Mage Wars Mafia Sign Up & Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Quick Note: Mage Wars is completley fictional, I wanted to try something which also abled me to be creative and write hopefully larger updates about it. It may also be interesting to see how people do without knowing exactly who will be in the game. I really hope this goes well. I have thirty two roles planned, if it doesn't fill up I can easily edit it down. Though I don't really want to go over 32. Anyway, here's a sample of what's to come.

“I’LL END THIS!” Luminsarcium cried, his eyes fixed on his fallen friend. He screamed, flying forward followed by a storm of his own magic. He flew towards the one man trying to tear apart the very world many had tried to make perfect; Prantius. The dark mage tried to rip this world apart, and he was quite successful in doing so, ripping up the land and killing many along his journey. Luminsarcium and Prantius had been in battle for hours now, both men trying to end the others life, but to no avail. The two were locked in what seemed to be a stalemate; but Luminsarcium had a trick up his sleeve, he’d done the, he’d done the impossible. He’d studied thousands of years of teaching and he’d learnt how to teleport. He’d actually learnt to teleport, this was an unreal achievement which he hadn’t shared with a living soul. His transportation didn’t always hit target, he didn’t always hit the right spot, but he had to try.

Luminsarcium powered up his famous light beam, which had defeated many great Dark Magicians with this blast, but Prantius had equalled it with his Dark Magic attack. “You’ve already tried that, foolish magician.” Prantius powered up his Dark Magic attack. Luminsarcium concentrated. “AHHHH” He screamed as he teleported, landing himself right behind Prantius, who by this time was in utter shock. “Surprise.” Luminsarcium whispered, then ended the war beheading Prantius. Many had been lost, many had fought ‘till the end, they all prayed that a war would never break out again; their hopes stayed true for close to two thousand year, but I guess it was inevitable until war break out again.

With the first war two thousand years back, every surviving member had obviously passed away, though possessing power that humans could only dream of, life expectancy was still the same. Stories of the great war had been passed down through generation, and it seemed agreed upon that another war was to be avoided at all costs. Those whom followed Light Magic lived peacefully, but followed strict laws to prevent anything close to a war ever resurfacing once more. But despite their best efforts not every movement could be tracked by those in charge. The Light Magic council were quick to arrest any man caught using Dark Magic for shady reasons. The Council catchers did their job well, and seventeen years ago caught a young trouble maker, a direct relative to Prantius, the man who was directly responsible for starting the great war, his name was Pravus. He was caught torturing two light magicians after he had them talking about the great war. Pravus was caught, charged and sent to jail. But on his transfer to jail the forces escorting him were brutally murdered and Pravus escaped.

Fifteen years Pravus was in hiding, learning dark magic, techniques would unquestionable make him an all time legend. Two years ago Pravus rose back into the public light with more than a cult following. Pravus had rise with unimaginable power loyally followed by beasts, outcasts, the ugly and the damn right dark. Pravus had a cruel vision of this world, and he was determined to change it. Pravus started his attack west and Yuslip, burning down the village and torturing any man or women who stood his way; even feeding their children to the gut wrenching Gunstbeast. The onslaught continued, Pravus even squared off with the light magic’s strongest magician Luminarium, the battle ended in a stale mate. Pravus hadn’t bee stopped and his forces continued to gain strength. Yet the light magicians refused to go to war, refusing to make their ancestors earlier battle mean little. But the light magicians were pushed, and pushed, and the final straw came when their predictor, Future-Sight, predicated the downfall of the light magicians if they did not engage in war.

So, for the second time in history the light magicians will wage war with the dark magicians, which will surely conclude in a bloody battle for supremacy. Both sides waited for the first real casualty of the war.

