Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), well yeah! Hooray! I've seen some star trek stuff! Can anyone explain some of the stuff that happened?

I never watch anything over two hours at home, but having wanted to see it for ages, I finally committed to watching The Wild Bunch, and it's just so so great. The action sequences are breathtaking, and there's so much more to admire about the film: like the strength of the characters, their interactions and the sheer scale of the whole film. An instant favourite for me.

I think I missed 10 minutes but I looked it up and now I get it! But damn that movie is sooooo sloooooow. Is 2 better?

Very much so. The first is basically a really badly elongated episode of the TV show, the second is much better,.

Even if you watch no others, you've got to watch Star Trek 2 now just so that you can accurately appreciate just how truly awful The Motion Picture is.

The Motion Picture felt like three episode plots molded into one: Kirk butting heads with a man he replaced, the new USS Enterprise NCC-1701 being less-than adequate for its task, and an external threat caused by past actions. The film's problems resulted from trying to fit them all together.

Boys Don't Cry is amazing. It's especially heartbreaking to see after the events of last week, but it really is gorgeously done.

The new Terminator movie is pretty solid. Lots of action, lots of fan service/nods to past films, and Emilia Clarke being a total badass.

Could have used more Matt Smith though.

John Wick is like Hotline Miami: The Movie, except without masks but with just as much over the top violence.

Finally got around to watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Really enjoyed it. Movie's got to be doing something right when you find yourself feeling a pang of sadness for an animated raccoon.

I've just started watching Stretch and Daryl from The Walking Dead is in it. Why is this interesting? The other character in the scene is holding his crossbow. Nice.

The Wicker Man [1973] is good, it's that classic atmospheric horror that messes with you. A few plot holes, but nothing I can't overlook.
