Number Ones...

Recommended Posts

Out of that first list by Kats, I'd be chuffed about Pure and Simple. It's so wrong yet so awesome.

Mine:

Sister Sledge - "Frankie"

Madonna - "Papa Don't Preach"

The Pet Shop Boys - "It's A Sin"

Glenn Medeiros - "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You"

Soul II Soul featuring Caron Wheeler - "Back To Life (How Ever Do You Want Me)"

Elton John - "Sacrifice / Healing Hands"

Bryan Adams - "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You"

Jimmy Nail - "Ain't No Doubt"

Take That - "Pray"

Wet Wet Wet - "Love Is All Around"

The Outhere Brothers - "Boom Boom Boom"

Gary Barlow - "Forever Love"

Oasis - "D'You Know What I Mean?"

Another Level - "Freak Me"

Ricky Martin - "Livin' La Vida Loca"

Corrs - "Breathless"

Roger Sanchez - "Another Chance"

Gareth Gates - "Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake)"

Beyonce - "Crazy In Love"

Usher - "Burn"

2Pac featuring Elton John - "Ghetto Gospel"

Lily Allen - "Smile"

Rihanna featuring Jay-Z - "Umbrella"

Ne-Yo - "Closer"

SOUL II SOUL! I'm especially pleased with that as well as The Corrs, The Outhere Brothers and of course Oasis. Very fond memories of all of those. Lots of R&B toward the end there. Least there's nothing TOO bad in there. I mean the closest I got to shitty novelty Crazy Frog rubbish is probably.... Ricky Martin >_>

Plus I KNEW Rhianna - Umbrella was going to be there. I mean, half the population had a birthday during that reign. Christ.

Man, if I look back before I was born, there are some awesome ones on March 24th. "I Love Rock n Roll," "Rapture," "Another Brick in the Wall," and "She Loves You."

Still, nothing beats Crazy Town, Snow, and Falco!!

1982: "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

1983: "Every Breath You Take" by The Police

1984: "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. (broke the five-week reign of "When Doves Cry" three days before. Boooo...even though "Ghostbusters" is a quality song itself)

1985: "Shout" by Tears for Fears

1986: "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera

1987: "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2

1993: "Can't Help Falling in Love" by UB40

1996: "Macarena" by Los Del Rio ( >_< )

2002: "Hot in Herre" by Nelly

2004: "Slow Motion" by Juvenile

2005: "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey

2006: "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado and Timbaland (I'm sorry, I fucking love this song... (Y))

2007: "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston (...and fucking hate this one. Too many uses of the word "suicidal" for as happy as the groove sounds. (N) Although, it's still better than Rihanna's "MUUUUURRRRRRDERRRRREEEEERRRRRRRRR" song.)

2008: "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry

My first eight birthdays seem to have kicked ass...then quality seemed to vary wildly. That Bryan Adams song was overplayed to the point of physical nausea, but at first, it was sort of tolerable. But after "Macarena," it all got REALLY hit-or-miss. "Genie," "Crazy in Love," and "Promiscuous" are probably the only ones post-1996 that I really enjoyed.
