair against the steps to knock Kane backwards the steps landing on top of him and Heyman was not pleased. Austin once again beat down the Big Red Monster with the steel chair with even more ferociousness than the night before disfiguring the chair completely before raising it to the crowd. But as Austin was leaving, Kane did something that even surprised him…he sat up once again like nothing had happened. What does Austin have to do to take down Kane? Heyman grinned back at Austin; Austin maybe in trouble…

Our next stop was The Coach who was joined by the WWF Champion The Rock who was looking quite happy this evening. The Coach asked the Rock how he was doing and The Rock quickly reminded us that he is still the WWF Champion, he still has all of his fans and that he is going on to the Main Event of WrestleMania! But what did The Rock think about tonight’s match up? Well, The Rock thought that he and The Undertaker were gonna whip Waterman and X-Pac’s ass all over Dallas, Texas. The Rock made it clear that while Taker is taking on The Rock at WrestleMania, The Rock and Taker have no beef and that tonight it’s not about them, it’s about a couple of jackasses that love to wipe Vince McMahon’s candy ass! IF you smell…what The Rock is cooking?

On to the Main Event and it was The Rock teaming up with The Undertaker against Ron Waterman and X-Pac, this feud stemming back all the way from the end of December. The Rock and X-Pac started off the match, The Rock making easy work of X-Pac in the early goings leading to X-Pac tagging out to Ron Waterman. Waterman, unlike X-Pac, took the match to The Rock taking The People’s Champion down with some power moves and nearly getting the pin fall after a huge German Suplex. Waterman tagged X-Pac back in and both men began to isolate The Rock from his partner, X-Pac using his quick feet effectively to keep The Rock cornered, while Taker was desperate to enter the match. X-Pac, however, should have had more respect for the WWF Champion, The Rock playing possum to X-Pac’s broncobuster X-Pac straddling only the ring post allowing The Rock to drop Waterman and make the hot tag to The Undertaker, who quickly cleaned house. The Undertaker went for the chokeslam on X-Pac but Waterman attacked him from behind halting the momentum momentarily before The Rock cleared Waterman from the ring and Taker countered X-Pac’s arm wrench, and hit him with the chokeslam for the three. The Rock and The Undertaker show everyone how it’s done here on RAW, both men shaking hands in the ring at the end as the show came to a close.

Loved the show.

One thing I must bring up ... Bulldog/Test? It seems sort of rushed, but hey. This could turn out to be something great. I love both these wrestlers, and hopefully they get a match at Mania.

I was fully expecting Snow to win the IC title for some reason, and Stasiak is lucky to have kept his title. I think he is going to lose it at Mania, but against who? Stasiak is lucky you're giving him this push, and his attitude isn't warranted. Hmmm ...

I'm not following the Women's stuff too much, but it does look pretty good.

X-Pac/Waterman? Blah! Why do I have such trouble getting behind these two? I have no idea! Rock/Taker shaking hands at the end of the show was fantastic, and it makes me excited for the match at Mania.

DX and Dudley Boyz? This could be very good! Obvious, but very good nonetheless.

Last comment: When will we find out why Heat was cancelled? :D

Keep up the good work, my friend.

Good show. I'm marking out for Daff vs Trish at Wrestlemania, even though I have a feeling Trish may drop the title in that match. I'm actually liking the build up too between Rock and Taker at this point. Its very believable, and puts over that the two biggest 'faces' are facing off at Wrestlemania. I still hope you go the way I think you are with this match.... but Wrestlemania is looking very goood. I can't wait!

I've read this thing from front to back and maybe I'm overlooking something, but it's driving me nuts. The diary's interesting and all...but who the hell is Key? I must have overlooked something or whatever, but all I can get is that Key is big and he's maybe black and Charles Wright manages him. I won't say Mark Henry, I think he was in this diary somewhere else, but please tell me who that is.

I'm fairly certain that Key is Vic Grimes of ECW and XPW fame.

Good show mate i liked it and it seems like something WWE would do at this time in real life. Have the champion and challenger team up in a tag match and the people who lost in the title match at NWO and Challengers match will end up feuding.

I am liking this diary alot but like Carparama i don't really like Waterman/X-Pac but i'll manage to get over it.

Womens Title hunt i felt Daffney should be ready to win the title and hopefully she'll win the title at Wrestlemania.

Stasiak will loose the title sooner than later. I'm going with Wrestlemania he'll forfeit the belt.

DX and Dudley boyz could be a good thing if done right. Be something different too so i'm looking forward to that

I highly doubt X-Pac and Waterman will get over. Thats very realistic on the part of Dave in terms of WWE realism, get two lackeys for Vince, team em up regularly, the crowd thinks theyre shit, they both get X-Pac Heat, even Waterman, and thus, WWE still dont care and continue to give em main event matches!

Roll on the draft and KUTGW!

WWF Smackdown! Preview

Broadcast on the 14th of February 2002

We are just 4 days removed from WWF No Way Out and the World Wrestling Federation Superstars are back on the road again with their next stop none other than the Grandaddy of them all! WrestleMania!

Two men who will know this fact better than most will be the WWF Champion The Rock and the number one contender for the WWF Title, the Phenom The Undertaker. While most expected these two to be on rocky terms, both men stuck it together on RAW showing Vince McMahon just exactly why they are the two most dominating superstars in the WWF. Tonight, Vince McMahon pits The WWF Champion against Ron Waterman, a man desperate to make a name for himself in the WWF and what an opportuinity he has tonight! The Undertaker has been given the night off.

But The Rock won't be the only champion in action tonight. Intercontinental Champion Shawn Stasiak, who has been IC champion since the beginning of January, has never been one to shy away from his recent success. However, Al Snow last monday night that arrogance has it's consequences, Stasiak resorting to a cheap method to retain the title. Lawler however was not going to let it stand and in an exclusive interview with WWF.com, Lawler has booked a rematch between the two for Smackdown! Can Al Snow get that IC Championship belt or will Stasiak once again run away with the belt?

Also seeing action tonight is none other than the British Bulldog who last monday night, stepped up to Test as he was gloating about the miracle that he is. Bulldog told Test that he wanted him at Mania and Test didn't look too keen but you can be sure that this is far from over! Tonight, Bulldog faces Raven.

For the best Wrestling action on cable, tune into WWF Smackdown on UPN!

Also in action tonight - Kane, Chuck Palumbo, Sabu and Hardcore Holly with appearances from Degeneration X, Trish, Daffney Unger, Key and many more!
