The FA Cup Thread 2010/2011

I had a quick search through the forum and it seems we don't have one for this year, until now.

Thought it was the best time to start one after FC United of Manchester managed to beat Rochdale 3-2 away. Excellent result!

The Second Round draw is as follows;

1 Sheffield Wednesday v Northampton Town
2 Burton Albion or Oxford United v Chesterfield
3 Cambridge United or Huddersfield Tn v Macclesfield Town or Southend United
4 AFC Wimbledon or Ebbsfleet United v Stevenage or Milton Keynes Dons
5 Hartlepool United or Vauxhall Motors v Yeovil Town
6 Bury v Stockport County or Peterborough United
7 Notts County v AFC Bournemouth
8 Droylsden v Dagenham & Redbridge or Leyton Orient
9 Crawley Town v Swindon Town
10 Brighton & Hove Albion or Woking v FC United of Manchester
11 Southampton v Cheltenham Town
12 Torquay United v Fleetwood Town or Walsall
13 Barnet or Charlton Athletic v Corby Town or Luton Town
14 Colchester United v Swindon Supermarine
15 Hereford United v Lincoln City
16 Dartford or Port Vale v Accrington Stanley
17 Wycombe Wanderers v Chelmsford City
18 Carlisle United v Tamworth
19 Dover Athletic v Brentford or Aldershot Town
20 Darlington v Rotherham United or York City

Ties to be played on 27 and 28 November 2010 [/code]

Potential for AFC Wimbledon vs. MK Dons, provided they both make it through their replays. That would be a brilliant game which I imagine would get televised.

I want MK vs. AFC Wimbledon. I assume that match has never happened before? Also wouldn't it be quite funny if FCUM got through to play Man Utd in the third round? :shifty:

There's a funny typo on the BBC's listing of the draw:

Bury v Stockport v Peterborough

Triple Threat match! :w00t:

Was at the pub last night and we were like... why the hell is Woking vs Brighton on?

Then it was like heh... go on Woking, why not ^_^

Then it was like COME ON WOKING :o COME ON WOKING!!!! :w00t: BRIGHTON YOU CUNTS :(

I don't really get the FA Cup "magic", especially in the latter rounds when it doesn't really bother me at all, but I do always like the aspect of seeing which underdogs can make it through. Would be good to have a nice underdog in the final again this year, and by that I mean a proper Championship-or-below underdog. And not impossible to like, eg Cardiff.

Isn't that the magic of it though? Seeing small clubs, non-league clubs taking on bigger teams and beating them. I tend to get drawn to non-league teams and smaller Football League clubs, especially if they're managed by ex-top flight players. Or have them playing in them. Like Burton Albion a few years ago. Or indeed Cardiff when they had Jimmy-Floyd Hasslebaink. Or Denis Wise's Millwall.

I'd love to see a lower league team win it one day. Actually, what is the furthest a non-league side has ever gotten in the FA Cup?
