Run-down: Based in Southern United States. New characters (who look a lot less annoying). New/actually has a story. New kinds of specialised zombies. And last but not least...melee combat! Yeah!

Oh yeah, and it's due in November apparently, one year after Left 4 Dead hit the shelves.

I'm a L4D fanboy and I have to say; this is stupid. They just released the SDK Tools for the PC, which means people can now easily make their own maps, designs, even gametypes, but noooo, before the community can even take off they put a new game on the market. How much money do they want? Jeeesh, L4D came out last year, sold a shitload of copies, then came out with a "new" version (L4D + Expansion Pack already included) and that also sold loads and then just a mere 2 months later they announce a whole NEW game....sigh.

Also, kraigy, Bill, Zoey, Francis and Louis are amazing

Because I think it's not needed and I hoped they care about the community, but I guess they don't considering L4D is still full with bugs and glitches. The PC version has made a lot of people get blue screens/crashes and they never fixed it, just awesome.

That's kind of bs, Call of Duty 4 got patched like what, 6 times to take out all the glitches and shit? Free levels? All the maps that you can do in Survival mode are parts of the maps that were already in the game, except for Lighthouse which is really small, whoopeedoo, one new map. They released Dead Air and Death Toll for Versus which was supposed to be in from the start but Valve wanted to release the game because it was taking too long. Those two maps in my opinion should have been playable for Versus from the start, they were there for the taking but it took ages before they released it. By the time they finally released the two maps for Versus people had been playing it on those two maps for months by just voting for a map change to Death Toll/Dead Air while in a server and it worked fine (don't think this was possible on 360), so the impact was gone.

Don't get me wrong, I love Survival mode, I think it was a good idea and it can be extremely exciting, but look at Team Fortress 2. TF2 has been out for almost 2 years now and they haven't announced a TF3 yet right? They have patched TF2 a LOT and they keep bringing out new patches with new stuff for all the classes, real content that stretches the replay value. The TF2 developers try to keep the players happy with new content and by fixing bugs, the L4D makers have tweaked the classes a couple of times (sometimes for the worst actually) and they took months and months to release the two maps for Versus. You can say I should be happy that I can actually play those maps now on Versus etc etc, but can't we expect something for our money?

Because this is Valve, and while I don't subscribe to this as much as other people do; Valve built their reputation on the slow burn of making a game, supporting it heavily and really getting the most out of it. They seem to be cutting that short to cash in on ANOTHER game that's just going to be Left 4 Dead in another location with add-ons that they seriously couldn't patched into the game, which sounds like something that they would have done earlier or at least with their other games (I mean, Team Fortress 2 on the PC is an ENTIRELY different game these days). I think that's why it annoys people, because it's not what Valve usually does and seeing as how they're being held up as 'the company that's doing it right' this just seems like a mistake and not like them.

Stop being naive. Games are made primarily to make the companies that make them money.

Personally I would rather have a new game than some minor fixes and perhaps some small add-ons to the old game.