The night was now in full swing as the castle doors closed, echoing through the land. The thud still sent shivers down people spines, despite living in the area all of their lives. The closing of the gates officially stated that it was time for anyone within the perimeter that it was time to go back inside, it was the council’s way of saying playtime was over. Though inside the castle, people were buzzing around, some where drunk, while some where scared, while some where getting intimate. The castle was a huge, imposing place, where any light magician or a relative of one could seek refuge. Outside the castle; houses were sprinkled in positions, with shops and a city centred in the middle. The city was majestic and beautiful; the stars shined bright highlighting its key features. Yes; Magestia was a fantastic place to live. Even while the war was plaguing the land, Magestia was somewhat safe, an attack of Magestia would be suicide for the dark at this point in time, the sheer force of the city and those who dwell in it may be to much for the dark as the light magicians would have the defending advantage.

Inside the stables, a boy was tending to his horses, stroking them carefully. You see while Magician’s could fly and it was a lot quicker than horseback, flying took up a certain amount of energy, while riding horses conserved your energy. Many foolish mages had flown into battles to find themselves considerably weaker than there usual power limit, one mistake nobody was willing to make again. The boy was preparing a black and white horse for the nightly scout. “Here you go boy.” He whispered as he put on the finishing touches to the horse. The door to the stable flung open as the scout for the night, Shielen, strutted up to the stable boy, pushing him to one side. Chewing on some tobacco Shielen spoke up. “He prepared good, son?” The boy nodded slowly. “Better be.” Shielen paused, making eye contact. “I get any trouble wid’ ‘dis horse, and you’ll be hearin’ from ma superiors.” Shielen smirked, enjoying the moment. “You got ‘dat?” He spat. The boy nodded as Shielen mounted the horse. “Good.” He laughed as he rode out of the burn, kicking the boy to the floor as he passed.

Inside the castle the council had met for an emergency meeting. They sat round a round table, one of that similar to the stories of King Arthur. Luminarium, chosen leader of The Light Magicians, and their most skilled mage, stood up, confidently addressing his audience. “My Council, our situation has worsened, while the powers of evil have no doubt ably increased, we’ve got confirmation that there’s no avoiding this threat.” The council stired, voices ranging from the young to old to the very old were heard mumbling.

A fragile man stumbled to his feet, after clearing his throat, he spoke out, looking straight at Luminarium. “Who would this confirmation be from? Is your source reliable Luminarium?” The man questioned.

“I’m afraid so council, the word has come from out most trusted and accurate future teller; they even named him after his profession. Yes, my friends, the information has come from Future-Sight. The man has predicted that if we don’t wage war soon, the forces of evil will continue to grow, and the down fall of Magestia is inevitable. Luminarium’s professionalism slipped for a moment as emotion overtook his speech. “I’m sorry, I’m very sorry. There’s no choice…”

“THERE’S ALWAYS A CHOICE.” Boomed an elderly council member, Ontarshio, a man who had fought off many beats and mages in his time. His peculiar white beard twirled down his face, twisting at unexpected points. To stand he needed the aid of a cane, he was hunched over, his face heavily bruised from past fights. “I refuse to stand to watch your generation slap out ancestors in the face, this cannot and will not be allowed to go forward. Right men?” Ontarshio spoke with passion, but the reaction he was looking for after his motivational speech simply was there. A murmur from the old elderly was heard, but generally those at the table kept quiet, avoiding the looming gaze of Ontarshio. He slowed hard, a frowning creased his face. Without another word Ontarshio walked out the room, his cane smashing against the stone floor left an impact on the room. He quietly closed the door behind him, after a short pause, the meeting returned to talk about its current affairs.

“Council, don’t think for a second I like our situation. But the answer is becoming blatantly obvious.” Luminarium paused, he breathed hard, realizing what he was going to say. “We must go to war.” Unlike past discussions where the room was filled with noise and mumbling, the room was silent. For the first time in the council’s history, the room was dead silent. Tears dripped from the eyes of those young and old, many buried their hands into their faces. While some just stood there, shaking. Luminarium hung his head, before exiting, read for a sleepless night.

