I tried to do the tutorial....but I got stuck when I was supposed to attack a city (there was none!) in Afgan.

Had the same problem as well. But yeah, I probably had to zoom in (which I just figured out how to do).

Also, how the hell do you use nukes? I wanna nuke some bitches!

So, the trick do doing this effectively is simple.

1) At the beginning, slowly raise taxes; you don't want to do it too much, just a percent if you're a democracy, five if you're authoritarian. Also, tax the living piss out of guns and porn

2) Wait one month, then pick something to start working on, making sure you don't fall into the deficit.

3) Don't fuck with you're nation's political/religious freedoms. Once you start acting like you're Mel Gibson, your people will turn against you faster than patrons at a Michael Richards performance.

4) Get involved with wars. Don't declare war on people, but if nations friendly to you are invaded/invade someone, back them up. The people will love you.

5) Don't use nukes. I had an awesome game going on as the US; I had a surplus, the kind of health care program that even the best nations jerk off to, and the 51st state of Venezuela (Thank you France for getting pissed at them ) Then for some reason Mexico and Cuba declared war on me, and I promptly went with the nuclear option. While my popularity took a hit, it stayed high (100% to 70%), the terrorists blew up the White House .

6) Give financial aid for any catastrophe. Improves your standing with the international community.

It took me ages to realise that to join in a war I had to select the country and side with another country.

I'm playing as UK, I have 100% approval rating, currently in several wars around the world, the most notable being me and france against... germany. My whole country is on strike because I have to keep raising taxes because of all the wars, but I never dip below 100%.

Crazy.

So, after continuing a saved game before the White House went boom with me in it, I managed to achieve victory over Mexico, simultaneously creating the 52nd state and gaining victory over America's illegal immigration issues .

Unfortunately, I got to inherit all of Mexico's problem. As a result of their crime rates, in spite of a hefty police presence, I was deposed .

Might give another game as China a go.

Oh yeah, speaking of China, during my game as the US the third Sino-Japanese War broke out. Amazingly, it ended in a similar fashion as Japan's last major war, when the Chinese decided to nuke Tokyo.
