Yes, it was. It was 50/50.. so only one of them could win it.

He was referring to the Germany player who got there about 2 minutes before the Polish guy wasn't he? The way i interpreted it was that he said "50/50 ball, there was only going to be one winner" meaning that the German guy was always going to win it. Certainly seemed that way from the tone of his voice.

I didn't hear him say it, just saying how he could have meant it. You may well be right.

I may have paraphrased also. I just heard it from the TV but it sounded that way.

It isn't that they are bad at defending, it is the fact that they played two defensive midfielders, which are generally there to protect the back 4 yet throughout that game the back 4 didn't need protecting. Stupid tactics for a French side.

France were poor, no real urgency, they didn't seem up for the game, and the formation was poor. Romania's defence did well, it shall be interesting to see how this group pans out now.
