Frankie Boyle

I haven't seen him doing stand-up (I assumed it'd just be a collection of gags he's already used on MTW, like most of the other regular cast), but on MTW he's hilarious. Very much love for Frankie. Although it has just occurred to me that my favourite Frankie Boyle moment on MTW was actually a Fred McCauley moment :( "Fuckin'... boo! Because sometimes, 'boo' just isn't enough".

So this live DVD he's got out just now, it's not just stuff he's used on Mock The Week before? Or stuff that I've maybe seen on TV elsewhere? Cause I was thinking of getting it as a Christmas present for someone I know is a fan, but if it's just stuff he would've seen before then I won't bother.

And yes I'm a fan too, so I will probably borrow it once they've seen it. :shifty:

Its got a good bit of his mock the week stuff on, and the live at the apollo stuff, but he also does some good ad libbed stuff with the crowd.

I plan on getting the Michael McIntyre one aswell for crimbo I hope.

I saw another Peter Kay one today of 'tv interviews, etc', is he the biggest money grabbing comedy whore ever?

The McIntyre DVD is really good, and I'm hoping that Sean Locks will be even better. Also I like Frankie Boyle, mainly because he stands out from what can be a sea of very mediocre comedians at times.

And in a bid to hijack the thread, it's my 21st early next year and me and a few friends are gonna try and do 21 things over 21 weeks to celebrate. Two of these are to see Jimmy Carr and Rob Brydon live at the city hall, both in seperate weeks in March. I know that Carr is renowned as being good so I've got no worries about booking that one, but anyone know what Brydon is like live? I've seen him on panel shows and whatnot and he has his moments, but I'm undecided.

If McIntyre's is "really good" then Sean Lock's definitely isn't better. I got it on release day and only got around to watching it the other night. It's alright, and most of the stuff is new (I only see him on 8/10 Cats mind) but I didn't really find any of it "laugh out loud" for a period of time that I'd get with someone like Jimmy Carr. You'll laugh at most of the gags like I did, but again, none of it is ridiculously funny.

Each to his own obviously, but I just didn't think it was great. Expected more from his first live show.

I saw Sean Lock a few years ago and he was brilliant, I need to pick up his DVD.

He did a great gag about being pulled over by the police regarding the music in his vehicle. Not sure if it'll be on there, but it's an ace joke.

I've just booked the tickets for his Joke Technician tour in March. £37 for two decent tickets and I'm looking forward to it, didn't get the Rob Brydon ones just yet. Although, the woman at the ticket office said they weren't selling as fast so hopefully I can get some spare cash together for some cheap seats.

I was pissed that I missed Sean Lock a few months ago. Since I crossed Bill Bailey off and soon to follow Jimmy Carr, he's one of the only guys I'm desperate to go and see live. Is he a guy that tours regularly?

I watched his DVD tonight. Can't remember on it. Very much a 'slow burner'. He starts with smaller jokes (I liked his thing about his catchphrase early on, and themed pub toilets, but most of it was forgettable) but soon gets into the swing of things. His bit about searching for porn that doesn't exist "Busty Foster Mums"/"flu sex", hahahahaa.

I saw Frankie Boyle twice in the space of a month earlier this year. Pretty much the same show, give or take a joke or two.

The first time was rather brilliant though.

That's what will happen if you see someone twice on one tour!!!!

You wouldn't expect a band to play different songs on a second gig in the same month would you ?

I do like Frankie Boyle, it's edgy but it doesn't sound forced like a lot of edgy comics do. Most of them seem like they are doing it just to shock and grab attention but he seems very natural, I do know people who are as cynical as that and have that sense of humour to tell those jokes, they just don't have the delivery to do it right.
