Apart from the utterly obvious 'Steamboy' film, you mean? :shifty:

'Lost Exile' had some badass steampunk stuff (wub the sky battleships), though I never got round to the end of it. Would definitely recommend a look though.

So apparently, Adult Swim has lost the Rights to Blood + and Death Note. However they are picking up the rights of 3 (maybe?) anime. The first of which is going to air on February 14th.

Adult Swim has been very quite about the series that they have picked up so there is a lot of speculation, but no one seems to know what it is they've picked up. Some of the obvious choices are the Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and the New Inuyasha series that has picked up where the original left off and is going to run to the completion of the Manga that finally ended about a year ago.

The speculation that I have seen would place Soul Eater as a possible pick-up, but honestly it could be damn near anything.

I would think FMA: Brotherhood to be pretty logical. I would crack up if they got InuYasha, too, given the fact that this commercial always gave me the impression that they weren't the hugest fans of it during its initial run on the network.

Stokerina's been rewatching Vandread as of late...

It's a decent enough series (in spite some virtually-pornographic elements), but it always strikes me as weird how ridiculously popular it is amongst female anime fans I know. This is a series that is derived from an H-game, for goodness' sake!

Makes no sense to me.

Is she watching the sub or dub version?

Vandread is a fairly decent series. I watched it on Starz or Encore (I forget which) when they used to show anime regularly a few years ago. Didn't find out about it being based on an H-game until a few months afterwards, though.

You know, I just recalled something. I remember hearing a promotion from Sunrise that Gundam Unicorn, which is a new Universal Century era Gundam series, is getting a Simultaneous release in both English and Japanese.

It might be a long shot, but maybe Adult Swim is savy enough to have picked it up somehow.

Sub version. She's always watches the sub version of things.

the New Inuyasha series that has picked up where the original left off and is going to run to the completion of the Manga that finally ended about a year ago.

WHY WON'T IT REMAIN DEAD?!? >_<

God, I don't know about Soul Eater on Adult Swim. On the one hand it keeps it from getting shitty 4Kids treatment but on the other, it could go the way of Gurren Lagann in terms of horrendous dub quality. Furthermore, the series sort-of, well, shot itself in the testicles towards the end... I'm not entirely certain I can handle the heartbreak of watching what looked to be a phenomenal show again, in dub form, knowing how awful the ending turned out. I just... I don't know, it's not happening.

Without dropping any major spoilers, since I haven't seen Soul Eater yet, it is a `what the hell is this shit?!' ending, a lame ending, or a fucked up ending (like School Days)?

Lame ending. Laaaaame ending. Actually, it's a mix of one and two. Massive plot points left unresolved, characters hinted at becoming huge story-points left as cannon-fodder instead, characters being included into the finale because fuck it, why not? Hugely disappointing climax with a hugely disappointing "endboss", as it were, and just... it's like they stuffed so much filler in the middle of the series that by the end, as I believe GoGo once said, they went "Oh shit, we have to do the finale" and basically bum-rushed the last several episodes into each other to make up the lost time.

Seriously, it is easily one of the most crushingly disappointing endings to what looked to be an excellent series that I have ever seen.

Meh. I think I'll give it a pass, then, if the ending is like that.

My favorite bookstore (a Waldenbooks in the local mall) is closing today and had everything left (which isn't much) on sale 65 to 90% (Almost everything I saw was 65%), so I checked to see what manga they had. I picked up The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya volume 1, but haven't had time to read it yet. I've been busy playing Mass Effect 2.

Unless another, decent bookstore opens up here, I guess I'll be buying all my manga online now. The only decent bookstores here are clear on the other side of town.

If your planning on watching the 2nd Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie, do not look at this picture.

If you do not plan on watching the 2nd Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie, look at this picture and you will want to see the 2nd Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie.

Is there a point in watching the 2nd movie if you've seen the series at all?

Like there was no point in watching the 1st movie if you've seen the series at all?

The point of watching any anime is entertainment.

Honestly, if you don't see anything other part of the movie, watch the last half of it.
