He's eligible for a British passport but an agreement between the Home Nations is that a player has to be educated in the country of eligibilty for 5 years before the age of 18. Hoilett moved to England at 13 but lived in Germany for 2 seasons in 2007 and 2008, so nobody is sure whether he's eligible or not.

We've completed the signing of David Norris from Portsmouth. Half of our squad is now ex-Pompey: Norris, Ashdown, Varney, Pearce and Brown have all signed from Pompey in the last 12 months. I'm also a bit concerned we're making a promotion chasing side by signing half a side that got relegated.

Good signing for you that. Norris was superb in every League he played for Argyle in.

Greg Halford has joined Nottingham Forest, leaving Portsmouth with Erik Huseklepp, Liam Lawrence, Dave Kitson, Tal Ben Haim and Kanu still contracted.

Bristol City have signed goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a one-year deal with the option of a further season.

Not only do they get him off the wage bill but they get rid of a colossal wanker, so that's good for them as well - if they survive.

I'm surprised Huseklepp hasn't been taken on by another club yet, he's a good player.

Kitson and Lawrence are both colossal wankers as well, and two players signed on 20k a week deals when the club was already in administration the first time. Be funny in a way if those two are a cause of them going bust like this.

Hope they survive, the fans have always come across as fantastic to me and they have been absolutely fucked by their owners.

I don't necessarily find the holding out for their money that makes them wankerish, perhaps a player like Kanu who has enough, but football is a short career so they take every penny they can. Greg Halford telling fans to 'wash his car' on Twitter makes him a wanker, though.

Let me stress that my hatred of Kitson and Lawrence comes not at all from their unwillingness to leave the club, I actually am firmly on the side of the players on that one including Kanu and Ben Haim.