Shielen scouted the land on his new horse, he laughed at himself, quietly remembering the power he felt when he’d bullied that boy back in the stable. He rode, keeping an eye out for danger, but Shielen was in denial. He sniggered to himself. “The forces of dark, rising again.” Shielen spat on the floor. “That’ll be the day.” He laughed. Suddenly the wind became chilling and strong. Shielen though nothing of it, though his horse though much different. It was out of control, kicking and snarling, deeply scared. The horse kicked and hissed, and suddenly, the sound stopped, actually, the world seemed to stand still for Shielen as Pravus stood before him, in his hand a leash, the leash was attached to a horrid beast, it snarled and spat while it furiously tried to leap forward.

“That’ll be the day, will it?” Pravus snarled as he approached Shielen, who was paralyzed, not by fear, but by dark magic. He, or his horse, was unable to move or speak. Pravus strolled up to him, the beast in hand. While Shielen couldn’t move, his mind was working perfectly; every inch of his body was filled with fear. The beast got to close for comfort as it was mere inches away as it snapped its jaws, hungry for human flesh. The beast was similar to that of a wolf, but larger, and more rabid. Its fur was dark, and its eyes dark red. It looked like a killing machine. “Like my pet?” Pravus sneered. “Most people do.” He continued.

Pravus casually walked up to Shielen and stroked his cheek. “Such a naïve soul.” Pravus laughed. “Want to be famous?” Obviously Shielen couldn’t reply, but that somewhat pleased Pravus. “’Course you do. Everybody wants to be famous.” Pravus paused. “Tell you what; I’ll tell you how you’re going to become famous, and you’re going to sit there like a good boy.” Pravus moved Shielen’s face into a nod. “Good.” Pravus composed himself. “You’re going to be the first casualty of war, Shielen, his fate started off the greatest war of all time.” He laughs. “Sounds good, doesn’t it.” Pravus’ face turned serious. “Now, how’d you like to die?”

----

The cry woke everybody up; the chilling scream would not be forgotten. A women had cried as soon as the horse trotted in to the castle. The horse carried a body, or what was left of the body. Mages of all ages came out to witness the event, all children were ushered inside as women cried, and men through up. On the horse lay the bloody remains of Shielen. His head was still attached to his neck, but was hanging by a thread. His flesh was basically red, drenched in blood. His body was covered in deep claw marks, and he only had half an arm and leg remaining on his body. Yet, his facial expression was perfectly readable, it was in utter shock. Luminarium raced to the fallen man, having to look away almost on sight. “…Bury him.” He whispered. “The first casualty of war.” HE murmured to himself. But those in the castle barely had any time to dwell on it, as shouting was heard from just behind them.

“I’LL DO IT! I WILL! I WILL!” A familiar voice sounded stressed and desperate. The crowd turned around to witness Ontarshio, holding his hand up against a young mages head. “Just like that, he’ll life will be over. Gone. Such a sweet boy, but he’ll die in the war, might was well put him out of his misery.” Ontarshio’s hand was filled with the colour of purple, he gestured towards the young boy, who braced himself for death. Ontarshio was about to strike when a dark blue beam hit him straight in the hand, knocking his head off clean. His headless body flopped to the floor, while the young man ran off. The crowd stared back at Luminarium, whom had produced the beam. “It had to be done.” He said out loud. “There’s no ignoring the threat, the dark are rising, and I have no clue who the hell we can trust.” He paused. “Rest up folks, as soon, we go to war.”

Yeah, thought it might be a Tl;Dr, but I wanted to try and get people into the story, because I can understand many people not wanting to participate due to not knowing what it is. Thanks to all those who've signed up. Oh, and sorry to ruin it, but Norro won't be playing as he helped me with some roles.

Sorry guys, I (almost) helped him design some characters in this game, so I've had a peak at the roles. No sign-up for me, I'd have the unfair advantage :D

We should have known. You infected him with TL;DR, Norro, it's like a zombie plague.
