Got a fun game going with Russia, wound up on a continent all by myself and managed to spread out five cities (could have had six but it would've meant two weak partial tundra cities rather than one stronger single city). Met everyone and am still way ahead of them all, just waiting to get artillery before I spread glorious Russian Federation all over the world, starting with my nearest neighbour Venice.

Poland > Venice in a walk. Free Social Policy at age up is ridiculous. I think Assyria is the most fun, though. Something about neglecting critical techs so you can roll up in a siege tower and steal them appeals to me.

I always wind up with too many social policies for my tactics anyway, so they're not really something I care enough about getting extra ones for. Assyria could be fun, I rarely go down the Sailing route until mid game so it would make sense as far as my general tactic goes. Might have to try them next.
