Championship Manager 01/02

Due to me having a week off and having...misplaced Football Manager 2007, I pulled out Championship Manager 01/02. Its just as good as it was when I bought it years ago. I finished a season as Blackburn and now I'm totally hooked again. In my opinion its a fantastic game, and I was just wondering if anyone else shared this opinion or had any thoughts on it.

The version I certainly played more than any other. The choice of team made your game awesome.

Of course. I went Blackburn because on that game they were freshly promoted and had plenty of money. I finished 7th thanks to top scorer...um...Coraddo Grabbi.

It was certainly my favourite version of all the Championship Managers. I tried installing it again before I actually went and bought FM07, but I couldn't get it to load properly for some reason.

All of the CM3 updates from 99/00 to 01/02 were teh awesome.

Pah, the first ever Championship Manager was best. Tranmere were loaded for some reason (but no-one good would sign for them) and Lineker was playing for Grampus Eight. Sol Campbell was a young teenage striker.

You could choose what you were like as a manager - confident, selfish, responsible etc etc. Great times.

Grabbi is a kind of cult hero for some odd reason. Good on him.

I remember in CM2, Michael Owen's birthdate was random, sometimes he'd be 16, sometimes he'd be 32, but he was always rubbish!

CM2 was clearly the best FM game. Because it was the first game for the PC I ever bought using my own money.

I still remember my all-conquering Newcastle side in CM2. Faustino Asprilla was a legend. And my Michael Owen started aged 17 ¬_¬

I loved CM 01/02, that was probably the last game before they got too complicated, too slow, and pointless. I always loved all the older Champ Manager games, from 96/97-01/02, they were all great!

I love CM/FM for those kind of things. Apparently Sindre Loe Bing paid the researcher to make him awesome in FM06.
