Your Quintessential Summer song.

No fucking around, no top five, no close second places: What is your quintessential summer song? It is that song for the sunny days spent lakeside and those sweltering nights spent on bar stools and boats. It is for BBQing at dusk, or drinking at sunrise.

It took some deliberation for me, but Sublime wins with Boss DJ. I imagine Sublime will be responsible for a lot of the EWB's responses, but Boss DJ stands above the rest of their stuff for me. I think it has to do with me spending a lot of summers casually dating a girl who loved the song. We had a sort of one night stand mentality that lasted all summer, and started back up every year. It is hard to feel bad about something associated with that, and her singing it on the beach has always been one of the sexier things I've ever seen.

(Close second to a girl who sang Mother by Danzig at a karaoke night in the sexy category...)

I just have memories of driving with some friends on a really hot day with that song playing. Pretty much the whole album makes me feel summery.

Summer time is generally when The Thrills CD comes back into rotation, 'Big Sur' is quite summery. Same for some Magic Numbers tracks. Dreaming Of You by The Coral is another one, also...forgetting the name...Oh My Corazon by Tim Burgess. Haven't heard that in quite some time.

Given the heat burst over here, I've been wanting to listen to happier/lighter music, hence a fair bit of Foreigner downloading and listening.

Especially 'Hot Blooded'. And then theres the classics like 'Waiting For A Girl Like You', 'Juke Box Hero' and 'I Wanna Know What Love Is' behind them.

"Viva La Vida........Loca" by Coldplay is going to be HUUUUGE this summer. Great tune. Possibly better than "The Scientist"...which along with "In My Place" were like the only Coldplay songs I liked.

To add to my previous one, Rooney are incredibly summery. I'm saying this because "Blueside" came on my iPod when I was out earlier and I got right into it. They have a lot of good summer songs like "When Did Your Heart Go Missing" and "Stay Away" .
