The EWB Bookie 5

So, we're a little over a month away from the new Premier League season. This means it's time to get some names together for the fifth edition of The EWB Bookie.

As always, I've made a few changes to how we play just to keep things fresh. Those changes can be seen below;

Goals Galore replaces The Doubler

Goals Galore is simple - when both teams score in a match, you win. Choose a match from the five in the set, and if both teams score in the game, you'll get an extra 10 points added to your total for the week.

Handicap Betting

While we'll still have five Premier League games to bet on, Bet 5 will now be replaced by a game that offers increased odds. For example, when Liverpool have odds of 4/6 to beat West Brom, you may now get odds of 6/5 if you take them with a -1 handicap. I'll make sure everything is set out clearly with this, don't worry.

Removal of duplicate betting

It's definitely happening this time. No more betting on more than one outcome to a match. Sorry, Eddie! This just makes you earn the points you obtain, rather than them being guaranteed. As an example, if you bet on Man City to win in your first bet, you can't then bet on them to draw in your next, and lose in your third.

I might add a few more things by the time I post Set 1, which will hopefully be no more than two weeks from now. Any of your suggestions for what we could add/what to do for Set 1 are welcome.

For those who haven't played before and wish to, check out some of the older bookie threads to find out how it all works. The game runs for the entire season, so if you put your name down, prepare to make one or two posts per week in the bookie thread.

As a side-note, the removal of The Doubler is with the intentions of keeping things close. Sure, a huge accumulator could get you 300 points, but it isn't really fair if someone was to stop posting for 4 weeks, return with a huge acca win, then get it doubled.

Also, I may or may not be running two different games this year, with the other being quite similar to "Last Man Standing," a game we've played a number of times, so look out for that.
