Ack....can't choose. Love them both too much....

XAND!!!

If Family Guy had ended after its initial 50 episodes then it would (still) go down as one of the greatest animated shows ever. Its return really spoiled it (you want to complain about the WWE writers?! The Family Guy writers are idiots), so South Park wins out.

Neither. Watched South Park in the early seasons but stopped watching for no reason other than loss of interest. The seasons I did see were good.

Family Guy is a show that has not aged well at all for me. I now wish Fox never brought the show back. The entire premise of the show is just to have cute little cutscenes every five seconds to try and make fun of something in mainstream news or media or whatever. It just gets annoying when every other second the show is trying to be funny by going "not like that one time such and such happened!" and then going to some cutscene of something not even relevant to the episode. I can sit through the show and I still find some episodes good, but overall the show just sucks compared to what I thought of it years ago. Back then it was good because it was new, but it is just overhyped and is shown too much (twice a day every weekday over here), which might be why I have grown tired of it since Ive seen all the episodes too much. The episode of South Park where they make fun of Family Guy I think hits the nail on the head. FGwriters just take 5 words, put them together, and turn it into a joke for an irrelevant, most of the time unfunny cutscene. Just takes the piss out of something, whether its a movie or another show or something in the news, and turns it into a joke for no reason other than trying to make a funny. The shows first airings = great. The shows airings today = horrible.

Erm, it's a comedy. It's their job to try and be funny?

South Park by a mile. Family Guy relies too much on "this one time" jokes. While the jokes are funny for the most part, it doesn't compare to South Park. And I disagree with some of you who said it went downhill when they brought it back. I thought it was about the same.

I pick Family guy because the last season was actully quite good imo with the exception of a few episodes. We had introductions to new great charecters like the head of the maids union and it sortof builds up Mort for filling in for cleveland when he moves. The cut aways can be stupid but they can make an episode. The only thing I hate about Family guy are the fillers were the scene should only be about 30 seconds but they drag it out way too long like where Peter tries getting rid of the dead toad.

South Park.

If Family Guy is on then it's generally an entertaining watch but it misses with jokes as often as it hits, it's got at least one weak weak series and half of the pop culture references I was born on the wrong side of the Atlantic to understand.

South Park has it's own share of useless episodes but then you've episodes involving little girls getting boob jobs (and being laughed at), kids returning porn to a videostore in the style of Lord Of The Rings, a gay teacher inventing a whole new form of transportation that takes the world by storm.....And an episode which shows they're happy to risk it by ripping into Scientology (in an episode that was incredibly funny) then it's more more of an interesting and entertaining commentary than Peter Griffin punching his own daughter.

I love both shows and own several seasons of each but there is no comparison, South Park by a huge margin. Don't get me wrong I love me some Family Guy and usually always watch it when it's on but when Matt & Trey are on, a good South Park blows every great Family Guy episode out of the water.

But so far everyone's been wrong, all the cool animated shows were on MTV but then got cancelled. 3 South, The Maxx & Undergrads. All ownage.
